It's people not mechanics that make a game. All the new Castor toys are going to be fun but really it's the people you surround yourself with that make or break any game. Anything can be fun if you do it with the right people.
Give me great people over mobile refineries any day.

Edited by: Dust Puppy on 15/12/2003 15:31:27 I actually don¦t give a flying f¦ck about the new neat stuff. I¦m much more interested in new game mechanics fixes (nerfs). I might finally be useful in my cruiser or frig in fleet battle
Edit: But you are right it all comes down to the people you play with __________ Capacitor research |

I agree... Anyway, DCM really interest me. New stuff could also bring back many players that left the game due to lack of content... (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

I have to agree totally, I love my cruiser and have even passed up on the chance of a BS.
Its all about the players not the patch's.

Well said Maud Dib I couldn't agree more. Even a mining op is bearable with friendly ppl to banter with to make things go that little bit more quickly/smoothly. I'm not sure what I'd have done if I hadn't found such a great corp and lovely bunch of ppl to spend my time with

Aah, finally a few that get it !
The balancing fixes far outweigh the new toys afaik. New toys are fun, but the fun wont last if the gameplay isnt balanced.

Maud you dumb ass noob
Eve is about owning people, blowing **** up, ganking noobs, having the biggest gun, smack talking, owning loads of battleships, crying when things don't go your way and whining incessantly on the forums and generally trying to tear down anything constructive anyone ever tries to do.
Yep, I've had a bad day on Eve, and I haven't even logged in yet. -------------------------------------------- Dead

I've just about reached the end of my tether with the amount of complete tools that post on these forums. After my thread on the Noobie channel got trashed, I've all but given up.
Its not bugs or exploits or lack of content thats ruining this game, its the mentality of some of the players. Im fed up with completely. Everyone has an opinion and everyone knows best. I particulary love the way some people feel they need to tell CCP how to programme a game, when they probably work in a ******* bank.
And don't get me started on the patch whiners... -------------------------------------------- Dead

Have faith Miso, not everyone is like them and I agree the patch talk has gone way out of control. There are many good player who inhabit the Eve universe and many never even look at the forums. Don't let the narrow minded few ruin it for you.

Miso is no fool, and unfortunately she is mostly entirely right. I've also been feeling similarly unimpressed with the general tacky approach and unfortunate penchant to vainglorious peccadillo most commonly expressed by apparently influencial segments of the player base.
Still, a change is as good as a rest I suppose and perhaps the new patch will provide a diversionary lure to constrast away the endless thoughtless carping and tool-measuring soliloquies most commonly encountered about these boards.
I say ... give disproportionate blueprint rewards to roleplayers and randomly blow up the battleships belonging to asshats.
That would be a good start ;)

I wouls suggest you check out the EVE-I forums Jade. They tend to be a lot more adult about the game (most the time). Personally I read these forums for their entertainment factor. _______________________________________________________ Get custom sigs and graphics done here Unforgivn Website

After all, tool's wouldn't bother maintaining their new toy, they'd use it 'till it broke. Fix0ring is l4m3 etc.

... working with my corp, laughing my *censored* off about our corp chat. It's about people... at the very least some of them give me good reason for a chunk of roleplayed hate... a well-known pirate still owes me a probe he destroyed on one of my first days in EVE, and oh, how I hated him for that... so much more than I hated the Sancha pack that killed my first Vexor.
My corpmates even make me laugh when mining, that's something I wouldn't have thought was possible...

I totally agree there Miso. There are some damn nice people playing the game but theyre is also a really vocal minority of total idiots that ***** and moan and ruin people perception of the game.
Strangly I find alot more of them in empire space. Most folk i meet in 0.0 are more mature, polite and respectful.
Maybe its because people in 0.0 know you can come kick thier ass if they **** you off. j/k
But back to the thread topic... Castor may be giving us new tools and toys but like to original poster said its the people who make the game the toys only help.
Its funny how when we start to fight people they ***** and whine "You are all griefers" etc but when the fighting is over I get messages like "Damn that was fun now I'm bored"
Fight more wars ppl dont be scared. war = content!

Ironically enough, I decided to leave the Eve-I forums well enough alone a while ago after my "history of piracy" article got reprinted there and then pointlessly flamed by a couple of space invader/tti alt types.
Not that I minded Eve-I mods reprinting it ... that was fine.
But I did take great offense at members of the Eve-I user base ripping the daylights out of what was intended to be a thoughtful and useful article on the basis of me being a "whiner".
Seems low-life numpties exist all over the player base.
At least on eve-online forums I have a chance at spotting anonymous posting alts.
*sigh*

Players can't make a crappy game more enjoyable. Not that EVE's crappy, but just in general. Regardless of how cool the people you play w/ are, you still need a decent game to maintain levels of interest and enjoyment.
If all I cared about was the people, I could go join a chatroom!
