Please critique my Celestis setup:
Highs: 2x d150mm II rails, 2x heavy launchers The rails could be made tech 1 as well. Load Thorium for easy hits at 15km (optimal at my skills atm). Launchers supply cap-free DPS. My missile skills are atrocious, but I think the cap saved makes up for it.
Mids: 10mn AB, 4x named damps
I probably want to be hanging back 20km, damping one or two targets. I would have rather used a MWD... more that later though. Using Indirect Scanning Dampening Unit Is right now... can't bring myself to buy 4x 8m damps and take it into PVP the very first time I try this setup.
Lows: DC, EANM, 800mm plate Not much of a tank. I'm guessing it should give enough time to get away unless I've got a LOT of people beating on me. This will mostly be for pirating alone, or pirating with a buddy in a gank setup. I can give supplemental DPS along with damping. He can DPS like crazy.
Drones: 3x Hammerhead II, 2x Hobgoblins IIs (or 1s if feeling cheap!)
Rigs: pffffthahahaha maybe if I inherit a greater account of omgfactiongearmissionrunner.
My biggest concerns here is speed. This is primarily going to be a group setup (couldn't solo with this, no scram!) So, I'm guessing that the buddy I'm running with (or whoever in a larger group) is going to be webbing the enemy.
Some careful cap management is needed, because I can't just turn on all the damps, AB, and guns and keep everything moving.
This is the tactic I'm really questioning - does this work?: 1. turn 2 damps on the enemy 2. when you're at a range where a 3rd damp would put their lock range under the distance between you or your gangmates... 3. turn on the 3rd damp ...would that break the enemy's lock entirely?
I don't really know what works, exactly. Just trying to think of strategies so that cap can be managed.
I wish I could stick a MWD on there - but the capacitor penalty screws things up. I also wish I could just stick a scram on there and go out soloing with it... but it seems like cap would be an issue there.
Any advisable changes to this setup?

I think you might have a problem with keeping cap for runnning that, other than that the setup looks nice.

Yeah... cap is a slight issue. That's why I was wondering if the strategy I mentioned (pulsing the last damp to break the lock) would work.
Because... if that DOES work, then that's what I can do to help manage cap.

do you have signal suppression to at least 2? if you do, 2 damps will be fine for a single target.
that leaves you with an open mid for a cap recharger/battery.
I wouldnt worry about any tank tbh, and goo with 2 BCS II, mag stab II
yes, the 3rd damp will break his lock Tier 2 BS Lotto

I love it!
Except I was thinking if your buddy has excellent DPS, then perhaps fit dual Assault launchers and then try to fit a MWD instead of AB? I dont know if u can but IMHO, MWD can be a life saver.
This way if a ceptor tries to spoil the party you can spoil his
I met a rather nice pilot who was trying a setup like yours today on my untanked Stabber. It was nice but my MWD basically rendered his setup usesless. Props for having the brass to try it on me. I had a good laugh.

Yeah... I want to fit MWD. I might, too. I want to see it in practice, anyway. I might lose a ship or two before I get it right.
Thanks for the advice, everyone.

If you're having problems running all that, drop the plate and tank mods for PDSs. It won't take much to knock you down and you want to make the most of the damp bonus anyway.
To my mind, the celestis, like most t1 cruisers is too big, heavy and slow to be all that much fun--if you want to make killmails and have real longevity you're almost certaintly better off in a pimped Arazu or Maulus to take the most advantage of speed, scan & sig res and cloaking. Using T2 sensor damps on a Celestis is not practical, unfortunately. They damp just like the Muons, but use almost twice the cap (OUCH!!!!). If I fit my Celestis on the cheap, I use the Low Frequency damps. With my skills I can run 3 of them, 10 MN ABII, and a Fleeting scrambler forever.

Drop a damp and replace with a sensor booster. Damps work pretty well out to 100km when EW skills are behind them.
