Just add more agents of the same qualities and spread them around, I don't understand why this hasn't been done already. If you give people more choices, they'll probably end up spreading out enough to drop the lag a ton. Moving the same agent from one spot to the next isn't fixing this issue.

The lag can be quite annoying, but the solution is not just
"go to 0.0 and pirate" or "mission somewhere quiet"
as you would just get a yo-yo effect as the system clears up and other people come in to fill it.
Also people should be able to do what they choose to in eve and if that means lag free missioning then so be it
Like others have already said, moving agents doesn't really make a difference and introducing new similar quality agents may mean less people start missioning with agents like Toras Egassuo, but you will still have the issue with the players (like myself) already established with the agents in the laggy systems who dont want to move due to standing and LP (and the effort of moving loads of ships, which players shouldn't have to do to resolve server lag issues)
Could CCP work with the players to create some new agents in different systems and fully migrate players to new agents, hangers, LP etc etc?
personally i'm off to 0.0 cos its too scary trying to mission run in a laggy system full of Privateers

Ther certainly are some good ideas in here (lets hope ccp actually take these on-board), however this post is about the problem not the solution so..
MOTSU IS NOT PLAYABLE WHEN 200 PEOPLE ARE IN LOCAL, ALL RUNNING MISSION FOR THE SAME AGENT
Say what you want ccp are aware of this, more over they're aware that each months they take money from myself and others for (here at least) an unusable service at peak times. So why pay? It's a server issue yet nothing is being done, where are the fees going?

I Moved like 17 Fracking Times, on avg 10 people in local in the system I decide to move to. within a month or two the system floods, and its unplayable able. I've played my hand a pirating, but sorry blob warfare doesnt do it for me. its either I have more ships and we omfgwtfbbq I pwned you... or you have twice the ships and you omfgwtfbbq you pwned me. Most the time I'm running solo, so missioning is my thing, I can blow things up, make some isk and not worry if i'm by myself or if you have 50 people in your blob to jump my lone vulture. when i pvp i do it on my terms, if i dont want to risk my ship i dont pvp, when i feel like risking it, i have fun win or loose. There is nothing fun however to loosing a ship to PvE in a mission due to module lag over 2 mins (have Screenshots & Fraps to prove it) for me, i've always got the ship replaced in minutes, and every single time i've got my ship and mods back (2 months later on avg) but for a newer player thats a major loss of income to loose a battleship and not be able to run a level 4 or even a level 3 due to the lag, or not having the ship untill its replaced. and Point in fact it would take next to nothing to add more agents to the game. and for the 0.0 addicts that think moving to 0.0 is the solve all, CCP has been trying to force players into 0.0 since castor, and point blank, few want the BS & Drama involoved in 0.0, and the reward isnt worth the risk. this is why empire stays packed. and pretty much the same old names control the same old space in 0.0, Alliance names may chance, and even a few of the corp names happon to change, but those of us that have flown 0.0 know for a fact its the same ole names in local

Heck I just lost 2 ships in a lvl 3 mission in a sec lvl 6 system that only had 31 people in it. I warped in went to a line up for a jump and could not move, the next thing I know I was in a pod, I could move then.

they said in a blog that they will move around agents as part of the need for speed initiative.
why do you all run missions for caldari navy or whatever is clustered in motsu? there's plenty of other lvl4 q18 agents in high sec from other caldari npc corps with more lvl4 agents close. i'm not getting bad lag and i usually run lvl4s in a smaller mission hub. not atm tho as we have war decs on. --

I kinda undertand what you mean but if you know somewhere is going to be messy or laggy etc, your taking a chance when you could move or whatever, at least until they do something. I used to do mission's a long time ago before i moved into 0.0 and it was cool, the population steadily increased though and it got filled up with farmer's and mission runner's and basically became an environment i din't want to be near so i moved.
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but for example, you could leave your uber kit in empire and get a clone into stain or curse etc and run mission's there. The reward'sare far better and is also a welcome change of pace. The lag get's too bad where you are, jc to another spot and do it there. Less frustration and also keep's it abit more fresh, plus you meet different people and would make new frinds etc.
You'll find that there is an element of risk but if your careful you will be fine. Other mission runner's there will leave you alone and if you get hassled or whatever, hop to another clone. Jc technology has made it so we can move about the universe in an instant, use it

Before you continue to request it to be fixed you should really read the dev blogs.
The majority of people causing the lag are high end mission runners and the npcs of their missions (I know this to be true as I enjoy the convosation in local whilst doing my missions).
Most people will use the best agent they can.... new agents are coming in low sec. Missions are being altered to have fewer npcs in them (but they will be harder npcs to compensate).
So as soon as this is implimented the lag issue will be resolved in areas like Motsu. Jita will still be an issue as its a trade/route hub. The only possible solution I can think of for these trade hubs is to reduce the stations in them, remove the agents and the astroid belts. This would remove the missioners and miners leaving the system as what the majority use it for.
But as this thread is concerning missioning in Caldari state space and the solution has already been posted by the devs I feel that this thread can be closed.

Even if you run all the client optimizations that are suggested here, and believe me I have em; Motsu as of right now is totally unplayable. Lost a Raven fully T2 kitted to the monster. No use in petitioning it as usual as officially GM's can't do nothing about it since "... we cannot reimburse for a lag related issue ...".
CCP needs to do something more concrete than just court us with the SOP "We are on it" PR message. Guys you been on it since -03. The last 6 months is going steadily from bad to worse.
I know this is a business for you, but things are at that stage where I really am considering leaving the game. And the buzz on the TS intune with my thoughts. It is that serious.
I duly understand that EVE is a hardcore PVP game, but not everyone likes the 0.0 blob wunderland. 3h of rolling your thumbs up somewhere moist and where the eternal darkness prevails: just for 15mins of uber action. Sorry, I want more for the 3h guys. Thus I PVE. Yes it holds no candle to a sweet PVP-op, but least it's there when I have time to play.
Sorry for the ****ed off whine, but honestly I am! And seems like I'm not alone.

Coz most high sec (with decent agents) mission systems in eve suffer from the same exact phenomenon.
And plz fire, don't suggest moving 0.0 nor low-sec. Just ain't gona happen for the obvious reasons. We are not idiots.

Running missions in Lowsec ? No thx, losing 0.5b worth ship twice a week because pirates are insta camping those mission runners system is not solution. Lowsec in curent state is out of question for now as long as it dont get fixed some serious fixes. (Sentry guns atacking player who want to defent itself as well sec hit if he kill agresor and many more things need to be fixed). Yes make more high quality agents, but not only in lowsec, i sugested that many times. As for Caldari Navy, they have most L1-3 agents from all caldari Corps I tryed and if you already have 9+ standing and 100k+ LP you dont want to move so easily. I now trying get standing with other Corp witch have trading and R&D agents, but I dont want to go thru all that L1->L4 missions every few weeks. Also CN having most of agents around my corp Main Base and having qite some stations with 50% refining is another reason.

Only lvl4 agent for Caldari Navy i can find is in Salia, or close by Motsu :x But the lag is to bad there, it took about 5mins even to undock/dock and modules takes ages to get activated, thus i left my raven in Salia, stepped in a Jumpclone and headed to lowsec, hoping one day the lag gets so, that i can at least undock my raven and have it fly to lowsec...
I'm a PvP player, allthough a fresh one, cant live from pvp yet solely, so i need to do the occasional mission running, and dont wanted to use my expensive raven yet in lowsec..(soz, not that rich yet i can throw one away)..
For me personally it aint a too much of a deal, but it would be great if i could now and then be able to use that agent again.
(Sidenote) Caldari Navy, and War Tribunal seems to be small NPC corpsen with very limited lvl4 agents, since most Cald players start with one of those, alot of players stick to them, making those few agents of this corp, beeing massively used.. Maybe a few more high lvl agents spread out over Highsec (It seems Navy and Tribunal are HighSec only) maybe will help a bit..
But then, thats allready part of the speed iniative, so best is to stick it out, and get standings with a other corp, so your not restricted to a single agent.. (i know it sucks, its much more extra work)

i run missions out of motsu. i use that agent for the same reason as everyone else. although i get the occasional bit of lag i've never found it stops me from playing the game. sometimes, like today when it has been really bad, i get module lag of 10-15 seconds but never more than that, also a 5 second delay when changing ships and such. sometimes when undocking in motsu or jita i get a 10 second blackscreen. once everyfew days it doesnt recover from the blackscreen and i have to reboot the client. [sucks when there's war targets waiting outside]
I have gone to alot of effort to tweak my client so it performs as best as possible. i have increased buffer size and memory usage, but at the same time enabled multisampling which has lowered framerate. i run off a fairly crappy cable connection in new zealand, so a long way from the servers.
I guess what i'm trying to say is yes, ccp have work to do on fixing things on their end but it's not entirely their fault, there is alot people can do to reduce lag at their own end. in motsu and jita it used to be a constant slide show for me but now runs relatively smoothly. i almost never find the lag unbearable.
i understand that alot of people probably have taken steps to do what they can on their end and are still having problems. i'm just sharing my experience.
*waits for "CALDARI HARDCORE PLAYERS" and other's who told me to get F*ed in local today to rip my post to bits*

HEAR HEAR!!!
I haven't read all the posts, but I'd like to say you're not all the only ones neither am I. Lag is evident in Essence, The Citadel, Lonetrek.
The market is a farce you can't even sell your stash to make ANY money whatsoever unless you're directly selling which is kinda pointless because I tend to want to sell right away.
I don't know much about the game, I'm new but I'm not new to MMOs and one thing I dislike about MMOs that I have played is they keep taking things that are "uber" and dulling it out making it NO fun like the recent nano is now nerfed... I have little knowledge about it but why?
I read some info about the patch and ccp seems to think that they have a good excuse for loading up a buggy patch because the playerbase on singularity is small... well you know what... TOO BAD if you can't find the holes DON'T BRING it to the live side until you can FIX IT 100% IN TEST FIRST I would NEVER EVER do that whether its for gaming or as a real tangible product I always do tests myself or with people who do not pay for it or those who do not depend on it.
I may have only paid for my first month... but I am getting a very bad taste of EVE with all its bugs... the first week I came we had wallet issues and now this? Shoulda stayed with jumpgate with crappy graphics and excellent server speeds small community etc etc :)
I know ccp can do better than this... look at blizzard, they have just as many players if not more or less. I don't know who else to compare ccp to because the other MMOs are not the same. And actually blizzard and CCP can't be compared because blizzard uses too many servers.
Anyway... it seemed to me EVE worked fine all day yesterday and I couldn't play because I was on detail obligations yesterday and now I come to play this morning to only get disconnected 4 times in a row during login to only find out the server goes down then I finally get on to see players in an uproar about the market.
If I have to put up with this until Friday you know what that means? One less player to lag this fubar system!

The problem here is that if you are a good 'clicker', good gamer, and train it wisely, in couple months youll be runing lvl 4 agent missions and trust me, if you are a caldari playing caldari you will get screwed down in yer dark button.
You will *NOT* be able to play properly. You will *NOT* be able to have fun at all.
So whats the point?

I, for one, wouldn't trust CCP on any agent move...
Early in the beginning of my carrier, i was bored by the lag in the places where i was doing missions(core of Caldari State) and i searched a place where i(and my brother and friend i'm playing with) could settle and not being harassed by lag or too much players.
We found a constellation with one very good qual lvl 2 combat agent(yes we were doing lvl 2 at this time), one very good lvl 3, and 2 poor lvl 4 agents, one from the same corp, one from another one.
This corp is Cal Nav. At that time we were more oriented Spacelane Patrol, but we worked our standings to have access to them, and started missioning there, in our own quiet piece of space(we were never more than 40 in local so great nearly no lag and so on).
Then, come the time when CCP finally realized that the Caldari Core was blobbed, specially because of the agent density, and the multiple high qual and high level fight and courrier agents near starting systems, so they decided to move agents...
With their "oh so great" intelligence and cleverness, they choose to add TWO(yes TWO) lvl 3 qual 0 and 15 fight level agent RIGHT in the same station in the system i was missioning(if you read me, you know there was already one of this kind of agent here).
The two agents were coming from two of the more crowded systems at that time.... And it was not enough, they put two lvl 3 courrier agents there(high qual too, coming from crowded systemes too) and two lvl 4 courier agents at one jump.
So we jumped from 30/40 people in local to 100/150 then 200/250 at all times. :( Nearly all the old mission runners there petitionned it(it was obious it would not solve anything, juste ruin the experience from those that had CHOSEN to came here before) to have the new agents reloacated, and at least spreaded around different systems.
Nothing was done, and now it's nearly as laggy as Motsu.
It's hard to have so much agents in Caldari State and seeing that most of them end ups in the same systems or really close one to another.
I know a LOT of systems near my base of operation with one or two agent lvl 3/4 in them, not nearly 10 now in my system, it would have been better with agents spreaded everywhgere, it would have ease the charge on the nodes, made people to spread over space and change the market, and would'nt have made all people(combat mission runners, courier mission runners, producers, miners, trades and so on) all come in the same system.
The same was done to Motsu.
Right now i'm ****** and i know it. I'll work to Cal faction 7.0 to have access to all lvl 4 agents and run them to have enough standing for each corp, but then i'm out of here, going into Minmatar or Amarr space.:D
Oh and there is A LOT of reasons for the multiple caldaris, one of them is that it's ALWAYS and for years the first race. When you stay on beginner channel and you ask why they choose caldari, 3 times on 4 it's because they picked up "the first without reading". The other big winner is Gallente, cause "the chick on the picture looks hot". To reduce lag it's simple : - make a random for race order in creation screen(with caldari as last for at least 6 months) - move agents to spread them all over systems and not all in the same ones - seed as much stations and agents for gallente/amarr/minmatar as Caldari(and not cal agents= gallente+amarr+minmatar agents). With that lag will be greatly reduced and population spread all over empire which would ease the task on the nodes and would allow to divert more power on other nodes when needed, and would lessen the importance of systems like jita. I guess that CCP doesn't want it since it has been suggered in petitions at least a dozen times by mission runners in my system, and i think there was a thread on this nearly one year ago...:( (Oh and moving to low sec/00 is NO solutions to lag making mission running in high sec impossible....It's something you can choose to do but it's no solution.. :() ------------------------------------------------

Instead of moaning how the game won't bend to yourd emand's, how about adapting a little (shock horror ) and moving to a better system/less people/new area/whatever. Or you could even join a 0.0 corp (onoes) and do the mission's there which are far better and have pretty much zero lag.
Bottom line is don't whine about the problem if your'e unwilling to help with the solution
I changed my agent 4 times, all of them became more laggy after some time. Yes most of us changed everything possible to reduce lags, but we cant do anything with server side latency. Why would someon new or someon with industrial alt go to 0.0, not mentioning geting standing with some corporations, not mentioning training with expensive implants ? And or flying faction ship with faction fiting.

Oh and one last thing when i still have it in mind, it would be nice of all those low sec pirates and 00 npc *****s who suggest that we should move to low sec/00 to remember their beginning, when as nearly everybody, they started their living on mission running and made their first hundred milions on it.
Not everybody can play frequently and long enough to join a 00 corp/alliance(i could have done it a long time ago to join friends but one of my main problem is rl life issues that makes that i can play 10h a day during hollidays but could be unable to play more than 30min a day for weeks/months, and most of the time it's inaceptable for a 00 corp/alliance and will get me booted[at least the interessting ones] and it's not really viable in low sec/00 like that, unless you are playuing 2+ account at the same time, to have scout/tacler and co for pvp...Not everybody is.)
Oh and realize that a strong part of high end mission runners are 00 denizens alt account to gain money easily and fast when they are at war or broken due to pvp..
Everybody needs missions to be fixed, not only missions *****s like us( :D ) but pvpers and co. Oh and most of all, the little things called "faction/officers modules" that you are dropping in 0.0 are mostly sold in Empire to mission runners(and it's hardes and hardest cause implants and faction ships that are mission runners income are badly nerfed for some time and sell to 1/3 of their value...:/) and the day where there is no more high sec mission runners, or they can't have a real income on it you'll stop to sell them, and hence is far less richer. The same way for minerals... Even if they are used a lot in 00 economy(cap ships constructions and co), sometimes in pvp, empire is one HUGE part of your income... Think about it before making comments. ------------------------------------------------
