Ebay has not done this for all games they have done this to all noticable games.
Do a search on ebay for WOW gold, world of warcraft, world of warcraft gold, i couldn't find any actual money for gold auctions just some guides,
i searched for Eve online and there was plenty of isk for sale, i noted them all down, came back today same auctions still up new auctions to replace the ones that have been baught out.
so before you bless ebay there only doing this to get blizzard off there back not all game companys.
Isk sellers have not been affected in any way.
RA/GOONs will not fall and there member bases leave to get real jobs like so many have suggested.

Or they could be trudging through a massive list game by game and they haven't got to EVE stuff yet...

Games i have found so far to still have currecny listed are Runescape Eve online Star wars galaxies

If you are to successfully stamp out a problem, you need to do it step by step. WoW is probably their first.
How about giving them chance to act on their promise before crying "LIARS!", huh?

Just about all EQ plat sales go through PlayerAuctions or is bought directly from IGN. As to items, theres only a handful of tradable items worth buying nowdays.

Edited by: Apis Dorsetta on 30/01/2007 10:14:53 The problem with people that buy ISK is that it allows out of game people that are rich to have an advantage in game, which isnt fair on anyone that can just pay for the game. Why should doing well in the real world mean I can do well in game? I play games to GET AWAY from real world problems like lack of actual money.

By way of analogy;
A guy tries to win more chess games by playing 6 different people at once. We're all impressed by his dedication and skill to the game.
Another guy tries to win more games by buying 3 extra pawns and a rook to replace his losses. We all think he's a jerk who's missing the point (although he's still better than the guy who tries to avoid losing by flipping the board off the table when he loses his T2-fitted Caldari Navy Knight).

Bravo that is a beautiful explanation, it deserves to be stickied or maybe it should be taught by Aura or whatever her name was at the beginning of the tutorial.

At first it looks like an excellent analogy, however it is flawed. A guy does not try to win more games by playing 6 games of chess, he plays 1 game and uses 5 other alts standing over his sholder telling him what to do. A GTC buyer does not "buy 3 extra pawns", rather he hires a consultant to take the job of those 5 other people. That is the correct contex. -- Slot 10 Blacklight's Modified 'GMhaX' implant +8% Pwnage FREE |

Click on the entry and it takes you to a spiffy interface that lets you select how much gold, what server and what alliance.
I honestly do not think ebay can (or will for that matter, but that's another story) get rid of gold/isk/gil/ultramegaiwin sword traders at all. If they did clamp down on these traders all that would happen is you will see entries along the lines of "buy this mouldy sandwich and receive ultramegaiwin sword for free". Since the virtual products are now promotional "giveaways" there is very little ebay can do without crossing a very tentative, and time consuming, line of selective censoring of entries.
I think the news about ebay banning the sale of virtual goods was nothing more than political philibustering.
