I have been doing a patrol through 5 or so systems doing scannable sites.
Is it in my interest to clean out worthless data/relic cans (that I have cargo scanned) so that there is a faster site respawn or am I better off just skipping the can and moving on? |

If you loot all the cans in the site, the site despawns and then respawns somewhere else in that constellation. If you only loot the highest value can, then the site will despawn after an hour. |

While many people will tell you that it's better for you, it's prison dilemma all over again. You see, no matter how YOU will do it, somebody WILL cherry pick stuff, getting an edge in snatching all the good pieces. ESPECIALLY if he is using wormholes either as playing ground or travel system coupled with rng. |

Personally I clear the sites (no cargo scanner equipped), when I encounter cherry picked sites I move on to another part of space.

Actually it can be anywhere. See: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Cosmic_Signatures

It is not in your best intrest to complete the site. While it is technically possible for the site to respawn in the same area you are in. The sites will respawn anywhere they could spawn reliative to there security zone. For instance there are 5 regions which have Serpentis sites a site completed in high sec could respawn anywhere within the high sec portion of those regions.
If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

I generally clan sites but I just blow up low value cans. Fail the can my closing the windows twice.
That way you spend very little extra time on the site but you also increase your chance of finding a new site. |

In wormholes due to there always being risk, I just cherry pick ( sorry v.v )
In hisec I always clear out, t2 hacking modules make this stupid easy
lowsec / null it depends on how active local is
Its pretty much just a courtesy thing really, yeah it does speed things up a bit clearing through all the cans, but im not gonna risk my ship / pod to do this. |

WHs are for the most part safer than Null/Low (assuming you run with people in local in those area), I have run loads of sites and have only been caught once in a very active Shattered WH (i had setup a trap with a T3D but I had not taken into account it was a Wolf rayet so my scanner died just as the T3D landed).

Don't clear them out. There are three reasons:
1) Time spent clearing out the site is time you could've spent on finding a new site. You hurt your isk/hr.
2) Leaving cans behind slows down other explorers. They're wasting time on scanning and hacking worthless sites, leaving rich sites for you.
3) The site spawn rate is slowed down. Unless you play 24/7, you want sites to spawn as slowly as possible. Slow spawn rate increases the value of the exploration loot you've already collected.
Remember, everyone's an enemy in Eve. |
