But to others who seem to think otherwise:
Dunno, but how's this different from attacking a random noob corp Crane transport that then proceeds to ***** open a Cyno field dropping a Nyx on top of you? There's a thread over in Crime and Punishment of exactly that happening.
Aurora may have a few advantages in terms of skills and fittings, but there's actually some folks out there who could do similar stuff without that advantage AND without appearing on local first.
Miners that don't watch local can get ganked, and so do gate campers.

As a small fish, all i think of when reading this thread is "LOL!!" why? Its good to see that there are bigger fish out there that will put some fear into the pack of pirahnas that camp gates.
Sure there are other groups of players that might go bust up a gate camp but from what it sounds like, they had no chance. Which we all know camps are meant to give those jumping in.

Who got something out of the event?? well the guys RP'ing the Mordus' seemed to have fun, and by extension, we all are able to enjoy it through the Modern Magic of Forum Whining GateCampers, who seem to think they are hard done by when someone shows up, fitted in the only way that isn't immune to their tactics. i'd like to hand out a hug here, but it would be a bearhug to the Mordus guys, who'd probably flex one of those well-formed Merc arms and send me flying, so I won't bother.

So let me get this straight.
A once in a blue-moon RP event happens, 6 characters enter your system. You don't interact with them, you don't say anything in local.
One of them warps to you and you shoot him, then the rest warp in and wtfpwn you.
Just reinforces the stereotype of gatecamping NBSI morons "duh it no blue, kill it....duh...uh oh...."
IMO there should be more roving RP gangs raping gatecamps.

Edited by: Topaz Skydiver on 08/02/2007 16:24:52 So shooting on non-blues blindly comes at a risk. Sounds fair to me.
If they had just jumped into you, attacked and wtf-pwned you all with an uber fleet, then I'd say it would unfair. But this was fair-game. You chose to attack and ask questions later, which was obviously a mistake in this case and you got owned. The environment doesn't have to adapt to players' strategies, tactics, policies, it's the other way around.
*edit* If they fly around in a small gang they are usually on some kind of roleplay mission. I remember that in curse, when some friends pinned down an aurora machariel, but didn't destroy it afaik and what followed was some rp coversation. The aurora agents were on a mission to get some contacts to the locals for an upcoming event.

A four man team of angel pilots, flying a machariel and three heavy assault cruisers where spotted in the constellation of sound yesterday, they were destroyed within the half hour.
Is this the beginning of more of these kind of events, or the beginning of an event arc perhaps?
Edit: best spawned items? Lucky, the Angel pilots we destroyed where only using t2/best named.

Why would you ever complain? Even if I got owned I would be soooo damn happy to be in an event. This is definatelly a good thing, and we need more of this. Makes game more interactive and suprising, and you know that guys behind the game are actually doing something. Why not type in alliance or corp, we have roleplayers here, come and kill them. Loot will be nice. I bet you would get 100 people really fast.

As for "more skilled players", I want to see a CNR setup that lets you move at 10km/s and tank and do damage at the sametime.

You dont get it. BoB would - by chance - have 6 Hugins and 10 Astarte in the area. They would tripple-web and kill them, then proceed to sell the 18 Estamel Invulnerability fields that the CNRs had fitted for 10b each. The Event wasnt for you ... wrong time, wrong place so to say.

Afaik event chars dont get additional powers, only neat setups and ships.
The only way they would have been going 10km/s is if their setup made them. If that's not possibel then they didn't go 10km/s

Originally by: Josh Causto Ok so today our alliance was camping a 0.0 entry system. All of a sudden, 6 Navy Ravens show up and start to attack us. They were from Mordu's Legion, a GM roleplay corp. Now im not complaining, just wondering, are they allowed to just go around killing things whenever they want? 6 Navy Ravens is nearly imposible to kill especially when you are in a small gang and when they are using the best spawned fittings and the best implants. I would like to hear everyones opinion about this. This just seems a little unfair to people that pay for this game and then get wtfpwnd by GM's.
Are they allowed to around killing things whenever they want?
No. And they don't wftpwn everything when they feel like. They are not players who run into gatecamps, get crushed, and then pop on their AURORA alts to get revenge. Although itÆs possible there is a bit of that.
What happened is they are following an event storyline arc. I take it you never read the Chronicles the CCP puts out, nor the GalNet news articles, or the IGS (Intergalactic Summit) forum which people discuss ingame events in an in-character format. MorduÆs is involved with Sisters of Eve lately and have provided mercenary protection to their convoys. A Mordu pilot was popped last week by Star Fraction during an event. A few days later a Sisters of Eve convoy went up to their base in another storyline event. The end result was a convoy of PCs helping the Sisters of Eve got blown up by BoB while engaging a Star Fraction pilot. So they keep getting attacked. Of course some events go by the way of
ôGreen text, letÆs blow it up!ö
or
ôEvent, lets ruin it, and get phat lewt!ö
NBSI, how about EPL (Event, PHAT LEWT?)
Some care less about the event and just want the loot. With their losses are you surprised by MorduÆs bringing excessive force next time they go about. Now this Navy Raven squad may have nothing to do with the SoE events but likely their was a repercussion from the escalation of previous events. Your fellow players brought this about by shooting first. If you followed the storyline you might know the underlying factors, or fancy some guesses. But you donÆt do that I bet. You operate NBSI. Or even worse, just shoot and ask questions later. You shot first, and were taken out by a bigger dog. It could have been BoB in similar kitted ships. Can you blame AURORA for using the same game mechanics of nano-ships as the rest of the player? No.
Thank you AURORA for your work even if I donÆt agree with some things.
I would like to see even more of these type of events. It shows fools for who they are and NBSI for what it is.
You could have avoided it by: -Not operating NBSI or by similar policy -Checked pilot info noticed corp -Checked pilot age! Most event actors will say they are in the corp for years. Watch out. YouÆre a noob compared to them. -Tried to reason with them -Known the events that lead up to it from the Intergalactic Summit forum

Originally by: Josh Causto Well thats just it, one of them warped in, didn't see the corp he was in, attacked him, and 5 more Navy Ravens warped in to attack. I also thought that Player Corps had to agree to the event.
By firing on the target you can say "yes we would like to play along". It all coming down to what you class as "agree", but that isnt the main problem or point this is:
Originally by: Jin Steele
when we tried to jump, it said that the gates were locked or something to that extent. When we tried to warp, the ship would align but not warp. as said above, they were going 10km/s. if a ******* story event is going to happen, it should at least be possible to win. i mean, a 10km/s nano navy raven is going a bit too far, isnt it?
Can someone plz link me where to where it saying that if you agree to an RP event you are locked into the system, cant RP event take place over many systems? also isn't leaving a fight you cant win also classed as RP? (and dont go on about the agro countdown they stop firing and waited long after that should have been able to jump out)
Also the fact they couldn't warp out when aligned. There where no messages saying "you cant warp as you are warp scrambled". I could understand if one or two people couldn't warp to some bug but the whole gang???

Again, people decide not to put together facts but rather would post the unintelligent and easy answer "It's a game, live with it".
All I was identifying is that not only are CCP employees are breaking their own rules, but now it appears the Aurora team no longer have to abide by the rules set out by Nebulai, that players and Aurora Team have to abide by. And the punishment that players get are temporary bans.
One rule for one, one for another. Again don't cut it for me,
BTW, just like to point out the Forces of Freedom / Triumvirate / IRON have lived in and around Pure Blind for over 3 years. I can only remember 3 such events in the area. A certain other alliance takes up residence in the area, and you get 2 in a week? Tin Foil hat or is there merit in all the accustations?

Just get rid of Aurora entirely. They have ****** up almost every arc they worked on and they are clearly biased to making events for BoB and friends. We had one event up north and that was when IRON/G POS's were under attack by Guristas Dreadnaughts in Tribute, Dreadnaughts piloted by Aurora that just happend to be members of the 5, allies of FE at the time. The north hasn't had a single meaningfull event in the last year(s) and now when DICE moves up north everything is surprisingly heating up again. DICE are paying for all their losses with the loot they get from killing Aurora 'actors' who are basicly their second accounts (or third, or fourth account, cause we all know you get a discount for more accounts when you're in a certain corp/alliance).
CCP, you've made a great game, a lot of people love it despite some of it flaws, but if there's one thing that can kill a game like this it's when people get unfair advantages cause they know/are GM's, ISD, AURORA, or even Devs. Even if the accusations aren't true, if enough people believes it's true that's more damage for EvE's reputation than it can take. There probably isn't a single bug or shiploss or whatever that could make me quit, but if smacktards like DICE can simply spawn faction loot/ships and get unlimited isk then the game is broken and not worth playing anymore.

Heh, you should read it as an inside joke about how rare items made it into the game ... Warp Core Stabs II were ingame long before BE won that legendary contest.
As for the topic. 1. I think everyone should stop this stupid anti-NBSI propaganda. Why couldnt they warp out? Scrambler? Dictor? Bubble? Magic? Why couldnt they just activate the gate?
Yes its funny that campers got killed by bigger fish. But were they using game mechanics or just cheatcodes? Dungeon Master : "You see a Dragon. You die." ...
2. is the 10km/s part made up? A Navy Raven going that fast... for general information: a Machariel can reach top speeds of about 14km/s with a dedicated setup including t2 rigs (an insanely rich collector assembled one on TQ recently...) ... and a Gist 100MN MWD.

Well, as I see it, they were gatecamping, so, to be honest, if they weren't paying attention, and as usual just locking and fireing on ships as is the normal for nearly 99% of gatecampers, they got what they richly deserved, I've been nailed in .4 by gatecampers several times and I've had been expressly outraged that the guns from .4 to 0.0 haven't been calibrated to be of strength to keep ships like 1 lone frigate from camping a .4 gate, I've always said, let the crime fit the punishment, gtecamp a .4, then make sure u can handle the damage from the guns and the price for failing to do so, ie, at least 1 tanked Dread., and so forth down to 0.1 where finally maybe 3 frigates*tanked* can hold a gate. BUT, no, CCP wants it the easy way.
So, I repeat again, they wanted to do the stupid thing, then, they got their reward for it. End of story, stop your whineing and get back to playing, and maybe it will teach you to think before you fire that shot.

BoB are celebrating their recent victory in the "investigations" of dev/gm/etc misconduct, so they logged their AURORA alts and went straight to where their enemies are, provoked fire knowing full well that you would be NBSI and used that to excuse spawning more faction ships to break up your camp.

I lost an Armageddon in the Bleak Lands event some time ago. We were in low-sec system, fighting Defiants.
I wasn't warp scrambled but somehow my ship was unable to warp, I just didn't have to option in right-click menu nor in the overview.
In retrospect, I probably could have saved my ship by logging out right when I noticed that the "warp to" option was missing from right-click menu and Overview.
