Searched forums and other sites, and I'm not able to turn up any real info.
I keep getting jumped by npc Circadean Seekers at random locations, sometimes even right as I undock from a station. I mostly mine so don't have the combat skills/ships to kill them quickly. At one point I managed to take down 2, but then 3 more warped in. As a miner, I can handle most rats fine, but even in a tanked procurer they pose a threat.
What is causing this? Is there a way to stop this? |

Sounds like you're mining in lowsec as they don't usually spawn in HS belts afaik. Really you need a BC or a well skilled cruiser to take them on effectively, I'm not sure how sentry drones would handle them since that would be you're best option in a Procurer. I've seen them spawn by random planets too but mostly they seem to hover around the gate, sometimes they do stuff to the gate too. |

I suggest apologizing in loval and mwybe switching the system. Though they might follow.
Definitely apologize though, it might even help. (I'm actually serious :p)

As soon as I saw they where called Seekers I made sure to stay away from them ... far, far away :).
No but seriously don-¦t shoot stuff unless they attack you and if you are in a non-combat ship or are outgunned RUN for the hills ... or atleast the closest station ASAP. |

It's a fair question though, if there's no information on a particular enemy people aren't gonna be able to make an educated choice. New players make mistakes, the OP just wants to rectify his. Maybe he wanted to see what loot they dropped? But still, not shooting them in this case is probably your best bet. I always see them by gates like I said and they don't seem to hastle anyone who doesn't hastle them. |

Circadian Seekers are not hostile until you start ******* with them. If you leave them be, all they will do is follow you around for a bit and scan your ship. So it's quite easy to make an "educated choice": If an NPC you don't know doesn't aggress you, leave it be. No further information required. |

Trent Eddison wrote:So I just keep warping out when I see them without engaging? How long will they pursue me for? Is there anyplace else I could be going for info about this? These Drifters are relatively new to New Eden and their motivations and behaviour aren't really well understood, and also seem to change. I am not sure anyone can give you a definitive answer. But what probably will get them to stop shooting/following you is:
1) Stop shooting them; 2) Lie low and wait for their fury to die down a bit; 3) Move a system or two away.
That probably will stop the attacks, but it depends how much you have aggravated them. I have heard rumours they like corpses, so if you have some in your hanger you could offer them some and perhaps they will like you a little better. Otherwise, I see no way for you to gain their forgiveness for your rash actions other than some time and space for them to simmer down.
Remember though, in New Eden all almost all your choices have consequences. Whether it is with NPCs or other players, your actions can have repercussions up to, and including, the destruction of your ship. |

You can also try self destructing your pod and sacrificing your corpse to them.
They love corpses.

They love corpses. waste of a perfectly good corpse. Maybe, but they really do love them. I ganked a miner once with Seekers on the belt and they swooped in and stole the corpse before I could loot it.
I like to think they like me a little more for these corpse donations to their nefarious plans (whatever those are) but so far they haven't done anything nice for me, or even said thank you.

There's a chance that they'll spawn Drifters--so it's best to let them be. IMO anyway.

When I came back to the game a short while ago, I was flying around in a Caracal when I saw a bunch of them sat on a gate. So obviously the first thing I do is shoot at them without doing any research into what they are, or what they can do. I was able to tank the damage fine, but it was taking quite a while to kill just one of them and I was getting bored, so I warped off to the nearest asteroid belt to see if any miners had left their drones lying around (you'd be surprised how many T2 drones I've found).
Imagine the look on my face when those buggers followed me into the belt, I was not expecting that at all. I decided to just kill them so I could scour the belts in peace, but after a long fight, more of them spawned in. "Nope." I decided to leave system after that, they didn't follow me (thankfully).
I hear they drop some weird poop, so I might try again in something bigger, like a Drake, so I can examine this stuff more closely.
My lord.

Seekers following people around, stealing corpses from under a gankers nose, shooting POS ...
Hahahaha, 10/10, finally interesting PvE. If only drifter incursions weren't restricted to sites.

Hah, I did this too. Just came back to eve, was doing my usual empire stuff to get the hang of basic mechanics was flying a Prophecy around doing frostline sites, and when I saw these at a gate I thought it should be enough for 5 little cruisers, even if they were seekers.
I attack and it takes a LONG time to take out the cruiser. So I take out the cruiser and start taking out his buddies, and I notice my tank is starting to have a hard time so I decide to bug out. As I warp out I notice that there were 30 seekers that just weren't showing because my overview was still fisked.
So yea, I decided that the best way of dealing with them was to leave them alone. Reading this thread, I'm glad I came to that conclusion so quickly after returning.

I am in the Eve forums and someone is telling someone else to ask questions first and shoot later? You have me very confused. I could have sworn that the general guidelines in Eve were that if it moves shoot it and if it doesn't move shoot it to see if it moves. |

To be fair, they are not officially a faction yet (the Drifters and their little friends, that is.) But they are going to be, fairly soon.

Oh, they ARE a faction, but the standings loss from shooting them does not show up in your character sheet, so you can't keep track of it.
They also have the advanced AI that follows you into warp, applies jamming, and possibly warp scrambles.
CCP seems to be doing a lore arc development with them, where they become more and more aggressive and bigger ships with better weapons keep being introduced.
So, for now, they're acting like NRDS (they don't shoot neutrals = people who haven't shot them in the past), but it's likely they'll switch to full aggro as the lore progresses. |
