I seem to be missing something in these calculations. in compareing a base drake to a battlecruiser lvl 4 drake all resistances should increase 20%. Now this deams true with EM resist.
0% at base 20% at lvl 4
but not the other resists
BASE LVL 4 EXP. 60% 68% THERMAL 20% 36% KENETIC 40% 66% w/Anti-Kenetic rig 1 a 30% bonus
I dont get the math. EM seems right if you add 20% At lvl 4 it should be EM 20 EXP. 80 THRM 40 KEN. 60
At 20% of resits it would be EM 0 EXP 72 THRM 24 KEN 48
If you could fix or explain your math it would be much apperciated.

the way resist works is u have 100% resist max so if you have 0% to start with u would take 20% of 100% if u have 60 resist u would take 20% of 40%. so you would do (.2)*40 which would =8 then u would add the 8% to the 60 u already have

As he said (I'm trying to put it into simpler terms) you're using the remainder of what is left after your first bonus for the percentage increase.
You start with 20% Thermal. So there's 80% missing. 20% of 80=16. This prevents you from getting resists much higher than 85% without wasting slots.

Perhaps the easiest way to explain it is that the 5% per level reduces the amount of damage you get hit by 5% per level.
With the ships basic 20% thermal, a normal 100 damage hit would already be reduced to 80. Then the 5% cuts that damage down by 5%, which at level 1 would be 76. 4 less than the 80, or 5% less damage. so a 20% thermal resist becomes a 24% thermal resist at level 1. At level 5 this thermal resist would be 40%, it reducing the normal 80 damage you take by 25%, down to 60.
Always the resists work on the remaining damage you would take. So at 80% basic, a 50% hardener should increase resists to 90%.

But do the skill levels all apply at once, or seperately? Would level 5 give you +25% to your base, or +5% +5% etc to your base?

... because bonuses are applied additively, not multiplicitavely.

What did you think would happen when you put on 2 50% hardeners, you'd be invulnerable?
