What's the rationale?
I am looking to start an alt account with a little money I've made on the side (man*****), but I was looking at game time cards and how much time $150 buys you.
Game time cards are $30 for 50 days.
$150 / $30 = 5 game time cards.
5 cards x 50 days per card = 250 days playtime.
Monthly fee of $14.95.
$150 / $14.95 ~= 10 months.
10 months x ~30 days = 300 days.
Extra 50 days for not buying GTC's. Is that intentional?
Anyway, you can also save money buying more time at once. I guess I'll probably do that - $130 buys you a full year if you pay up front.

Go to Shattered Crystal and get GTCs there. $38 for 90 days iirc. Making it about $152 for a year. More expensive than getting a whole year via cred card, but doesn't require you to commit yourself all in one go.

I do not know but at a guess I think it is that the merchants who sell GTCs want a piece of the money. So, CCP gets their $14.95/month and the extra goes to the merchants that sell the card (of course the financial arrangements might be different...just an example).

Oh, also, sorry 'bout the asteriks in the origional post, the censored word was a reference to the oldest profession being how I made my hawt lewts. |

Well for us Europeans GTC's are cheaper then a regular EvE sub, because CCP thinks one US dollar = one EURO... Whilst it's more like 70 EURO cent = one US dollar. I switched to paying with GTC and now have two accounts for around 3,33 EURO more then I would normally pay for one account.

GTC's are the best way for pro gamers to convert isk to $$$.
It is also the best way for people to hide their true identidy from CCP...Which is essential for disposable alt scum.
