From TomB'd dev blog about inventions:
Quote:
We are also having another look at how data cores are coming into play, which are also found in exploration sites.
They can also be retrieved from research agents, who sell them for research points. We will look at anything from the buy limit per day, which was done so that we wouldn't see a flood in data cores in the first days of Revelations, to the research fields and which cores you can get and finally how many research point they cost.
The Revelations 1.3 patch is supposed to fix inventions, but will the limit of datacores per day, per agent, will be changed with that patch? It's not on the patch notes, but then, they may not be complete... ------------------------------------------ Every ship has a base 60-70% resist against the primary damage type of the race that is the least able to vary it's damage types. |

Invention: Adjective; 1) Poorly implemented stop-gap band-aid on a far larger problem. 2) Incomplete and/or impotent solution used to distract from other glaring failures.

Also to anyone reading, invention of Hulks would be uber sweet, i mean, its not as if it half a f***ing billion ISK is it?...
Note to all, What I say may be infact of a more humorous tone than comes accross. |

From the patch notes under the Manufacturing heading:
Data Interface BPC and Data Interface Material drops have been increased.

Agents aren't the only place you can get datacores from either, they drop in exploration sites, I've picked up enough to do a decent amount of invention already.

two very different things shadow was talking about datacores not interfaces it would be nice to know if limits are changing or if they will be cheaper

I guess it depends on whether you consider the current prices for datacores too low or not. The interface BPCs and their components are very expensive, certainly considering you need 12 interfaces to do all kinds of invention. First rough estimate to get going in 1 field of invention is 3b+ investment, excluding variable costs.
Price of datacores lies between 5-30m per item mostly, hard to say beforehand if that is too high or too low. Guess it depends on how much more expensive/cheap CCP wants invention to be compared to T2 manufacturing through BPOs. Personally I see no reason to intervene in the datacore market just now, as its still a market in development. From my POV its not a big problem, so giving it time shouldn't cause too much problems.

datacores will become cheaper and more available once the current t2 lottery is out of t2 bpos to distribute ___________________________________

pre tense or post tense - either way we will need to test and see how exploration > invention now stacks up
