Alright, techies:
I'm interested in exporting mineral prices out of the game and onto my computer in a data file. I don't know how difficult this is but I'm willing to try some crazy ideas (maybe even having a character logged in at all times?).
Help me brainstorm! Is this at all possible?
Thanks. _

OOP? Shouldn't this be market?
But, answering your question, click the "export to file" button. The one just below the market orders.
For a slightly more (and in some ways less) detailed view, check out the Market Data OCR project by Dr Slurm.

I should focus this question a bit. I want to do it automatically every hour or so without clicking anything.
Marking might have been the right category but I wasn't sure if exporting data would be considered out-of-pod. Besides, the marketing guys are pencil pushers not programmers.
Thanks for the link - I'll check it out. _

You think if there was an automatic way to feed data out of the client to your computer or to a website that a website wouldn't exist to show updated prices of all commodities in EVE?
This would add MASSIVE amounts of traffic to the database servers, thus it is not possible and probably will never be.

We went for the trained monkey automation system for our market export website. And we don't even have to feed them! Its a great deal! ---- EVE-Central.com - Your EVE economic and corporate site, featuring the inter-region market browser |

It wasn't a stupid question, really, considering the effectiveness of branched RSS feeds. Who said anything about pounding a database server? _

Edited by: Bryan Bartlett on 29/01/2007 21:45:23 I appreciate the complexity of what you are trying to do.
As it stands, if I understand correctly, you are looking for the buy/sell value of minerals in each region, automatically sent to a file, that you design a program to parse the raw data and send you alerts saying "hey, the Forge is extremly high on buying, and the citadel sell prices have bottomed out."
Eve-central does a good job at this, but is flawed as it relys on member uploads. I personally use it to check from system I am in to region, then upload a new market dump for the item they reccomend, to see if they still reccomend it.
However, dumping only works if you are in that region, one would have to be in each region to keep those sort of tabs.
There is only 1 thing in the game that allows searching between regions, and that is the contract system.
However, with the mineral scam in place, this is not a viable option. (though be great if a person with a lot of money could buy them out, check which ones are legal, report the ones that arnt :P)
I propose this then. Obviously, you are only interested in Empire regions, which cuts down on where you have to go greatly. Find border systems, that is one jump away from say 2 or 3 other regions. This maximizes your alt to region ratio.
This way, you check prices where your at, with the dump, jump to the other nearby regions, dump, log onto another alt, ect.
I cant tell you WHICH systems are best, id have to study the maps closely. http://www.ombeve.co.uk/ may be a good place for you to begin your study.
EDIT: just an example, Huola in THe bleak lands is a good spot, since it is 1 jump from devoid, and 2 jumps from Domain and Heimatar
