In case anyone forgot.
I've come back after two+ years, and even then, the whole Jukebox dilemma had run its course. I have returned to the game, and was perplexed by how there hadn't been some other sort of music player in-game. We need another proper in-game music player with the ability to add custom tracks, just as we have before. I've played for hours now with the dynamic music option both on and off, and have yet to hear half the songs I heard when playing with the Jukebox around. There's simply no excuse for an outlying problem such as this, for this kind of timeframe. This issue needs to be resolved. And if someone actually thinks that an external music player is a solution. It isn't. It isn't in-game, and I could very well do that for just about every game I play. But that defeats the purpose of the game utilizing its own soundtrack. Games may as well have the soundtrack available separately so you may play it on an independent music player while playing the game. There is simply no excuse for this at this point. We were of course convinced that the Jukebox was broken. Codec problems, was it? It doesn't really matter, now. What matters is that an essential, supplementary component of the game's experience is completely missing. And now, you might think I am speaking as if there is no music whatsoever. But the dynamic music option only ever goes through three songs, that I've heard. I never get a chance to hear anything else. The so-called "dynamic" music option isn't quite... NOT dynamic. It is in fact, very static.

I also miss the jukebox, and although you said that using out-of-game music players isn't an option, just know that all those tracks you know and love can be found here: Soundcloud.
I'd personally like to see the dynamic music changed to include a much wider variety of tracks.

I have yet to hear "Doomed Forever" play during gameplay. It's sad that i have to play it externally to relive those awesome EVE moments. Such an epic track.

They added a button to override "dynamic" music and play back the whole soundtrack. Unfortunately it just plays it sequentially so you will hear the same songs in the same order each time and will take some 2 hours to listen the whole soundtrack with its classics. |

Workaround (clunky, but... :ccp:): If you hear a song you don't like, go to Esc - Sound Options - turn music volume to 0 - turn back to whatever it was beforehand. That cycles to the next song. |

The dynamic music feature does require you to actually... well, DO something before you hear different music. Such as travel to another area of space, or enter combat.
I don't find anything wrong with the concept at all, however they do need a wider variety of music available... perhaps those wonderful performances by the Icelandic symphony... or perhaps the option to include songs written by others about EVE (once properly vetted of course).

so you take a break,,,,,you return,,,,, first thing you do,,, to the forums,, whine! where the music player?
you're perplexed? really? all the amazing new features, ships and abilities and the juke box or lack of has you perplexed. sorry but lol really?
as much as the old juke box was handy,,, yes nothing but handy and as much as i liked it, it's removal has never impacted my game play.
how is using an external music player impacting your game play? honestly, no bs i'd like to try understand how something as silly as this changes the game so much for you while all the changes since you where away have not. |

I'd rather see the dev teams focus on real game mechanics than waste their time on an in-game music player. If you want to listen to music, use an out of game player. That IS the solution, and should always be the solution. A music player has nothing to do with the game. Could live without the in game browser too for that matter, but its already there, so meh. |

EVE has sound?
In all seriousness, most of us use external programs in the background. The Imperium even has its own radio channel which many of us tune into while grinding sov.

Yeah, i've kept that garbage on forever. It keeps playing the same songs. And i've figured out how to skip the songs a while ago. I think even the last time i was on. I can't believe it's been this long, and CCP being CCP, they just brush it aside like a group of Nonchalants, regardless of the fact that it may be a crucial part of the game experience. The Jukebox and all of its functions have been around since the beginning. And then it gets scrapped. Now we have a lame, broken music player. I've only heard about 8 different songs from the soundtrack. And i've used both music options. I've been patient. And there's still nothing. No progress. They can't make a goddam MUSIC PLAYER after 3+ years? WOW. |

I don't know if it's still a thing but Cabal back in the day had this. The novelty of the idea was cool but having to copy the music from wherever I originally had it and pasting it in the music directory, as well as converting to a different format, was more trouble than it was worth.
To add to this, the ingame jukebox didn't have all the functionality I've come to appreciate from dedicated music players. While you can bind Next, Previous, Play/Pause, and Stop to hotkeys, you'll never have the functionality of something like Winamp in the Eve Client.
All things considered, I'd take Winamp over the Eve Client any day. |

Ugh.. now that i look back at the title for this thread, i don't think it's giving off the right message. It's not about the fact that there's no music player. Rather, it's the fact that the way the music works now is ass-backwards to the point where you don't even hear 75% or more of the game's soundtrack. It's ridiculous. It's simply WRONG, and if you actually try to rationalize this in a positive way, you need a psychiatric evaluation. Because the soundtrack of a game is crucial to the experience. Or at least, it is depending on how articulate you really are, and how much you take in your entertainment. I don't imagine any dude-bro types giving a damn about the music in the game. And at the same time, i could conveniently add more tracks to the game if i really wanted to with the music player.
I don't even feel any frustration at all towards to devs at this point. I'm simply trying to figure out how in the hell something like this could be overlooked. The removal of the Jukebox occurred when? Over 3 years ago? And i get back with NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that BY NOW, they'd have come up with a solution. LOL!?

Yeah it's a shame CCP keeps changing or removing things that work perfectly fine while ignoring the things that actually need to be fixed or removed.
Even though I liked having the option to listen to the old Jukebox, most of the time I used an external music player and listened to Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien.
In my opinion it fit's great with Eve.

I agree! Winamp out of game works great and I'm even listening now as I type! I forget who the person was but they had I think pretty much all of the music from Eve on a page that I went to and downloaded all of the tracks and sometimes I'll hit play to listen to them.

I too miss the Jukebox, there is no control of the Eve-Online Original Soundtrack.
I keep hearing the first few tracks over and over again, end up muting and going to an external music player.
Music creates the vibe, even if we had a function to enable us to skip the next track to hear the tracks further down the OST playlist.
Old is now New again, this includes Eve's OST. It was part of Eve and I miss it. |

For real... The Tristan. Moves from a 2/2 turret/launcher split to an unbelievably ******** drone boat that is totally unbalanced and has just about no tier-equivalent counterpart from every other race's ships. Way to go on that one, CCP. Sansha ships. Inherently have cap problems due to both energy turret and shield tanking usage. Have AB bonuses which are nice, as well as tracking, but neither are potent enough. So i suppose Sansha ships aren't an example of CCP COMPLETELY crapping the bed. But yeah. A lot of mistakes. And a lot of major tweaking; which actually translates to breaking things. We'll see how long the bonuses on Sansha ships last until they swap them out for cap... NO.. MAINTENANCE DRONE bonuses. LOL.
And it's also a shame that there are a lot of mongoloids who actually defy logic. But i suppose that's how it's always going to be. There is both a culture among a player base and an anti-culture. The anti-culture in EVE seems to consist of no logic. Walking in stations? Yeah.... naaahh.. who needs that? When we can just have little character portraits that we've named, instead of actually being the character you "created" at the beginning of the game. Whenever a group among a player base forms, an anti-culture that brings nothing but negativity is formed. Nevermind that this game's huge, MAJOR main issue is its insane level of incompleteness. But you know, fondness for a company/game is totally alright and is a legitimate way of rationalizing making insanely idiotic statements. Fanboyism. It's a cancer to any game; and in the case of console gamers: an entire platform. As evidenced by the moron who posted on the previous page.
GOING BACK TO THE MUSIC PLAYER. Yeah. I even decided to do what i could for the time being, and tried downloading the EVE soundtrack off the CCP Soundcloud. And the tracks.. don't even have ID3 tags. Or any further information other than track name.

The soundtrack for Stain is creepy - especially that part that sounds like a ghost humping a tuba.
When I first got to Stain I was cloaked up somewhere and left the PC to take care of a few things and I swear for a moment I though a ghost was in the house. Scared the crap out of me (luckily I was in the right place for that).

all the feckers claiming they need an ingame music player because they needs to hear EVE music while they play when in fact the first thing we all did way back when we had the ingame player was to find where the files where stored what format they where in and then convert our fav songs and stick them in there to listen to when playing EVE. because after hearing the in game music for oh say a year it kinda starts to feel like nails being rammed into your ears hahahahaha, as much as i love the EVE music there's only so much of it you want to hear.
a bit like the chanting on the amarr NPC stations, lol i used to say, i swear if i ever meet one of them i'll super glue his feckin mouth shut hahahahaha.

Well, you see. Guaranteed, someone has already said this exact thing about engine trails as well. And then after approximately 10 years of putting their strongest creative minds together, CCP realized they could bring back engine trails as an OPTION. *GASP* I know, right?! So, the same thing would go for the dynamic music. Dynamic, not dynamic. Dynamic, not dynamic. I only believe in competence, and not making insanely idiotic decisions. Case and point; the music player. |
