Currently, to repair your drones you have to remote rep them or dock up and repair. I'd like to advocate being able to use nanite paste to repair them while you're out and about in space.
Just how you rclick a module and select repair, We should be able to rclick a docked wing and select repair. The appropriate paste would then be used to repair the drones while they're in the drones bay.
During this time they cannot be launched. If you need them before they're ready, rclick the wing, stop repair and then you can use them. Just like modules.
I see this as a qol improvement. Especially for people in wormholes, roaming about, or anybody without a convinent accessible station.

It would be a different take on drone repair. In general I like the idea and think it would make life easier for drone users.
My concern would be with the balance in combat when an opponent is actively trying to destroy drones and they keep getting pulled, repaired, and redeployed. There are a lot of different scenarios where this would be less of an issue and others where it would be a bigger deal. It would take careful balancing to keep the amount and rate of repair from being too strong of an addition while in combat.
As a repair option, when there is no weapons timer, I see it as a nice QOL idea, and would be 100% behind it. |

In larger battles you might run into people pulling drones and repairing but given how long it can take to repair modules and if it's similar when repairing drones it probably wouldn't be common or even feasible for some. That said I think there would still be a large enough group who could make use of this for some decent fights. |

Sure, good idea.
CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

That might be the case but it would also remove an isk sink at a smaller scale. Think about it while the victors gets away with a few damaged drones she / he will either remote rep them or pay a station a fee to do it for you.
And everything you pay a station for is a good thing.

This has been posted before - somewhere.
But still not a bad idea.

If they require repair paste or could use repair paste to be fixed, you increase the demand for it - which increases the cost. So someone somewhere is getting ISK. Might be a null sec station owner, or an NPC there is still ISK involved in the repair action. Unless remote repaired - but that is a different topic.

I didn't say that it would be bad but I was considering the increased demand for ancillery capital reps already.

As how turrets and launchers can be repaired with nanites, I don't see why drones shouldn't have that ability as it is the main weapon group of many ships in the game.

I like the idea however the devil's advocate side of me wonders Guns and missiles run out of ammo and lasers have cap issues and yet with this option drones could at least in theory be a never ending supply of damage out put. Bring them in one at a time to repair and you still have others out doing damage and I wonder if this may not bring even more balance issues to drones. |

Assuming a repair time like module repair, in a solo pvp fight it would be over before it mattered in most cases. For fleet battles, if drones are being primaries it is unlikely enough would make it back for the repair to matter. Especially with the death of slowcats/pantheon.
However, to simplify things, just make it not let you repair if you have BOTH a weapon timer and combat with capsuleer flag. If that is too much of a buff to drone boats then it can be made to lock out if you have a pvp flag.

The only thing I fear with this is an ishtar that pulls in the 1 drone that was being shot, repairs that one and deploys another drone. The balance to this would be any drone that you are repairing takes up the same bandwidth as it would take to launch it. So if you want to repair a drone, you would drop down to 4 active drones in your ishtar. That way you simply cannot cycle through them with a never ending supply.
Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012.

That definitely makes sense, same effect (more or less) as oflining a gun. Just make sure that it doesn't prevent them from putting 5 drones in space still (they just have to replace one with a smaller drone) |

I think drones are quite balanced at the time. so in order to keep it this way, I think that you should not be able to repair drones and have other drones fighting at the same time.
This way the only impact is in between fights, you will be able to repair your survivor drones but you will no be able to rotate your squads while repairing it. |

Sounds great. Extend the repair time of drones to prevent exploits mentioned above and everything is golden. Certainly no fighting drones and repairing the spares at the same time. Turret users can't do that, so it would create an unfair advantage.
