Dust was a unique game in many ways and even to this day you can still have a lot of fun in the game. The customisation lifted from EVE was one of the best aspects. (Even though we still dont have full Racial parity in terms of weapons / vehicles etc... sorry Amarr and Minmatar vehicles....you never made it)
It did have many issues as a game, some of them were design issues but a lot of them were performance and bug related issues. Over time they did manage to iron some of them out and polish the game a bit but I am really hoping that in the next FPS that CCP do, they learn from the past and they do all of the great bits even better.
I also would really love it if there was actual meaningful interaction between EVE and the new FPS. I am hoping that as it will be on PC this time we will see a lot of what we hoped for.

Darth Carbonite Tokila wrote:To say Dust "failed" because it didn't revolve around your favorite area of space is short sighted and incorrect.
Dust ended up being a profitable venture and will have a small hardcore following until the end, but people still call it a failure. Why is that?
Because of poor internal leadership that reached too far and tried too much without focusing on the actual game itself. Faction Warfare, Planetary Conquest, Player Markets, Trading... A scattershot of features that had nothing to do with the core gameplay loop.
Going forward, the focus will be on making an awesome game first, catering to capsuleer dreams second.
Now that is a good thing to hear from a CPM member. I look forward to the information we will get at fanfest even if its only vague.

[Snip] but if there's one thing that stands out to me when interacting with CCP Rattati and crew, it's that they are determined not to make the same mistakes as their predecessors.
I think that is one of the main things that anyone who is interested will be looking for, its pretty much a guarantee that the game will be deep and have great customisation. (Its a CCP product lol) time will tell and fanfest is only around the corner so we will hear their plans for everything.
