I'm currently looking at interdictors as an area that I plan on specing in and I always evaulate the merits of the various race's ship when I look at a ship class, to see how and why people use individual ships and whatnot. Anyways, I noticed when looking at interdictors that 3 (Caldari, Amarr, and Gallente) are all about the same with the Caldari missle using flycatcher being a bit more expensive, makes sense. What doesn't make sense is the absolutely insane price of the Minnie dictor, the Sabre. It is always triple the price of the other dictors. Now part of it could be expained by the fact that the Sabre is some ways better than the other dictors. It's by far the fastest and its tracking bonus means the usual accuracy issues associated with arties are almost a non-issue. However that doesn't seem to quite cover it.
It seems to me that there is a critical shortage of Sabre's on the market. There's never more than about 10 for sale in any region and I've only seen two in space ever. If this is true, why is it true? Is this actually a true circumstance of an alliance buying all the bpo's and withholding ships to keep prices high and supply for their enemies low? Until I saw the prices for Sabres, I thought this idea was bull. Crow's, Cerb's and Vaga's are only so expensive because of their insane popularity. There are plenty for sale because price always varies with demand and keeps the total on the market at any given time about the same. However in the case of Sabre's the supply is so pitiful that the price is still rising and there are few on the market. Something seems messed up. It highlights the problems with the current tech 2 lottery system. Seeding more bpo's last patch clearly has had little or no effect on situations like this. I hope the devs fix invention soon because there are serious problems here.

It's actually pretty simple. Sabre is the interdictor most used in actual combat situations, because people feel any of the other 3 interdictors just die too easy. Therefore, paradoxally, even if it might be the more "survivable" one, because it's also the most used, it's also the one that's actually lost the most
So the shortage in supply just became pretty obvious _ My skills | Mod/Rig stacknerfing explained |

When sabre cn take on eris + heretic at once and win the fight you know its worth the money you pay.
Also you can: outrun quite a lot of inties, outrange pulse lasers with... autocannons (not even talking here abt rockets or blasters), you have one of most agile and resistant dessys at the same time... It only doesnt make cofee :S

it really depends on how it is set up. I havee killed 2 of them in a Blaster harpy, back to back. problem was the damn agrression timer, the rats, and I couldn't get out of the bubble in time. so sad to watch your harpy get owned by rats after you just blew up that many isk.

Sabre definitely rocks, but you don't need to waste it to blobbing situations where your only role is bubbling the hell outta your enemy ...
Fly your sabre for small scale pvp and hop into an eris/heretic for heavy blobbing ...
