Below open letter is published by request of "Humming Birds" corporation CEO Presto Galumir whose characters were recently banned by CCP:
Quote:I immersed myself into the world of Eve Online since August 2012. I started as a noob and eventually became a leader of a nullsec corporation. We led a peaceful existence, played with joy. Then, one day, all my characters were banned. I have no idea what is the cause. Still, in January 2014, the whole region had experienced a wave of sudden bans. Some CEOs and corporation directors were banned. No understandable reasoning has been provided by the administration. After a couple of month of turmoil email exchange I got a message stating "your account has been banned from our server for involvement in the sale of in-game items for real world money." What was their judgment based on in declaring me an RMTer is unknown to me. The old-time players explained that my and other characters were banned on the grounds of paying rent for a solar system to the character who rented the constellation and was eventually banned for RMT. I don't know if that's true or not, but all of the aftermath talks to the support people to reach the justice in the case were plainly ignored by the administration.
As things happen, I have a lot of free time to devote to all this. I'm a disabled person. My disability is similar to the one of Stephen Hawking. I have a high-fidelity mouse to assist me in working with computers. The computer and internet have become my main way of communication with the real world. The game suited me perfectly. I couldn't find a better alternative ever since.
Having no way to reach any kind of justice, I've started with a fresh character all over again. Then, I was banned again. Once again I exchanged lots of messages with GMs. I was told I was banned for RMT by one GM, and another one told me I was banned for using of macros. Rinse and repeat. That continued for half a year.
In the next year and a half I absolutely legally trained several characters. The Humming Birds corporation (aka Birdies) was one of the most successful in the Malpais region. The Y-XZA7 solar system became our home. We built the station, upgraded it to the possible extent. We built an capital fleet, in which we had several Super Capitals. Despite the fact we were naturally carebears, we stood stiftly agains many of the professional PvP alliances. In the end it seemed as if we had crossed someone's path. We had been under a constant siege for three months. The whole constellation had been plagued with enemy covert ships ready to summon their fleets. Harvestr1, Max Vokk, Max Shtepa, Setore, id oto first, MrBeacon, if we were to name few of them. BlackOps, stealth bombers, super carriers, Drednouths... tons of them'd been dropped upon us. We didn't surrender despite the lack of any support from the alliance.
And now the history repeats.
The administration has outdone themselves this time. I, a couple of corporation leaders and several other players have been banned. All who haven't been banned were kicked out of the corporation. The corporate assets and accounts have vanished. Even all of the POSes were liquidated as well. 90 billion ISK were withdrawn from the corporate account of the neighbor Intergallactic Conquest and Development corporation, to whom we transfered rent for our solar systems. This time we are groundlessly accused for RMT all over again.
It's quite humilating that the moment before the bans happened the crowd of covert neuts have left our systems. The last two of them left on the day of the bans.
Nowadays, in place of the prospering corporation there's a dispersed bunch of players ready to leave the game. The community has been displaced, which is even more saddening. Many of us came not only for the game itself, but for the lively community around it.
Let's reach the justice in all of this. I'm tired of being groundlessly accused. If I or any of my fellows in the corporation are involved in RMT, it'd be fair to see the proofs. Show us what and when we have traded. Otherwise, I insist on unblocking our accounts and receiving of a compensation for the harm induced. Additionally, I look forward for apologies from the administration for treating the gamers this way. Please don't forget that you only exist because we pay you. |

I can see an unfounded ban happen once. But thrice? At that point, you should really start thinking what you and your entourage are doing wrong. |

Quote:Forum rules11. Discussion of warnings and bans is prohibited.Such matters shall remain private between CCP and the involved user. Questions or comments concerning warnings and bans will be conveyed through email or private messaging. CCP respect the right of our players to privacy and as such you are not permitted to publicize private correspondence (including support ticket responses and emails) received from any member of CCP staff. 28. Ban evasion is prohibited.Forum suspensions and bans are issued when a user grossly violates the forum rules. While they are rarely issued, they are applied with the communityGÇÖs best interests in mind. Attempts to bypass a suspension or ban via the use of alternate accounts will result in additional action, and in some instances may result in the permanent revocation of forum posting privileges across all accounts. Similarly, having another forum user post on your behalf if you are unable to do so may result in an extension of your suspension or ban, as well as the user who does so also receiving similar reprimand regardless of their warning history.
The only acceptable way to discuss bans is directly with CCP, through the support ticket system. Please keep all discussions about bans there. Threads like these that further break the rules do not help the process.
