where have they gone, they were great to battle and good for lucrative salvage. Please have them attack again. |

Apparently they refused to work as intended, and were so broken that were removed until they can be fixed somehow.
As for what was broken exactly, your guess is as good as mine. I've seen systems incursioned both by Drifters and Sansha and not a soul in sight, which IMHO is a way to be broken... PvE is kinda silly when there's nobody to fight the environment, isn't it?
(And yes, dead Amarr Navy ships dropped juicy stuff, at one point I salvaged/looted 30+ million from a single "battlefield" and wouldn't mind doing it again) |

that's because in a PvP centric game, few are gonna be doing PvE stuff, more so that the whiney carebears i see in here in the forums are the most risk-averse mofo i've seen in my life.

I've seen plenty of risk averse pvpers who get plenty of kills.

I always thought it was a dumb idea to have NPCs with a super-weapon that is capable of one-shotting most ships. I mean risk is one thing but certain ship losses are another. Unless the rewards are far greater than sansha incursions nobody is going to be happy accepting guaranteed losses to earn isk.

It wasn't a certain loss, several groups regularly ran them, the drifter storyline was intended to move on.
Leaving them as they were would have resulted in Amarr space becoming even less popular, they already suffer from a lack of interest in Amarr ships on average (Notable exceptions exist yes), and being isolated on the far side of the gank choke points. No need to make it worse. |

Didn't know there was Pve content associated with them hovering the gate and scanning. |

Drifter incursions - weren't those the ultra risky PVE people were desperately grasping for?
I just don't get it.
I too want more involving PVE and I think the sleeper caches fit the bill but realistically there's very little to make PVE better because of two issues: if it gets too hard people won't run it, and , if it can be run with an arbitrarily large number of people without the risk of dying then people will either make those communities or not run them due to lack of interest.
Of course deleting highsec incursions is one great way of marginalising the ezpz money train but hey who really wants that?

Seekers drop blue loot now so you can get half that often even more just shooting them until borg drifter arrive that is.
Drifter inc never worked in eden space making them defacto sansha incursions with drifters inside i dont think anyone want or need copy paste PVE content.
Drifters need to be able to invade systems not spawn farmville sites in systems like Sansha.
So firstly they need more hull variety and ability to roam and harass anyone not taking em seriously.
Something like
Group one seekers 2 waves like now solo-able drops blue loot
Group two seekers + new advanced dps / lite evar hull soloable with extreme bling / 2 ppl, drop more(of same) loot than group one
Group three seekers new adv dps / lite ewar + new hull logistic drifter cant solo need up to 4 ppl drop drifter stuff.
Group four Borg drifter + rest of them full pvp gear scram web neuts props that follow game mechanic so no 250km scrams or dmg but 10-11 km scrams 14-15km webs heavy neuts on them this group roams like rest of them and it drops on ppl that farm first 3 groups.
fighting them for kill is suicide because borg drifter will zap you with his super weapon if damaged enough just like now but goal here is to run away(yes it is ok to have PVE content that cant be killed without loss) by caping em dry or other ewar so you live to fight another day.
All of this should happen in normal space no site spawns so anyone can participate and anyone that isnt PVP fitted will run or die.
Good thing about new PVE events CCP is introducing (seekers included) is it open way for more stuff like for example take me few days ago when i read in patch notes that seekers drop new loot now i found one group and start blasting them and collect yummy loot....
Apparently another pilot decided that hi could use some of my loot so hi took it counting on me shooting him in my care bear fit i on other hand I counted on him to be just a greedy care bear that took my stuff in his PVE fit....when we exchanged scrams and soon after ammo we realized we were both wrong...one might say a perfect situation....
So we ended having a nice threesome in high sec of all secs (aldo i would liked that NPC considered him as a target too when hi took a piece of their dead comrade) this will never happen in copy paste sansha incursions and imagine whole systems invaded by drifters and providing such content.
I duno i kinda like where it can go and i like threesomes so ...heh.
So i cant say i am really disappointed by CCP removing copy paste drifters.

The issue with content where losses are inevitable is how they need to be made. If you can somehow triage what will be lost and what won't people will throw fodder in the grinder and not care. If you can't then the whole thing become a math calculation of the average value of what is lost compared to how much you make for completing the content. If the return aren't there and the content is not significantly more interesting to run, people won't do it. |
