So i'm looking into buying an abaddon so i can do some level 4 missions, but my isk is pretty limited and all setups i see on the forums want me to buy a heckloado f rigs 40 mill each or whatever they cost, that i can't afford, also it's always talking about using t2 guns, which i cannot use yet either. My skills aren't all that but i can fit most t1 modules. So i'm just looking for a nice setup that i can do level 4's, if it's impossible then i guess it is, but still point me in the direction of a nice cheap setup that i can use. PLease don't post anything like: I u not have 15 million sp specced in amarr bs u shood not fly abaddon" posts, they really don't contribute anything. Thanks

its hard not to post, "if you not have 15 million spec in amarr...blah blah", because that is so very important. honestly, i dont think you need to be uber spec in amarr so much as you need pretty decent flying skills such as: 1 navigation skills, engineering skills and not so much but important mechanic and electronics skills. 2. Gunnery does help but i think you could get by with no problem with tech one goodies. i suppose a cheap setup would be...and one that might work is..
X6 mega pulse I's X2 heavy nos
X1 booster X2 tracking computer X1 web or ab or whatever
X2 larger repper X1 nano X3 mission specific hardener X1 tracking or heat sink X1 power diagnostic or rcu depending on your skills if you are low in skills.
i prolly would not fly that for anything...but it would be cheap i guess.

That setup eats around 117cap/s while generating only about 80cap/s and that's only if you keep the cap booster on all the time. --- Mandatory disclaimer: These are my thoughts, not my corps/alliances. ---

I'll shoot some points out there:
The Abaddon is a very SP forgiving ship, and it's great for selective mission running. That said, I've recently come back to Eve to fly the Baddon and still have under 6M SP - however they are almost all combat focused. After playing for 3 weeks (and salvaging, trading, and making rigs) my total assets are over 1B. I'd almost have that in liquid cash if I didn't buy a GTC .
-6 pulses and NOS top side is good, without Tachs or expensive tech I's (tho mega mod pulses run around 5M each so they aint that bad...) you might have a tough time breaking tank on some of the higher end BS'es in lvl 4's OR simply not kill fast enough before your cap runs out.
-Medium I'd go for more cap - eutectics are 5M and CR' 2s are 9 - 10 M per, the SS tracking puter is huge boost but it has almsot doubled in price from 25 to 50M in the last 6 months - Its worth saving up for tho.
- Lows - resists, resists, resists stay with 4 and a DC. I've gotten by fine with one measy accomodation repairer.
Minimum ballpark I'd look for fitting an Abaddon and taking on the easier missions is 30 - 50 M:
You can get the lower pulses cheap couple E500's total top expense maybe 10M including crystals - start out with MF and Radio.
Middle go with one cheap trackign puter and 3 cap regens...if you make em Eutechtics you will be spending around 20M for meds.
Lows: Best DC you can afford: DC 2's are comign down in price nicely (bout 9-10 m) if not either go pseudo (maybe 3-4) or IFF (7-8). Have all the 50% active hardeners ready 2 of each type, SAVE for faction ones ASAP and look around don't pay more than 20M for any standard 55% faction.
Stick with fighting Blood raiders and Sanshas. Dont do Extravanganza or worlds collide.
Hell do 15 courier type missions and sell off the +4 implant (possibly) to fit your ship.
Get insurance. No matter how broke you are.
Get the cap rigs ASAP, they should be coming down in price soon too. If they don't mail me and I can let you know what I've been selling em at. 35 M each is most you should ever pay there - bet you can find em now for 30.
Cheers and safe flying!

I thoroughly disagree, you need pretty high skills to make this ship worthwhile, when you're low on SPs and cash you're much better off with an Apocalypse. The Abaddon sucks cap like there's no tomorrow, you need to be able to handle that. With 6 guns and 2 nos you loose way too much dps, missions will take way too long. With 6 pulses (and no afterburner to get catch up) you're simply not going to break the tank of long distance battleships, including Sansha and Bloodraiders.

So i bought an abaddon and fitted it like this, mostly from stuff i salvaged from my old apocalypse before it got destroyed: High: 8 Mega Afocal Pulse Masers Med: X5 Prototype engine enervator, Heavy F-RX Prototype Cap Boost, 2 Fixed paralell link capacitor recharger. Low: Large Armor repair II, Pseudoelectron containment field (dmg control), Energized adative nano membrane, three energized platings Explosive, Kinetic and thermal, CPR.
After buying platinum Insurance i still have 88 million left to do as i please with, are capacitor rigs really worth it or should i wait until i make some more money? I guess you underestiamted how many SP i have, but i'm at 7.5 million sp so it's not that bad, still, i'm not specced in amarr so large t2 lasers are a few months away. Thanks for the help with the fittings, and as i said, if it is impossible to do it then i guess it is.

The key to the abaddon for missioning is going to be energy weapon cap use rigs.
Fortounatly the Abaddon comes with tons of powergrid with which to mount these and training up the skill is relativly painless.
It also doesnt hurt that the rigs cost a "mere" 12m apiece, or so, give or take. For a full pulse fit abaddon they would probably be the most expensive thing you purchase. They will also have the largest effect on your capacitor solvency ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |
