What happens to the average Solo-Joe trying to make his industrial way in high security NPC stations after the citadels come? The same question could apply to mission runners, soloists and others alike...just about anywhere. There is plenty of info on Citadels available as it pertains to the pig-rich, but I have once again taken much needed time away from scrapping, selling and moving my inventories to search the forums on behalf of myself and other common-folk. I maintain tremendous amounts of inventory and have no interest in counting my ships. My out-of-fear losses are already great. If their should be ANY such concerns, we should have been clearly notified already.
So what's the deal, CCP devs? |

Somewhere in the couple "Citadels" blogs it says what happens when the citadel where your stuff is, gets destroyed. The gist of it is; some things remain as loot in the wreck of the citadel, other things get moved to the nearest place where you can still dock, and other things get destroyed. |

They are getting rid of NPC stations? I thought Citadels were in lieu of POS.

Eventually (and someone can correct me on this) they will also replace current player owned citidels/stations
As far as know, NPC stations will remain the same.

Starbases (POS) and probably later Outposts are going to be replaced by Citadels. CCP has no plans to replace NPC stations. I don't see negative effects to solo players. Also storage in Citadels is much much safer than it was in POS, because you can't just tear down the hangars if the POS runs out of fuel. To kill a Citadel you need a well organized fleet attacking during a vulnerability window and a multi-day commitment. Also in k-space you get almost no loot, because the hangar stuff is automatically evacuated.

So you looked high and low for the answer to this, could not find it anywhere and so decided the NC Q&A was the place that you could find the answer? Maybe I'm being too uptight about keeping newbie like questions here.
I have not heard anything about them getting rid of NPC stations. If they do I think that is a terrible mistake. For me that pretty much negates my whole playstyle. However if you find somewhere that I dev said NPC stations are getting removed eventually come back here and let us know. |

I, too, remember seeing that the last step of the citadel revamp was going to be replacing all the NPC stations with (player-owned) citadels, including in high-sec. It was in their first blog, where they outlined their overall plan, but I don't see it now, so maybe they changed their minds and stealth-removed any mention of it. |

Just like one already uses the public POCOs in hisec. |

Just like one already uses the public POCOs in hisec. I play this game and then sometimes real life steps in and I wind up not having time to game for a bit. Then as usual I wind up coming back. With most of my stuff sitting perfectly safe in stations I don't need to worry about it. If I had to worry about the stuff that I had not being there anymore when I came back to the game then that would change the core of how I play, probably how most players play.
I am a pack rat in Eve. I have stuff stored all over the universe. If I could not count on my stuff being there I would have to change my basic MO within Eve. I'd have to sell everything that I was not immediately in need of. I'd have to live heavy in cash and low in stockpiles. No longer could I have mission hubs set up all over.
The in game market would be come far more volatile since traders could not stockpile resources with the long term buy low sell high mentality. Market trading would need to be done with an extremely short term perspective.
I don't think that most people and maybe not even the devs understand the extent to which this would change the game.
On that note I think I'm done nibbling on troll bait for the day. |

Here. You get the 'like' anyway. Thank you for your contribution. |

A medium citadel is only about 600 mil figure a billion with fittings. Thats not difficult for a solo player and should be easy for a corp...so you build your own if/when they ever get rid of NPC stations.
I wouldnt worry to much about it. You will have plenty of time to figure out how citadels work and how to make your stuff safe before they would even start to get rid of npc stations. I honestly doubt they will get rid of npc stations though. |

So when the day comes what will happen to my POS, will it change to a citadel of some description, or will it just disappear in space along with all my stuff? I believe CCP has not yet defined this, but they did say the phase-out of POS would happen over a long timeframe, like around an year.
I'd speculate that eventually POS would simply stop working (forcefield, labs, moon-mining, etc.) and any non-evacuated stuff would be free to loot or destroy.

Example: Data Centers (tag turn-in) Or their could be a system put in place where you have agent slots and can choose the agents to put in your citadel depending on a variety of yet to be created factors such as corps standing with that faction, etc.
imagine level 4s in null..Angel Extravaganza while watching intel and local after you had to avoid friendly drag bubbles to go two jumps out..... cause we would so run level 4s in null if we had agents lol
