Adv. Spaceship Command needs abit fixing...
Freigthers needs lv 1
Jump Freighter skill needs lv 4
Freighter Skills needs lv 5
I do understand the other skills erectify it, but it is abit confusing...... (just had to explain it toa member)
So, shouldnt JF skill req lv 5 and freighter skill lv 4... and remove freighter at lv 1?
Or has it been some changes in the skill requirements that resulted in the confusing setup'? |

You need ASC to 5 to fly a freighter. You need racial freighter to 4 to fly a JF. Therefore, regardless of what the JF says, you need ACS to 5 to fly a JF.
Simple.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.
I couldn't have said it better.

I think the primary issue here isn't the skill level
It is how the information is repeated over and over.
Then agian, when looking at the requirements for a skill, it list the primary skills for it - plus all the sub skills for those. So many skills are repeated through a requirements page at different levels.

Personally I would like CCP to do the opposite of removing the skill and create more ships that rely on Advanced Spaceship command.
Maybe a line of combat ships that are constructed out of cap ship parts like the orca is. Nothing with a jump drive, but something using capital guns maybe? |

I've never had an issue figuring out what I needed to train to fit or fly something. It's very straight forward to drill down through the wickets. In my decade of playing eve I've never had to emergency train into a ship. Even if I did, the 'drill down' time to make sure I trained evertything I needed to would be very very small compared to the training time, so I don't see where the current skill requirements layout needs adjustment.
If getting your arms around the requirements to fly a JF are too difficult, well there are like 1000 other truely difficult things in eve that will eventually drive you out of the game, so if it's the JF skill tree that does it - be happy with the time not wasted playing until the other 1000 roadblocks drive you away.
It seems to me the game is working as intended. Eve is difficult. Newbros need help. In this case the newbro got the help he needed from his corp mates. This is awesome and working as intended. |

If you had to give me 100 isk every time I explained the (simple to me, yet baffling to others) basic wh mechanics to another player - I'd be space rich and you would be space broke. Your knowledge and understanding aren't a burden - they are a gift that you pass on to newbros. |

And then after time sink you get the natural course of upfront money vs income vs risk vs replacement cost and collateralized damages.
In essence what I'm saying is that calling something a time sink is just that - it's not a gateway to anything its a month of subscription time spent training a skill that is irrelevant the moment you stop training it.

So, you are kind of saying that every skill in eve should be a stepping stone to something more?
I've trained a lot of skills to 5 that are the end of the line. There are so many unique roads to train in eve. They can't all go on forever. JF would (in my opinion) would be the end of the progression line in hauling. So to me it seems natural that some of the skills you train to master it would not be stepping stones to something better.
If you take 3 or 4 steps back - you will notice that eve is a game. It's THE MOST FASCINATING RL time sink I have ever come across. That being said, when I log off - it's all irrelevant. If you don't believe that, go to Starbucks, loudly exclaim "I'm a level 5 dread pilot." and confidently head for the front of the line. Let us know how it works out for you.
