The February release has been deployed on February 9th during a regular downtime. Please use this thread for general feedback and discussions.
By far the most important feature of this release is the ability to trade skill points between player characters with the help of Skill Extractors and Skill Injectors. We also see a new default camera (the classic camera is of course still available and can be activated in the game settings menu), visual improvements and a good amount of Quality of Life features. The release contains also bug fixes and the experimental feature of combat music during engagements.
The full details of all changes and improvements are available in the February release patch notes.
Please report issues with the release on the PC in the February release issues thread. For Mac users, there is, as always, a thread on the Macintosh forums for discussion of this release.

So a polite question...
Which structure do we have to burn down at being asked to pay billions more for skillbooks to fly ships in configurations we've already paid for and trained for?
I've got 3 characters, 2 of which can fly T2 triage Chimera and Archon, and one that can fly triage Archon, Chimera and Thanatos... in addition to Fighters V.
You have now landed me with a 3.5 BILLION ISK bill just for the skillbooks to be able to have them ready for Triage again, not to mention months of training.
I'm not happy, CCP. |

I'm not happy, CCP. Quite so. CCP should at least provide free Force Auxiliary skillbooks for those characters who have already invested heavily into carrier skills. Having to train skills again to achieve the same thing is bad enough, but having to pay serious ISK for the skillbooks adds insult to injury. |

Would you please refrain from turning on settings that I have specifically turned off. I do not want that new camera and I do not want to see improvements you made on it (that have not happened to begin with) and I do not want to turn it off again post-patch when I had turned it off pre-patch. Thank you.

With the implementation of skill trading, can we get the option to remove skills entirely and not just drain their skill points. I'd like to remove specific skills and their pre-requisits but am unable to remove the pre-requsits skill points because the latter skill is still injected and unable to be removed from my head. |

You don't nee to have the pre-reqs trained any more to inject skillbooks, so you should be able to remove SP from the pre-reqs once you have drained it from all the skills that require it:
From the patchnotes:
Quote:
- Skills can now be injected at any time, regardless of requirements.
- Skills with untrained prerequisites can now be added to the queue if they come after prerequisite training.

As of 2016-02-09 GMT 09:12:39 my skill training time since 2008-12-02 GMT 14:25 has been made Trivial by this P2W feature
All that time, using pen and paper to draw up character sheets (later with eve-mon o7), alarm clocking skill queues, min/max learning skills and implants before pvp, etc means nothing to you Greedy scoundrels expect for you see it as a fooking Profit percentage to exploit.
You have become like EA Suits.
Oh and your Bullshite reasoning in those devblogs, about how sad it is to buy characters from the bazaar with consequences tied into them is not "fun" to deal with, or your Bullshite posting how you listened to the ""community"" (extra " for Sion) where we all love this feature is dumb.
The reasons why we have Plex and the Character bazaar had to do with the Company dealing with Real Money Trading in this game. But I guess from now on it's just a skill training time Service, and if you pay a hell of a lot more, maybe you feel like you're at Starbucks. source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEK5I2lY6hI (Hilmar Petursson: The Human Brain is the Platform DICE 2014)

Switching to a new camera mode disables the overlay. So every time you switch back to the default camera mode you also have to enable the overlay again. Would be nicer if the client remembers whether you have overlay enabled or not. |

Unfortunately not. The skill extractor locked me from extracting skills points on a pre-req saying it needed this skill at L4 due to X and Y skill, even though I had just drained them of all their SP. |

One positive feedback point: the matte Tengu looks fairly nice.
However ... you shrunk the engine flares of the Tengu goo much. Especially the 2 long, vertical nozzle of the Interdiction Nullification subsystem to the side of the big main nozzle show that you are lazy and only put an ellipse on the engine instead of a properly filling rectangle.

In my opinion the way skill trading has been introduced crosses a line. CCP might think that this is a great new cash cow for now but you seem to have overlooked the financial demographic of your player base. I imagine the sight of players watching other players (particularly new ones) overtake them simply because they have more money will become the biggest reason NOT to play EVE online the game has ever seen. #paytowin?
Moving onto the second biggest reason NOT to play EVE online: the continuing and pointless addition of more and more skill training for nothing in return. I accept that with the new pay to win dynamic, CCP have added some mitigation to this topic (I hope the intended sarcasm was detected), but what about the other 75% of YOUR player base? This time around itGÇÖs the turn of capital pilots to bend over, only this time there's nothing slippery to ease the painGǪ
GǪGǪ I feel like IGÇÖm talking to a brick wallGǪGǪ. why botherGǪGǪGǪGǪ.
Long story short: CCP have set clear precedence in the past when racialising other ship skills such as destroyers, battlecruisers etc. ItGÇÖs very simple, if someone pays money to train something and you accept that money then you should honour that agreement, otherwise itGÇÖs stealing mmmmkay?????
Does anybody else feel the glob of CCP spit in their face?! *rages*
Squeezing players for extra cash for things such as cosmetics is as far as CCP should have allowed their greed to take them. I used to think EVE was a game for everyone from all walks of life. I believed for a long time that CCP understood that pay to win games ultimately only ever engineer a broken player dynamic, destined for failure. Years of adding pointless skills, the industry changes, then the sov changes and now this BS. The only single redeeming thing IGÇÖve seen in a long time is the prospect of the new citadels, but even then theyGÇÖre probably five years overdue.
Tread carefully CCP, you have a lot of disgruntled customers at the moment.

And the idea of people being able to buy skills makes those of us who actually have invested the time to train them look like chumps. I can't believe this was popular with anyone but CCP's accountants.... |

The new camera is still worse than the current. While you've given the options to remove the offset camera and the really annoying FOV changes, there's still 2 big issues.
The camera is more sluggish to control. You've put more weight behind it, which makes it slide around more, making it harder to accurately place the camera for 5 degree scans. Heck, the old camera is not exactly the most responsive camera already, and making it more so just baffles me.
You've lowered the vertical movement rate compared to the horizontal, which frankly is a STUPID idea in the fully 3D environment like EVE Online. The slightly more sluggish camera I can deal with, but this is just completely bonkers.
I spent a good 2 hours figuring out how to get rid of it when Fallout 4 did the exact same thing. Restricting the vertical camera movement does NOT belong on a game controlled by a mouse. |

+1 The biggest thing which bugs me is the price of the new skill books (and the old) and the addition of new fighter skill books. It's not all about having to train something new to get a partial new feature, but my skill plan. I'm one of these stupid idiots, who keep trying to skill with high efficiency. I have like 13.5m skill points in Drones, since I trained nearly everything to 5 in this group, when I had the perfect mapping for it. But now... I'm out of free remap points and can't easily switch back. It feels like CCP just slapped me into my face for using their "skill attribute feature". Silly me
What about 2 free remaps, to fix this problem? |

'nough said... +10 to this. Took ages to skill a carrier, mostly though for its no longer exisiting long-range capability: You guys still didn't remove the Jump Drive Calibration Skill of the Carrier. This should have done when nerfing the Carriers from long-range jump-vessels to jump-just-around-the-corner vessels... Just look at the Dreadnought Requirements...
skill transfer... most probably a good thing, practically eliminating the thinking of young chars as easy targets... Let's just hope the downside of this system won't end in some kind of pay2win... |

I typed out a cutting synopsis of this February Release, and the decisions made in the last year or two by CCP on the direction they seem to have for Eve Online. Then realized.... it would most likely be either edited due to it being 'non-issue' posting, if not outright removed. So to a KISS version of it.
Short term gains vs. long term losses.
Question being:
Why does it appear CCP has taken the former as policy, damning with torpedoes and turning a purposeful blind eye to what the latter shall bring them as a viable company?
One account inactive since time's run out and I haven't thrown more at it. Three still active, waiting to see if it'll be worth adding more subscription time to them, in the face of current decision priorities in a glass tower very far from where I sit.

+1 for the new camera
I've got a free extractor with the 3 months sub and I've used it to get rid of some skills I have trained and used long ago. This is really cool, not to mention that I bought another 500K points from the market. I accepted the sometimes long training times as part of EVE, but it's kinda cool to inject Heavy Missile Spec V instead of waiting 18 days for it. So +1 for this too.

When you have the new camera mode on, the tracking/look at should NOT be above the 'jump/warp' commands.
For example if you set autopilot and click on the next destination on the top left (The route), Look at/track should be below jump to. It's bugging me a good deal because the first thing I often click will be 'jump/warp', so it's nice if its all streamlined. |

You offer to allow us to extract that wasted time and sell it. Good fuckin job. You ask us to pay an equivalent amount to the money wasted to un-waste the time spent training it. You greedy corporate stooges.
You then steal a portion of that additional money when we want to reinject it back into the new skill which replaced the old skill, forcing us to spend even more to get that lost sp. You **** all over those of us with progressively longer time spent training in this game.

For those of you that wanted this BS buy skillpoints feature put in, you shouldn't be complaining when they make some of your training obsolete by splitting your existing skills and putting new ones in to make you have to train to do things you were already able to do.
What exactly did you think was going to happen when they added a way to buy skillpoints? Well of course they need to think up ways for you to buy them like making more of your existing skills obsolete... I'm sure this is just the beginning.
Yes they have done this a bit before in the past but I'm sure we will be seeing alot more of this in the future as it opens up a ton more revenue for them.

The February Release with it's attendant SP extractors/injectors have not been live for a full 24 hours.
There's at least one toon with a little over 73M in injected SPs to assign as he/she sees fit.
Seventy. Three. Million. Skill. Points.
Since there's no weeks' long cooldown on them. No limit. Nothing that stands in the way of CCP grabbing up bundles of O' Mighty Dollahs (or your local equivalent of Greenbacks)
With a big enough bankroll, yes Eve just became Pay2Win/Progress.
I sukk at math, but my mind boggles how much pure profit CCP got for that shiny trinket that's available in the end from the New Eden Store. Ya know, that place where we were promised not much more than vanity items (SKINs, Clothing, Tattoos, Cyborg limbs, Character Re-sculpt, double or triple SP training on same account).
I'm sure some in the glass tower in Iceland are rubbing grubby hands together. Look at all this munnies we get to throw at a VR game still not in a Beta stage! Yeah. Let me know how betting the farm on VR will keep CCP a viable gaming company.
-*-*-
Then the new camera behaviour. Very pretteh for video capture. All shiny and new. Very.... VR like. As though the upcoming Valkyrie is going to be linked up with Eve Online and the pew targets expand. After all, linking up Eve and Dust turned out so well.. umm... hold that thought, when does Dust get vacuumed out of existence again? Since it's not, ya know, Making Serious Cash as an Eve add-on.
I get that the Legacy Coding for camera needed some TLC. Some re-writing so it gels with what's running on TQ3. But instead of going for a seamless finish, you went full bore different for change's sake. What? I might not be the bestest with software, but if there's Only One True Way to do something in a program, then why are there so many programs that Do The Same Silly Thing?
That is, unless you Need to chance it so it syncs up with Valkyrie. So those with vision and/or motion issues are removed for not being able to 'evolve' and being sticks in mud.
Dear fellow capsuleers of different ranges of time spent with Eve Online....
We've been sold out and tossed downstream. I know Eve isn't a charity, and CCP is a company. But when the bottom line is the ONLY thing focused on during changes, well greed destroys more than a constructs.
Not quite two years of playing the daily insanity that is Eve. I'll make it official my stance. Gratz, I join the Greek tragedy chorus. Eve's on life support now.
Yay. Bitter Vet cynical.

I wish to supply a little feedback concerning the changes to fatigue, specificly the ones where you mentioned the intention to shorten the maximum fatigue. While i agree 30 days is a little long, i feel like 5 days is too short. I do not know specific numbers (obviously) but i expect there are players who are only able to log on during the weekends. A 5 day timer would not effect those players in any relevant way. I would suggest making the maximum be 7 days at least, to ensure that specificly those players are effected, too. This would ensure fatigue actually has the intended effect, in my oppinion. I realise there may also be players that log on once every two weeks, once every month, or whatever, but i expect those to be too few in number to be a specific concern.
I would like to, additionally, suggest two other changes, firstly a flat reduction of the fatigue buildup (not too much, i would say about 20% maximum). Secondly, and probably more importantly, i would like to suggest making the fatigue decrease not being a linear proces, but one that starts off decreasing fast, with the reduction in fatigue slowing down as it gets further from the point it was at upon landing after the jump. I feel like this last change would make capitals a little bit more viable for a trip of, say, 3 jumps, while still limiting the speed with which they travel, and also significantly limit the ability to undertake the large kind of trips that prompted you to make this change in the first place. I believe that this would give players who have a limited amount of time to play for a single session or a limited ability to choose those specific moments the option to join a fight, and request an exit cyno to GTFO if real life requires that. A significant part of the original player base has a job, a wife, children, or any combination there of, and none of these easily permit the player to prioritize on a game over each of these. |

New camera feedback:
1) Change the tracking feature to work like old camera. Ie, a) toggle to turn on/off, rather than hold 'c', and b) track ships that are in warp.
2) Do not turn off tactical overlay after each undock and each gate jump. Have it remember the last setting.
Thanks!

New camera sucks.
Let me be more specific: - zooming speed is too drastic. One touch and you go from full zoom to waaay far out. you zoom in and same thing happens. - can not pan around while pressing the 2 buttons - can not track objects. camera centers on object but when the object moves (or you do, can't tell) the camera does not follow (maybe i'm simply not understanding what the purpose of the track function is... but as teh word implies, I guess it should... you know... TRACK! It doesn't.) - can not center on objects like the old one. I tried this with ships when clicking on the overview and anoms or celestials (planets). Moreover, the button to do it from the HUD is gone. - camera doesn't like looking directly down or up. It twists and moves around a lot, which would be fine for World of Warship...BUT THIS IS FRIGGIN 3D GAME.
Also, it got all screwey when going into the warp tunnel (it happened twice). I was looking at another ship when it did the second time around. It scared the crap out of me, only other time I saw video doing that is when a video card gets fried.
Oh! It also goes into fishbowl mode (thanks for bringing back EVE 2003) every now and then (twice in a couple of hours). I *think* is after jumping systems. To get it to reset I just click the orbit camera, again, very anoying.
Overall, a lot of funtionality was changed or removed for no apparent reason or improvement.
Disabling this thing until fixed or I'm forced to use it.
In the end, Hilmar's code wasn't so bad after all. |

I do agree, i noticed this, too, and it annoys me. I fly logi in Sansha Incursions QUITE a lot, and the top-down view gives me a nice, clean view of what is going on in terms of positioning, where lasers are going and even things like invuls being activated. Just curious: Why is there no queue to add skills/skill levels into from which you want to extract SP? Why do you have to click approve every single skill level and then at the end approve the final extraction? This is just as bad a click mania as it is with PI and you would have thought you had learned from that.

Perhaps with regard to cash for skills, CCP may not be quite as daft as I had presumed.
In the short term it will generate some money for CCP, then as the short lived market will surely and effectively die, CCP will announce that they have (finally listened to the overwhelmingly negative feedback) and do away with this fundamentally flawed cash grab mechanic.
Short term cash grab, and listening to their paying subscriber base, a win-win for them.
This is not a signature.

What I am most angry about is how eve keeps catering to the new characters because I have exceeded 100mil sp I only get 150k skill points from an injector but a relatively new toon that hasn't supported CCP financially since 2006 gets 500k.
How is this fair?
I trained and paid for a 2nd account for years to fly carriers because of the stringent skill plan it took to then change it where a few months old character can now do the same?
CCP why do you hate your older player base?
Why do you keep making things gravy for new subscribers where the older toons had to grind for everything? |

I've got a free extractor with the 3 months sub and I've used it to get rid of some skills I have trained and used long ago. This is really cool, not to mention that I bought another 500K points from the market. I accepted the sometimes long training times as part of EVE, but it's kinda cool to inject Heavy Missile Spec V instead of waiting 18 days for it. So +1 for this too.
Yeah, because it's all about convenience, right?
Look, I went through pages and pages of complains about this story, but I'm not sure what these changes will bring. Time will tell and surely not ranting about changes. This is not p2win in my eyes, you don't get better weapons or ships if you pay like in other games. We all know that the trained skill alone doesn't mean much without knowing how to use it. Perhaps it's just a lot more juicy cash-trained targets, flying around like idiots in expensive stuff. We'll see.
I like it or not this is how it is for now, I want to stay so I adapt. Maybe later I see that it changed the game in a way that I don't like anymore, but that's the future.
This is just a hobby for me, I have a life and I spend some time with this game too. Like I said, it was ok for me to wait the training time, but it's ok this way too. I don't want to spend too much money on EVE so I'm happy to wait as before, but why shouldn't I use an opportunity? Maybe I use the money I get flying around or cash a PLEX or two to buy an injector sometimes, speeding up training. Does it really make me a bad man? :) Or you tell me that none of you guys who are so against these changes will never buy an injector? :)

Remember, for those who live in nullsec, that you would have to plan your training and therefore have a mobile library of skills for when you could use them? And if necessary transport them about when you had to move. Now this is another simplification of the game. I doubt we will ever see a Titan skill book loss in a freighter KM anymore or any other significant value skillbook, why, cause now you can inject all skill, (not withstanding natural selection).
I am sorry for sounding negative about a feature that i am sure is popular and yes, i will use myself so as not to loose books in transit, but again i think we have removed another level of risk and its another simplification of the game. |

My General Feedback for this February Release, in a few short points.
1. Yup the SP thing is a cash grab P2Win/Progress flight path to Hek local for CCP. Hope you guys spend that cash fast, it won't be around long!
2. The new shiny Camera of Nausea is NOT ready for prime time. Not even close, not a few small tweaks away. But since the 'Classic/Legacy' camera setting is on the chopping block for a month or so from now, when will CCP be sending crates of Dramamine on the free to paying customers that remain and try to fly with it, not sit docked and spin ships?
3. Promises still broken. What else is new with any Release, Update, or Mini-Expansion in the last 12 or so months? So it's SSDD for CCP and their trustworthiness. At this point, why not just swear to be up to no good with the game client and your paying customer base, and quit the smokescreens?
Summation:
Wow. Wreck your company and drive off rabid loyal customer base, in a handful of easy steps instruction manual rough draft testing on TQ?
In the words of the immortal Mister Horse. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. No sir, I don't like it.

Hello, I love your game.
Firstly, please forgive any breach of etiquette in the location of this post. I am not really a forum warrior of any sort, and am not really down with the protocall.
The new camera is pretty sweet, but I can't yet use it full time. The 'look at' functionality doesn't seem to work while warping. I can not aim to D-scan while warping. If there is a way, and I am just missing it I am sure I will find out shortly. I feel like this needs to be an easy operation. -if it's not already and I am just derping here- With the current tracking camera functionality, it is as simple as clicking on what you want to scan I'd like that level of ease in the new system.
I have also noticed a minor glitch in the in station inventory window. I will give a lot of detail in case the ships involved have anything to do with it. Docked in a station sitting in an Epithal. While sitting in the ship I try to move items from the item hanger into another ship docked in the station -a sigil- I am given a message that only 5513 units can be transferred due to "No room for more in container" pop-up. (5,513 * 0.38m3 item = 2094.94 m3) If I make the transfer and then hop into the sigil it actually has 4,267.3m3 of total space -2 T2 Expanded cargo hold fitted, and there was one 5m3 module I had in the sigil's hold- strange.
I haven't done the math to see if it's not recognizing the Cargo modules. I am not complaining about this issue, it's not really a big deal. But I did want to make you aware of it if you weren't already.
There was also an occasional glitch in the fitting window. I have switched ships and then deactivated a module, only to not be able to activate it again. I know the fitting works, and there hadn't been a re-ballance. The issue was corrected by closing and then re opening the fitting window. I suspect that somehow the, cpu/power grid/slot lay out/ some limiting factor?, held over from the previous ship I was in. Once again no big deal -once I stopped pooping my pants- now that I am aware that it sometimes happens. Again I just wanted to make you aware.
I am unsure if I can repeat the fitting window issue. The cargo transfer thing happens every time.
Sorry so long, I figured while I am reporting, might as well get in all in.
Love being able to look out of the new structures. Have been longing for a "window" in my station -or captains quarters- for a long time.
Long live New Eden,
-Shaz

It's not Quite a glitch or bug. In order for the Cargo Modules to do their math and give the space, your pilot has to make said ship active. Basically, in order for % to happen and numbers get crunches, you have to put your tush in that ship's driving seat. Otherwise that's on mod that resets to neutral/not math-ing. This is a reversal of an oopsie I occasionally make, where I use another ship for storage while missioning, then have to unload some cargo as the Overdrive takes some of my space away and cannot undock to go sell the loot once I finally switch ships.
Brain in a Box get's very OCD with some fitting choices. Hope that helps somewhat.

1st: Thank you CCP for improving the game and for your hard work. I have two suggestions considering the new camera:
- Bring the auto-tracking back. It was very useful for finding people with D-Scan, I think clicking every time -½c-+ if you want to center on an object now does not improve the game experience.
- My 2nd suggestion is more UI related: It's a bit a mess now with all the camera-buttons and to me not very intuitive. You have buttons for the scan/probing, autopilot, cargo and all the new camera options. I'd find it more useful to group the camera-buttons like you did it with the scanning/probing ones.
But that's it already. Keep it on!

I am sorry for sounding negative about a feature that i am sure is popular and yes, i will use myself so as not to loose books in transit, but again i think we have removed another level of risk and its another simplification of the game. Skill training was a unique focus of Eve including its planning and resourcing via books which had to be sourced and transported around New Eden. Well not now and i feel this is another blow to the uniqueness of the game. I would recommend bringing back pre-reqs for skill injection otherwise we have lost another logistical and planning element of the game.
I completely agree - perhaps CCP should implement a feature whereby if you are pod killed while having Level - 0 skills injected then those injected but untrained skills aren't transferred to your new clone and are lost.
I have to say my ship looks a hell of a lot better than it did a year year ago (except for the sickly yellow colour obviously) so thumbs up to CCP on that. But given the problems with Iceland's banking sector I can't help wondering whether CCP have hired some bankers into the company - their strategy of catering to new customers desires while ignoring existing customers is exactly how British behave in the retail market here in the UK. |

I'm somewhat disappointed that CCP has chosen not to reward loyal players that have recently subbed with skill extractors. Having just subbed three accounts I was expecting to receive extractors pro rata for the time they still have to run , but it appears this is not the case, my request was dismissed out of hand. |

I like the new Ore-Development-Skin, but i could not find any note about it or the other graphic changes to the Ore-Ships in the patchnote. Please make it clear for me. Is it a bug or a feature?

1) Change the tracking feature to work like old camera. Ie, a) toggle to turn on/off, rather than hold 'c', and b) track ships that are in warp.
2) Do not turn off tactical overlay after each undock and each gate jump. Have it remember the last setting.
Thanks!
For those curious - on SISI, the tracking camera now continues to follow ships when they are on grid and in warp, so their destination can be seen.
Also, the tactical overlay remembers what you've set it to when you undock or jump through a gate.
CCP, I've thought of a 3rd feedback item for the camera:
3) Please allow the zoom on the new camera to go as far out as the old camera. The new Tactical Camera can see much less of the field at once than the Orbit Camera, which can see less of the field at once than the old camera.
Thanks again!

This, please. For some of us who have older eyes the tactical overlay really helps. Having to turn it on again and again and again when jumping through gates becomes a real chore to simply enjoying the game.
Also, a Thank You for providing the options to disable the constant weaving, bobbing, shaking, and throbbing of the screen every time the ship takes an action. On behalf of about a half-dozen other players that I've talked to who do not wish to experience motion sickness, the ability to disable these features allows us to enjoy the User Interface, and thus, the game.

I see you added a new animation thing to the dscan window when the list of the results gets populated today. Is this intended as a nerf to dscan since it takes longer to use it now?

Please patch this back without "Fade In" effects. This is crap, you can't spam the dscan button anymore if you have a lot of stuff in it |

o7 Guys at CCP, I'd like to ask for one small thing: a warning popup when injecting skills for which you don't fulfill the requirements. Luckily I have not yet managed to lose skillbooks to this, but as everyone knows there's no chance of retrieval once injected.
I just feel like this should be in place so that you don't end up e.g. having to pay twice for say capital skillbooks, since every other (irreversible) happening in the client (destroying rigs, installing implants, first time jumping into low etc.) needs to be approved at least once before proceeding.
Please excuse the crudity of this post ;) |
