Hey, I'm a new player and I decided to go straight into faction warfare. It seems to be the most profitable and sure, I do die a lot but the risk is well worth the reward.
One flaw I do see in this is the reward system for capturing outposts. A novice outpost takes 10 minutes to capture and rewards x amount to the capturing pilot(s). I noticed that it doesn't matter how long you've been capturing an outpost, you will still gain a % of the amount once that counter hits 0. This means that any person can warp in at say 10 seconds remaining on the timer and still get a percentage of the full amount of LP reward. This type of behavior could be considered "ninja" and basically robs the other player that actually risked their ship for 9 minutes and 50 seconds capturing the point.
My question is, why isn't there a better reward system installed? Why not there be a reward system that rewards players based on how long they actually helped capture the point? If player A captured the point for 9 minutes and player B captured for 1 minute, wouldn't it be fair and logical that player A receives 90% of the LP reward?
And it's not just about the reward.. I've been yelled at a couple of times by other players telling me to leave a point because they feel that they have a right to it or simply don't want to share the reward. I can understand this especially when they spent more than 60% of the time capturing the point, but as a new player, I'd preferably like to stay and help capture the point being that I'm not very skilled and powerful compared to other players. So wouldn't a change that rewards players based on actually cap time promote more team play and a better reward system? |

If there's one word that is commonly used to describe Eve Online, it's "fair". Yup.

Tell them that CODE. has recently branched out to taxing plex farmers and you're there to collect.
Seriously, it is really hard to get too worked up over whether or not some guy who spent a few minutes orbiting a beacon while watching Netflix was properly compensated for his efforts.

I mean I've been playing in Faction Warfare for almost 3 years now. There are other, signifcantly more important things that they whould consider improving/changing this.
The issue you already described can be annoying but its nothing that can't be worked out between players in local or if diplomacy fails, then by killing him if it upsets you.
Sure you'll take some standings hit and a security status hit. But as long as you don't pod him, its nothing that you won't recover while you continue plexing. You'll also be making sure that him "ninja"ing your LP won't become a profitable endeavor after accounting for his ship losses.
The mechanic as it is also beneficial to fleets as you let everyone slide into the plex for a piece of the LP pie even if they were scouting or something else while the bulk of the timer was being run.
TLDR: This is something you can take care of on your own. Doesn't need CCP intervention or mechanics changes.

Your guns work on last minute arrivals sponging off of your hard work. You seem interested in 'fair play' so give them a warning to leave. If the don't - blast them to space dust. Same shoe other foot for you doing the ninja thing on someone else. If they warn your off you should either warp away or prepare to defend yourself.
Eve provides you with access to ships, guns and ammunition. It leaves the enforcement of your moral code in your hands.
Good luck, shoot straight and don't back down. |

Well, see, I didn't know I could shoot them. I thought I would be kicked out of the militia... read that somewhere.. I just kinda felt helpless on what to do about the situation which led to my original post... |

It's Eve. Shooting them is pretty much always an option.

When you shoot them you take a standings hit. If your standings get too low you get kicked. But provided you get more standings gains than you do hits you should be fine.
Just make sure the rest of your militia understands why you fire on friendlies.
