Tonight I was running data and relic sites in a WH and found an item called a Research Component in every single can from two different sites (One each data and relic, both Serpentis for what it's worth). The item description links you to an Agent named Lee Brinalle. When the link is clicked the NPC's Bio talks about contracting the items over to her.
Does anyone know wtf this is? Been running sites for a long time and this is the first I have seen of these. Even a quick google search yielded no answers. |

Because is something pretty new. In the updates page you can see the following:
"The latest phase of Upwell Consortium's plan is in motion, and construction is starting on the first citadel. The Intaki Bank branch of Upwell has dedicated Agent Lee Brinalle to accepting and processing pilot contributions of needed Research Components. The Upwell Consortium will reward a few lucky pilots who participate with Astrahus Citadel BPCs (M-size) for the top contributor and two randomly chosen pilots as well as names of the few top contributors on the cornerstone of this citadel."

Read this
Research
It refers to the new Citadels. Kinda like a minigame. Collect them, contract them to the NPC agent, who ever contributes the most gets rewarded

Civil discourse is uniquely human. After all, when is the last time a pride of lions and a herd of water buffalo negotiated SOV over a watering hole? Never.
Someone either gets their ass kicked or eaten. At the end of the day someone holds SOV.

I found a few the day they came out and placed a contract to Lee in one of the linked systems but it has just sat there for the past week.
Not sure if they are meant to go to a specific station.
Since iIwill never be the top person to donate i'm just going to contract 1 per Char and hope for Lottery. |

Actually, they're worth quite a lot as long as the event runs, since not everyone has time to run WH-relic and data sites all day.
I suggest throwing up contracts to try to melk this out until the event ends. |

Let's admit it, Data sites smell. Nothing worth anything......these new Research Components are so numerous one might pray for carbon.
I will scan for BP but that's it.

I hack and I've picked up one of these in each can, relic or data. I went to one of the systems that is mentioned on Lee Brinalle's bio yet when I got there, there was not a Intaki Bank Corp station nor was there any agents from the bank in the system. I don't mind making the effort to potentially get a large prize out of it but if the mini-game is not set up correctly, I've wasted my time.
I set up contracts in one of the systems mentioned. I am also concerned that my contracts only last 2 weeks. Does this mean I need to re-enter them when they expire? The length of time for this mini-game is ambiguous. Are we wasting time playing it?
So I see two problems - No Intaki Bank locations in the stated systems and the length of the contracts need to fit the time span of the event.
I hope we get some CCP comments to clear this up.

If you look at the site linked above, the date on it is the 25th. It's likely they're not accepting the contracts until then. |

I feel they messed up this event by putting out the components and leaving a message on Lee Brinalle's bio before the event even started. I have to go restart my contracts now. I started multiple thinking that would improve my odds of winning.
Yes yes, I realize the top guy wins a prize but there are random drawings also. |

I found one of these in a Ghost site, but it was a GURISTAS Ghost site.
I lost it after I overshot a mainframe when trying to hack it (blew up my ship and the component with it), but I thought they were only in Serpentis sites. |

They have been dropping form ghost sites for some time now.
Not that it really matters, because they can be farmed by dozens in Serpentis space.

Yes, CCP has totally goofed up this event. First they give an elaborate backstory about Upwell and the Serpentis, and make an event about attacking the Serpentis Frostline site all over New Eden. But, now the bigger and ultimately larger rewarding event comes out, but the sites are only in Serpentis space or WH space. This totally contradicts the massive network of Serpentis sites that we saw across the galaxy before.
This event was a mistake from the start, then implemented in the worst way possible. Having everyone play "Gold Rush" to find these components was a bad call, then to limit their availability to a few regions was just bad planning. CCP "doesn't play favorites" yet these sites are only available in the areas controlled & camped by the mightiest and richest alliances in the game, so the odds of anyone outside these Coalitions/Alliances/Corps submitting the "Most" is very slim. Plus, this method leaves massive speculation to how this will proceed. Ex:
How are we going to get BPC's for these Citadels after the event?
Will they be seeded by Upwell?
Will they be an LP reward? If so will it be a Mordus Legion, Ore, or an Upwell reward?
Will they only be available in Serpentis exploration sites? (This one I doubt as the lore will not coincide with the past, you know since you can only find research components they obviously don't have the full design. However, as we have seen, this event is not following the lore anyway so I could be wrong)
Will there be new Upwell Relic & Data sites to explore and find these BPCs?
CCP really screwed this event up. |

Anyone else notice that they revised the comment in Lee Brinelle's bio?
Did anyone else notice how the number of relic and data site dropped suddenly? I now see mostly WH sites when I scan down cosmic analogies. Crap.
CCP definitely goofed this event up

Why are you suprised that CCP favors the biggest and richest allinaces and corps........ that is what they always do. I was finding data sites regulary then they disappeared.
Wish they would stop this everybody can succed in EVE playing the way you want to...... you have to play null sec PvP to make anything |

While i agree that the event did not progress as it should (i live in hi-sec gallente space and i hate low-sig data/relics that are now cluttering up the systems), you are wrong. The components drop equally in every can in both data and relic, in hi/low/null. If you wanted a lot of them, all you had to do was go in gallente space and start farming, the damn place is filled with them.
I have not actively searched for them but have sold 200 units, and i still have about 100 in stock. If i had actually actively searched for them, with a properly fitted ship (the hacks are insanely easy, the trick is to get to the site first), i probably would of had in the thousands.
This event could have been won not by 1 person, but by a small group of dedicated players, playing only in hi-sec. |

Well I don't know where you are but I am in Gallente space and I have been primarily hunting for these. At first there were many relic/data sites and then it dropped down drastically. Now most of the site are wormholes where I am located. I cover at least 7 systems when I hunt for these and it is consistent; there are very limited relic/data sites right now.
