Gday guys
Long time player finally returning after a big (2 year) break. I have made a new guy and (This one) and would like to do Faction Warfare with him.
I would like to specialize in the smaller side of FW, mainly in frigs and because a gust of wind is enough to kill me in the PvP I have experienced before.
So a couple of questions;
1. Which FW faction has in general opinion the most active/friendly/likely to take newbies into fleet reputation to them?\
2. I'm skilling core skills but also have the isk to fly whatever t1/pirate frig needed, I'm a bit of a slow reaction guy at the moment too so which frigs prob best to start in?
3. Are there any great established friendly FW corps about that take newbies on?
4. Mandatory baity question, which faction generally has the most success in Fw?
Cheers guys, and fly dangerous!

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

You can check statistics on dotlan and it's not hard to find FW Corp killboards for most active/'best'. Step into the one that fits you best and flies a lot of frigates.
There is no grey area when the light of reason directs wisdom.

1. Gallente 2. The tanky one. Huge passive tank will let you at least understand what is going on before you pop. Merlin can be a good example if it would not be so limited in damage application. Tristan can be fitted to have just a bit smaller (armor) tank and have good damage application due to drones. Factional frigates will give you best tank, but they are expensive. 3. Yes, check correct forum section. 4. Gallente, Amarr, Caldari, Minmatar.
The question is what is your objective, why you want into FW? If it is ISK - you can find better way around, cause as newbee you will lose a lot of frigates. If it is quick PvP - you are in a right place. But none of you questions will help you here. Cause your main concern is how to get more targets. If you join caldari, you will have over 6000 targets. Gallente will give you only about 5000, amarr - more than 4000 and minmatar - less than 4000. Caldari also give you possibility to get fights next door to trade hubs. For gallente you will have to travel through pirat camps to get to battle field with your new ship.

OP:
Do you really want to listen to some some squeaky FC on teamspeak? Forget joining a corporation til they beg you.
All you need to do is put 3 t1 warp stabs 3 t1 electron blasters and a motor on your merlin and go sit in a novice plex for 10 minutes. It costs .7 mil ISK and you will earn 20 mil ISK.
In the process you will learn that nobody fits enough point to catch you and mostly you fight drones in frig PvP.
After a while sit in a defensive large plex with 3 smart bombs and kill drones. (you can do this mostly afk until you see a red or yellow flash on the third window back of your laptop).
Nobody will respect you but you will get a lot of tears for the wcs.
You don't need friends to "learn" FW pvp. In a month you will have lots of ISK, and lots of pvp experience and no microphone and no kills.

1. This is more about the corp than the faction.
2. Pick a hull that can scram kite (comet, tormentor, etc.)
3. Depends on your definition of great. Quite a few corps will take in newbros, even those that say they won't in their advertisements.
4. Define Success? FW is a war without end. Players define their own goals and markers for success. If your thing is warzone control, no one has been better at controlling the Pendulum than Gallente in the last few years.
