Hi:
Can anyone tell me what would happen to a courier contract if
1) i had already made the contract 2) the contract has been accepted by a courier but not delivered 3) i delete the contract before it is finished
Do I get my items back , my deposit back or what . I don't want to delete the contract if i am going to lose everything but the contract is not being delivered
thanks in advance for any advice |

I don't think you can delete the contract once it's been accepted.
There's a delivery time (usually 1 day) and a contract length (usually 1 week). They have 1 week to accept the contract; once they accept it they have 1 day to deliver it, or it fails and you get the collateral.

After they accept it, only can you 'delete' it or rather hit the fail button. They get to keep the stuff in your contract and you get the collateral they had to put up to take your contract.
Edit: they can fail it themselves like say they got ganked enroute. If the contract you made has a 1 day time to complete and ut has been longer than that you can fail it

It's quite common for someone to accept your contract with no intention of delivering it promptly.
Once the time is expired, the ball is in your court. You can either give them more time (simply by not failing the contract), or you can fail it. In that situation you get the collateral and the contractor keeps the items (if they still possess them).

Thanks for the answers.
I made it for 14 days like they asked for and it has been over 8 days. So I guess i will wait the time out.

Who did you use?
It doesn't sound like you have used one of the more reputable ones.
I also hope that you made the collateral more than the worth of your items being couriered. |

Personally I always just make them public, and set the collateral at a point where I would prefer for the contract to fail.
Usually I set it at 115% of replacement goods cost, plus 100% of any projected opportunity cost from supply chain interruptions, plus a lot more if there is an urgency to the goods arriving.
Edit: 24 hours delivery time if it's urgent or if it is a scam, 72 hours if it is really not urgent at all (e.g. if I have enough Morphite to last for 2 weeks of production, but I buy another billion ISK worth because it's at a good price).

For what it worth, the server downtime recently has prevented some contracts from being delivered promptly. |

Scams are usually short duration, especially in dangerous areas. Because they know where and when to wait for you. So one way you can make your contract more friendly is to give it a longer duration to complete. This way they can accept and wait until they feel safe before moving the product. I like to give people a week to complete.
