"And talking about capital ships, the rumour is that ORE have one in the works. Unofficial sources state that it's not a miner per se, but is something every industrialist wants to have in his backyard."
in belt refining and 4 strip lasers is what i think (based on frieghters too)!
what do you think?

If they make it inbelt refining they'll just cripple it by making it have bad refining rates I suspect. That is the most obvious seeming scenario though.
Personally I hope they've got something else up their sleeve. Not that mobile refiners sound bad but I'd love to see some sort of industrial ship that wasn't focused on mining somehow.

I think a lot of carrier / dread pilots will find themselves sitting in belts guarding the damn things.

Even that would still be used by many. Anyone who wanted to do serious mining in a system they don't have a station or POS in (or nearbye) would have great use for them. Specially for the nomads who inhabit the new regions, with their low-ore roids and non-existant infrastructure. -----------------------------------------------

In the end its major use would probably come down to large scale mining ops for cap ship production and ninja mining in others territory, conversion to minerals so it can be shipped back.
One thing I will say the capital class refinery barge must not have a high cargo capacity otherwise it will become a jump capable freighter.
Refinery equipment percentage should not exceed 20%.
Its gotta have the agility of a large brick.
I should not have a drone bay of any sort.
It should have no slots of any sort.
It should not be able to naturally tank rats bigger then cruisers.

If it has a refinery why should the quality be so bad? I mean compared to an intensive refining array it'd cost probably 15x as much and probably that again in skills, I think it might well have a reduced % if it is a refiner but that low?
Whats the problem with jump drive freighters, they're already in the game, most carriers have been used at least once like that.

i think 100 workers in a communist country somewhere on the globe just cheered in unison at the thought of this super mining ship.

I would think some cross between a freighter and a carrier, with a jumpdrive and limited fitting capability.
Perhaps something to replace the carrier as a jump driver hauler, costing more than a freighter but less than a dreadnought, with the ability to refine things and possibly build them, this would add the ability for corps to take advantage of space without setting up a POS but at greatly reduced efficiency. ______________________________________

I'm actually hoping it *doesn't* have a jump drive, in the fashion of a freighter.
If this thing can't be brought into Empire, it's going to be a huge disappointment. Chribba will cry.
It doesn't need to make *economic sense* in Empire, but it ought to be something that can be used here.

maybe it could have both a jumpdrive and be small enough to use warp gates. ______________________________________

It will be a cold dark day in Jita before they let cap ships into high sec. No way in hell should it be allowed into high sec, if the concord hugging carebears (and better yet the macro miners...) want access to it they will move to 0.0
They wont even have to stake their own claim, they could simply negotiate/pay for protection from an established alliance.
It wont get into high sec and shouldnt be useable by noob corp members.
But hurray for indy cap ships! I think its a great idea, especially if it grants enough bonus's to make non miners like myself useful to a mining op, or pulls in enough ore to make sitting there gaurding miners cost effective...
If its an in belt refinery it will be beautiful... just dont let it prealign/log off to escape like most mining carriers will now and dont let it sit in POS's to do its work.
Its place is in a belt refining and handing out bonus's. (if these are indeed its traits)
I think this would be awesome and encourage fleet mining ops... at the moment unless they are in a station system the hauling sucks... but if you can refine on the spot you need 1 hauler for a hell of a lot of ore.
I cant wait to see some stats on it
