4 BCS effectively = 3 BCS because of the stacking penalty. If you're running Lvl4s you really ought to understand that by now.
Change for 2 BCS and 2 PDS, and put a medium or possibly large shield booster in instead of that useless small one. ------ ------

Ok then don't listen. PDS do more than boost PG, you are still going to have a NCS doing about 30% of it's listed gain due to the stacking penalty.
Tactics? Sit there and shoot the rats. Turn your hardeners on. When you take damage, turn your shield booster on.
Is that what you wanted to hear? ------ ------

Very simnple passey. The "tactics" are the same as for level 3 missions. Warp in target shoot. If you find your resists are good enough without ratspecific. Good for you...in my Raven I use 4 tech II hardeners for their main damage:)
Safe flying!

I would drop a BCU and fit a damage control.
Why not get the extra resists?

Edited by: DiuxDium on 25/01/2007 17:38:45 T2 DCU's are cheap these days. Buy one. The 4th BCU gives somewhere around 10%~ of a bonus. Which really isn't much. If you can run all L4's easily as is, keep the BCU. If you ever get in a jam, you'll really appreciate the DCU though.
Damn abreviations. --------------- PvP in EvE is not consentual.

worst piece of advice I've ever seen on a Cerb thread
Your fitting is fine apart from the low slots, as previously mentioned 4 BCU's isnt really wise. I use : 2 BCU's 1 PDU II 1 Signal Amplifier II(increased targeting range)
I don't use the Cerb for any of the longer missions like Extrav as it takes far too long.
For other missions take out the smaller ships first, Battleships won't damage you much unless they are at their optimal range but cruisers and frigates can make your life difficult.
To kill BS's I get in closer than 20km, they cant damage the ship at that range and their defender missiles are useless too.
On the Drone missions don't let them get too close or they will eat your shields, especially the Crippler drones in IO, keep them at a minimum of 15km and watch them pop very very quickly.
Edit to mention mid slots, I use 2 damage specific hardners (gist A-Type), not an Invuln.

Best tactic I can think of is selling the Cerb and buying a Raven (Or a Drake if you have to do them in a ship that takes extra time to kill BCs and BBs).
Cerb for lvl4s is obsolete these days. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

You beat me to that advice. It is dead on though. I sold off my worthless Cerb, no reason to use it in PvE these days. Especially if you can get a Nighthawk, but even a Drake is better.

Well, Shadarle will tell anyone and everyone that the cerb is overrated garbage, but personally, I've had much more fun running lvl 3s, and just starting lvl 4s, in the cerb. But the bigger and slower the ship, the less I tend to enjoy flying it. It's not going to be nearly as fast as doing it in a raven. DPS is comparable to a drake (with HAC 4 or 5), so I don't think your losing out much there. More a matter of taste.
So anyway, right now I'm trying:
5 heavies
Gistii a-type small booster Pithi a-type small booster DG boost amp Rat specific hardener Named Cap Battery (unless I was an idiot checking the math, this was better than cap rcharger, and you should still have fitting to play with. maybe tighter with T2 launchers)
2 BCS T2 2 Beta PDS (T2 if you have skills)
With decent cap skills, you can perma-run both boosters (and can actually go with two pithi for that matter). Probably have issues on a EM heavy mission with this fit, but you could always add rigs to cover that hole. Or maybe yank the amp for an extra hardener.
And tactics? In a mission? Fire away, and avoid pulling whole room to make life easier on the tank? Not sure what else there is to do. Missions aren't exactly brain surgery

which is better pithi or gisti shield booster
i know the pithi does more but it also uses up more cap and cpu than the gisti one

Gistii is better shield to cap ratio, but you shouldn't have a problem perma-running two of them at once, let alone just one. So I'd go with the higher boosting pithi. As a bonus, the price for the pithi has dropped to not that much more than a gistii, last I checked.
Now, grab even a low grade crystal set, and those little guys will really sing

5 tech 2 heavies, AB, gistii small SB, tech 2 amp, 2 rat specific hardeners. 3 BCU and a DCU.
you can run hardeners and SB full time with the AB for the long drag to gates. against serps and the like it will tank over 700 DPS of therm an kin. and the kin missiles chew through them fast enough for me. Plus the tank is good enough that as long as I keep her moving she will survive so I don't really need to concentrate on running her and can run my main quite happily as well.
Still want to try the cerb with HAMs think that will make it an insane runner ship.

btw first off
gist A type small is 28.5 hp/6.5 (5.85 with max skill) cap per second med t2 is 30 hp/20 (18 with max skill) cap per second
The gist is by far the best choice as its cap efficiency is amazing. So stick with that.
However 4 BCS is a real waste, I suggest you take note of your raw dps with 4 then test 3. You will find that 3 are like 98% effective as 4. so lose at least 1. you have quoted specific hardener there which I find is silly seeing as you are trying to find suggestions for good misions setups.
The best hardeners to use would be rat specific. With those on u prolly will find u wont really be using your booster at all.
personally
I run 5t2 heavy 1 med dim t2 10mn, t2 med booster, 2 rat specific hardners, t2 extender, (could just use another hardener) 2 t2 bcs, 2 t2 pdu
a few setups will work. but personally I will use a raven over a cerb due to the massive dps difference I can achieve

Edited by: Big Al on 27/01/2007 14:30:50 5x Heavy IIs empty high
2x Invuln IIs or rat specific, mostly only needed on EM missions 1x Large Shield Extender II 1x Boost amp, named tech 1, faction, or tech II depending on your fitting skills 1x Gistii a-type small sb
3 BCU IIs 1 PDU II
You can use 4 BCU IIs if your fitting skills allow it, you don't really need the PDU.
Runs every Caldari level 4 mission except enemies abound 5/5 without issues. It is slower than a pimped raven on heavy BS missions, I haven't tested against a drake but on paper the drake has slightly better DPS - not sure on the tank.
Tactics are lock stuff, shoot stuff, alt tab, chat on irc for a bit, alt tab, shoot some more stuff.
There aren't many missions where the permatank isn't enough to tank individual spawn agro til the cows come home - which is good for when you forget you were on a mission and stay alt tabbed half an hour with stuff shooting you.
If you want to run missions alt tabbed it's not too bad - if you want to run them fast it's probably not the way to go.

I'd lose the cap recharger and one BCS.
You can replace the recharger by two cap recharge rigs. Then fit a decent sensor booster in your now free mid slot. Also swap the Photon hardner for an afterburner. You can now easily get 200 km distance between you and the Big Bad Battleship, sit there, absorb any damage that can still reach you. You won't see you shield go into the red.

What are the goals to run a mission.
1. Survive the damage output 2. Kill as quickly as possible.
If you can survive the damage output of the mission without PDUs and without the DCU and you have no capacitor issues. Why would you not run a 4th BCU?
The 4th BCU II is about 25% as effective (??)due to the stacking rules.
This means a 3% increase in damage and a 2.5% increase in RoF. This is not an insignificant amount. People are still paying 250mill for the +5% RoF implant last I checked?
The PDUs and DCUs only really help you if you actually need them ... otherwise they are useless.
4th BCU > Useless in my books.
That said, I would drop in a DCU II myself they are pretty darn effective get out of jail free cards when things go sideways :)
