Whenever I've been creating an alt, sitting around toggling for an hour or so it disconnects when I hit the create button.
Can't it just state at the beginning; 'no more alt for you!' and save me the hassle?

Step 1: Create alt, tweak appearance to liking. Get disconnected.
Step 2: Create alt, run through appearance section as fast as possible, trying to make it look like before. Proceed to next section and setup characteristics. Get disconnected.
Step 3: Create alt, run through appearance section again, making look even less like the original despite your best effores, run through the other sections trying to remember your options.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: You get the alt you originally set out to create. ----------

Internet connection isn't the problem, mine is perfect and yet I always *always* get disconnected when creating characters. ----------

Same here. Maybe the game and the computer have difficulties taking up the thread again if there have not been any connection/transfer of data between the two for a while? I dunno, but the only thing that I have trouble with EVE with is CTDs. Pretty annoying tbh.
I got very good computers, and a very stable and fast internet connection, so I cant blame it one any of these two. So I dunno really

Yeah, I've always been under the impression that it's because the server thinks you are doing nothing and are gone when actually you are playing with settings. ----------

Edited by: Plutoinum on 31/01/2007 14:58:10 I think it's something between the login server and the game server, like after logging in you have to enter the game within a certain timeframe, otherwise the 'session' or whatever you call it best times out.
You have the same, if you just log in to your account and wait at the character selection screen for a long time. Then you can't enter the game anymore, but have to start at the login screen again.
Maybe an intended behaviour for security or whatever, but the timeframe is just too short to create a character. ______________

linksys isnt crap, now if it was netgear I would agree.
But to be fare, if the router has gone bad (it happens) then it would do the random disconnect thing as discribed.

It times you out if you don't log in after five minutes or so.
The check availability refreshes that time.
Goof around with character looks, if it feels like you're hitting that five minute mark hit next, enter a name, check availability but don't create if you're not done tweaking the looks. Then just hit back.
That'll give you more time to finish up.
