Hi, I'm confused about turrets! I was under the impression that in order to fit a turret, you need an open Turret Hardpoint slot. Is this not the case?
For example, my Catalyst Destroyer has four Turret Hardpoints and eight high slots. That means I can fit four turrets, yes? When I click and drag a turret into a non-hardpoint it doesn't work. But I see all kinds of posts about people putting more than four guns on a Catalyst. Do you need a super secret skill to accomplish this?
Not sure what I'm mission.

I belive the catalyst has 8 high slots and 8 Turret.
If you have moduels equiped, show info on that ship reflects this. for example if you have 4 turrets mounted, it would only show 4 high slots available.

You're correct in your belief that you need an open turret hard point to put a gun in it. Same with needing an open missile hard point to put a launcher in.
Where you're going wrong is that the Catalyst has 8 turret hard points, not four.

The Catalyst has eight turret hardpoints, not four... Perhaps you have four turrets already equipped?
Hardpoints automatically get used when you put a weapon into a high slot. Each module can only go into one of the three slot types (high, mid, low), and weapons all go into high slots.
Perhaps you are short on CPU or powergrid? I doubt it, since it tells you when that is the case.

Edited by: Imaldris on 06/02/2007 14:09:43 If you can't equip more than 4 guns it's probably because you're running out of cpu or powergrid.
Skills you develop to add to cpu and powergrid are electronics and engineering, you probably need to up those some.
You can buy doohickys that add to ship cpu and powergrid too.
edit: Some gunery skills lower ship resource requirements as well. Controlled burst is one that I can think of off the top of my head.

Controlled bursts lowers capacitor usage when you're actually firing the guns, and has nothing to do with fitting problems. Weapon Upgrades lowers the CPU that a gun requires, and Advanced Weapon Upgrades lowers the PG.

Thanks, I knew there was one but I couldn't recall which one. Sooo many skills.
