About speed-nerfs all over the place. I had a little idea popped into my head while reading the posts. What if there was some kind of "ship max speed"? Might sound to dramatic, but think of it for a while. Intys doesnŠt really have to have a limit, but letŠs take Battleships. A max speed of 1000-something would actually do good, since no BS need to go faster, niether will it brake the MWS/Blaster setups. And the top of the cake; nano-ships will die.
I havenŠt thouht it all through, so feel free to point out anything negative with this idea.
(the number 1000 is just an example).

No matter what the number is, it will feel a little phony. I don't expect the idea to get a lot of support.
But it does seem like EvE moves awfully fast. Every frigate setup includes an ab or mwd, fleet battleships all have mwd for escaping dictor bubbles, etc. I'm not sure I like it.

I agree, and I donŠt think this is the best idea. Though it would probally work in theory, but it would feel so.. un-eve. Just an idea I had =)

Well when we are faced with the Nano-domies and Nano-phons that are completly like WTF. Having a Ship max speed for large ships that acording to the intents of the game mechanic were suposed to be big slow and powerfull. Have been turned into, big fast and powerfull by staking mods that normaly wouldn't belong on such a ship class. Having a max speed to me is teh best idea other then nerfing the mods them selves and thus nerfing them for teh ship classes that they are actuly meant for.
If we dont want rapid BS flying around then specific desings for such high speed BS should be made. Liek for example the german BS from WW2, the Graf Spee or so called pocket battleships.

I think ships need to go much faster then right now in general, but speed mods shouldn't be so extreme. A ship that isn't speed fitted in Eve basicly doesn't move at all right now.

So... what.
Increase Cruiser sized plus speeds, include a Stress point speed (max speed even with mods due to bulk).
Breaking the stress point for too long = structure damage?
All sounds like fun to me!

I guess that could work, but it still feels a little weak to me. There's no other "upper limit" in EvE except the ones defined by the limitations of skills and equipment.
Some kind of mass-based diminishing returns on these items would be more elegant, if you ask me.

imho the key to killing nano bs should be to nerv their agility into oblivion. I personally have no problem about a large ship going insane speed in vacuum, but i have a problem with a large speed at insane speed turning in a dim...
