Why does everyone say EVE is about PVP when its not? Was there a dev blog that said. After DT tomorrow everyone shoot each other?

The devs have stated on several occasions that eve is a PVP game... have you been here long..

CCP has repeatedly stated they consider Eve to be a PvP game, ruthless and not always fair no, certainly not consentual.
However, they use PvP in a braod sense of puitting player against player. This can mean market pvp too, or resource pvp, political pvp and even forum pvp.
However, consentuality is not on their agenda, and competition is a key part they'll keep promoting in all aspects of the game

Their words do contradict their actions though. I'm not in the camp that believes CCP are turning EVE into a carebear game, but I do believe they're dumbing it down in a major way, whether they realise it or not.

EVE is NOT only about pvp 
And it would become very boring very quickly if it ever became that way.
I like it the way it is now, a change in either direction is only a change for the worst.

EVE is all about PvP though. Both in combat, and also in the market, as has already been said in this thread. Almost everything you do in EVE relies on other players to help you make a profit. Beyond NPC bounties and some frigates, there is nothing. No larger-than-frigate ships, not tech II, no named mods market, no nothing.

i think you would have been better to have stated your question differently. maybe, is eve only a pvp game?
i don't think eve is just about pvp. they have agents and reputation grinding is important for some stuff. the market is player driven. peoples attitude that pvp is superior to pve is just an opinion (and vice versa). i think the pve element in eve needs to be remembered and worked on just like the pvp one so to make it the most robust game ever

I'd be first to admit I'm not a fan of PvP....
But damn it EvE is so much fun. 
I'd not want to see a change except perhaps making gate camping harder... commerce in EvE relies on travel gate camps stop travel, in effect hurting everyone. Well hurting weaker players... which is what PvP is about... or something.  ... ...

competition for the same resources is PvP... even if you never fire a shot at another player..
it is just more fun when it escalates to actual combat..

Because the market in EVE which is 95% player driven is driven by loss. Why else would people be buying new ships all the time? Its not new players, its player conflict, pvp.
Person A PVP's, and loses his ship or causes a loss.
Person B mines and sells ore
Person C manufactures another ship which Player A purchases.
Eve is about its market, its about PVP in more than one meaning of the word. How can you say it's not?
