...when it's all been done before? What do you say when it's all been said before. Heck and probably better than I ever could anyway.
I mean - look at the in game recruitment channel...look at the forums here even. Recruitment posts are getting bigger and better. Flashier! More information! Here look at this! Here look at that! Promising this, promising that, asking for this, demanding that, requiring that thing over there, wanting things somewhere around the corner that you've never even heard of.
Reminds me of late night (early morning) infomercials. "You just set it, and forget it!" "Look at how fast this thing can blend!" "You too could be the proud owner of this entire knife set!" "For just 347 easy payments of 39.99..."
Heh.
So what do you do? All the stats I could give, everyone else gives - and probably better ones at that.
So I figured I'd try something different...I'd just...talk.
We've all heard the phrase "Gamer Widow" haven't we? WoW widow, EQ widow, CoH widow, EvE widow. And the lovely phrases we get from our significant others that go along with them. "Honey when are you going to get off that stupid computer?!" "You love that game/computer more than you do me!" "Why are you talking to the computer?!" "You need to go out more and meet real people" etc etc etc.
Or the phrases we've all used. "Just one more mission I promise..." "Just let me finish this belt..." "I just want to get X so I can do Y and then..."
Heck I even warned my fiance nigh 20 times - "honey I'm a gamer. Honey I'm a gamer, say it back to me so I know you understand." Heh.
How many hours do we spend gaming? A day? A week? A month? A year?
I remember one of my CoH characters, my former main, took 350+ hours to get to 50. And I was one of the faster ones - and that wasn't even counting the 10 or so other characters I had.
And a game like EvE? With so much freedom, so many time based skills, so many things to do and explore - lord only knows how much time I've put into this game. And, perhaps more importantly, how many more hours I'm going to spend playing it.
So I say all this to say what, exactly...
Here's the thing. I could talk to you about Empire of Destiny, talk about our goals, our future, where we are, where we want to be and everything like that, and if you want to know the true details then please contact me and I'll be more than happy to talk to you about them. But honestly, look around - every single post has all that stuff in there.
I'm thinking it's time for a bit more humanity and a bit less stats.
How many hours are you going to spend playing EvE? If you're serious about it, a whole heck of a lot. And, to me at least, the most important thing is just /who/ you spend that time with. Who are you talking to while mining, while blowing up NPCs or randomly dipping through low-sec, no-sec looking for a thrill?
Who do you sit and laugh with, share stories with, talk about your day with, vent about your life with? For most of us gaming is far more than a hobby, it's a place to go and experience a different sort of life, and EvE offers so much freedom that you can and more often than not, do, invest a lot of time and effort and, more importantly, invest a lot of /yourself/ here.
I've a member who lives in New Zealand, just got a new job so can only play in the wee hours of the morning (my time anyway.) Unfortunately current make-up of the corp isn't quite the same so he's spent more than a few nights on by himself.
I stayed up till 5AM (my time) just to chat with him. Exhausted beyond belief I spent 4m on the wrong type of missiles just because I was laughing so hard chatting with him.
And that didn't bother me. Heck it was fun, and I'd do it more if my fiance didn't complain when I stay up quite that late.
To me that's what the game is about...the bonds of friendship.
It's the people that you turn to when you need them, the ones you can depend on and the ones you have no qualms about helping. ---- -Founder- |

To me that's what's important in this game. The bonds of trust and friendship that are born.
So...how many hours are you going to spend in Eve?
This is me, this post, who I am.
While, obviously, it's lacking the more "instant" style of communication that comes from chatting real time, it does, hopefully, give you some sense of what sort of person I am. What sort of things I think about and, more importantly, the type of things that are important to me.
A sense of humor and a willingness to stand by your friends...
Empire of Destiny is recruiting.

Eithan Cole here. I would like to address the allegations of my being from New Zealand and that I made Jarem laugh.
First and foremost, I resent the heavily concealed and barely noticed implication that was made hinting that I play with myself... I mean, BY myself, during the wee hours of the morning and that I wear make-up. It wasn't my fault. I slipped in the bathroom and happened to land in foundation and mascara. I wiped it off as soon as practical with the pink panties I was wearing at the time.
As for New Zealand. I don't know what you may have heard, but I assure you that we DO NOT use the 80 million sheep for our own sexual gratification. None whatsoever. It's for the sheep, they seem to like it.
As for the alleged laughing incident that has been construed within this post, I refer you to the following chat;
Eithan Cole >> Hey Jarem >> Hey Eithan Cole >> Hey Jarem >> Hey Eithan Cole >> Hey Jarem >> lol
This was not intended to 'make Jarem laugh' as has been so maliciously accused. I have a stutter and was greatly offended by the comments made by my CEO and the fact the he found my debilitating condition humorous.
In all seriousness, IĈm bumping this post to add my support for Jarem and Empire of Destiny. I believe in its goals and ideals, and I would urge anyone to take the time to chat to Jarem to find out what we're about. Unfortunately you'll find that Jarem is a bit simple in the head and that the real brains behind the outfit is ....

I like how he says "allegations." As if he doesn't really live there.
Anyway - just dropping by to bump this up to the top once more and let everyone know that I'm still happy to talk to anyone who would like some more information. Drop me a line in game or leave a message here.
And thanks for that bump mate.

Okay..... I'm begging you. PLEASE make our esteemed leader a happier man than he has been the last few days by replying to this pathetic call for new members. He's been horrible to live with as he's constantly in a bad mood - I'd say go find yourself a sheep but I fear that may result in another outburst of profanities and misconstrued allegations.
If not for Jarem, then for me. I need players who fly something other than odd looking green blobs who's owners are so blind they can't see how disgustingly ugly they are.
Easy.

I better bump this to atone for the irrevocable harm done to our corps good name when our CEO accidentally posted videos of ***censored*** on the recruitment channel in-game.
We've discussed appropriate venues for the display of videos depicting ***censored*** so hopefully this unfortunate occurance won't happen again. And yes, it was real. And no, we won't pay your dry cleaning bill.

For the posting of that particular video I apologize to all involved and do not hold myself responsible for any and all mental anguish which resulted from its unveiling.
...as to the whole Shatner thing...anyone else, when they watch Star Trek, try to figure out what ship classes they'd be in the Eve-universe?

Great string of posts guys. Had me laughing and the wife wondering if I had lost what little mind I had left.
While the video answered many sanity questions I had, and my life long question about the sheep liking it was finally put to rest. I still have to ask what sp level would you consider?

I won't go so far as to say "any" per-say.
However, on a case by case basis, I'll say I'd accept "just about" any SP amount.
Bluntly - if you're no longer on the trial and have a modicum of intelligence, a willingness to learn and, perhaps more importantly, you fit in with my motley little group - more than likely you'll be welcomed in.
Fair enough?

What Jarem means by the phrase "modicum of intelligence", is that he's looking for people smarter than he is. As I said earlier, the real brains behind this outfit is <bleep>, because as the rest of us know ..... what the..? <bleep> damm it! Stupid <bleep>ing censor! Can't someone turn that <bleep>ing thing off? It's seriously starting to <bleep> me off.
Guess you'll have to join up to find out then eh?
BTW Jarem, Star Trek isn't real. It's a TV show. They don't really make spaceships that small...... get back to reality and buy me that Dread I want!

Hey Jarem, Just a few questions.
Are the any min or max standards in a way of Game time, Skillpoints, experience.
put it this way, Do you have any use of an Minmatar pilot that mainly fly's caldari ships with roughly 4mill sp avarge online time and about 5 months experience.
Sorry if these questions where allready answered alsewhere, but my lack of brain made me unable to store that kind of information while reading through your large but interesting post.
cheers,
Bobby.
p.s. This post is a short verion of its original, for some ****** reason i couldnt post my first one

Heyla Bobby.
Here's the deal, as I said earlier in regards to another comment, I'm less concerned with how much "skill" you have, how much time you've spent playing, how many SP you have or ISK or what ships or whatever.
Because, honestly, everything can be learned over time. Given enough time you'll learn this or that and make this or that or whatever. It's the nature of the beast.
What I'm concerned about is the nature of the player. If you fit in with our group. If you have a sense of humor, as you can tell we all have, and a willingness to learn and stick with us and, above all else, a sense of loyalty to our growing family, then there's a place for you.
It's that simple.
Experience can be gained with time, it's the character of the player, the character of the person itself, that's important.
Eithan: I got your Dread alright...

To finish the quote:
"Conan! What is best in life?"
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and here the lamentation of the women."
Heh, gotta love the governator.

Indeed, join the Empire of Destiny we are the proud associates of; as our illustrious or perhaps insane leader puts it; a "Fat and Happy miner". If you're new (or old), it's cool don't be shy drop myself a line and we'll get you into the fold, we're all new once and to be honest I suck something awful. Don't let the boss scare you, none of us will bite, main or harm you in any way. Like he said anyone who's willing to learn, have fun and add to our high level of intellectual chatter is very welcome amongst our ranks. Sociable!!!

You mean "per se". "per say" is an urban myth, that was born out of the inability of americans and aussies to remotely say or type anything that resembles latin.
Basically, when a redneck or NYker try to say "per se", "pear say" comes out instead.
Anyway, i just want to give you a free bump for the attempt.

I didn't even know that per was a word. And per se sounds too much like purse to me. But u this goes, join the few, the irreverent, and the unjustifiably proud. Join the empire of destiny!

Another bump with an FYI of what we're looking for....
Sales , production and mineral generation. Remember that mining isn't the only way to build a stockpile. We need a dependable amount of raw materials coming in to keep production steady. We have a capitalist bent; as a corporation meaning we buy your minerals off of you at *very* competitive prices. As the boss said you don't need X skill points, just a willingness to learn and help out.
We're based in scenic Ommare, just a short 6 jumps out of the hustle and bustle of Ours and only a few hops from wild and unpredictable low security space. It's near the city but it feels like the country. Feel free to join the channel [ E-O-D Public ] to see if we fit your lifestyle. Cheers, Quincy Tawharr Fate, Chance and Destiny; they're all just ways of claiming your successes and dismissing your failures. |
