ok think about this.
EvE goes Animated, like maybe a Seris or something.
it has great storys, alot of violence and blood, gore, killing, nice people, evil people, sick people, scammers, theifs, killers, pervs, every thing,
and all the short storys is there, and a huge universe to build storys on,
i think it would be a massive hit, if eve had a animated seris.
What do you think?

I've always thought of EvE as a really dynamite IP, and I think more should be done with it than just a CCG.The big obstacle I see for an animated series is that there's no way for characters to emote visibly inside the pod, since you're basically in suspended animation, inside a totally enclosed capsule filled with goo..
I think amore literary medium would be more effective.
If it's going to be some kind of video thing, it should be set in a pre-Pod world, with people in uniforms scurrying around the bridge of a Dominix and using conventional comms systems to get work done.

I think this is a great idea. I would love to see an animated (or acted) interpretation of the Eve Chronicles. With regards to the problem of all the characters being sealed inside pods, well CCP will have to overcome this when they implement walking so we will see what development that will bring. Maybe this will bring about a change which would allow characters to interact in a visible way.

Just remember characters like 'DartH VadeR (tm)' or R2D2... any emotions? Nah.. LOL
Look you can put corpses in dark , or little lighted cans floating in some sorts of luqid ... just like in MATRIX.. or so... but more dark.. Tons of wires , trashes ... and shows spasm of agony, pain or joy etc.... Now put little blue or red light...
Like your dog... It can talk but you know in what mood is it.
Now is role of director how they use it to build atmosphere and build specific 'language' of EVE universum ...

@PlugIn Yes you're right - animals or robots can seem to show emotion. But how would this work in an animated interpretation of Eve when two characters were talking to each other? Would the scene continually cut between two (or more) clones floating in jelly, twitching around in their pod? Personally I think this would be a bit dull. I think the characters would have to leave the pod in order for an animated version of Eve to really work. That or they would have to take android form, and the person inside the pod controls the android through the neural interface to the ship. The android then emotes and interacts with other androids.

Now eve is not 'constans'. There is plenty areas where only your imagination 'take rule' and create this world. So... Why you stay with android? It can be stupid in world where all living beings look like BIG egg. You can see all equpmnt interfaces make to use with them... Lift, tanks, TAXi ... all have big holes for egg. Yes ? Or just why clone? Just extract brain... and put it to little jar... You got plenty space for extra cargo. You can live virtualy (gosh Matrix again). This can be good solution.
CCP plan to introduce wlkable station... so in this time you can realy look at this world and cristalize your vision. Now it can be enything. So disapointing for one... so creative for another.
If CCP want create own vision of future they should make own... not like StarWars, babylon5, Star trek... another clone. They should use all creativity to make it. But why this is close to imposibility? MOney MOney Money... you make product to fill customers need. I wish them more curage to make 'own' changes and visions...

I remember there was one of those animes with the big robots everywhere, where an image of the pilot was overlayed on top of the image of the jumbo mech thingie.
I only saw about two minutes of one episode, but one 'bot had been badly damaged, and was floating crippled in space, while another one, presumably the winner of the fight, held position nearby and the pilots talked to one another. The machines faded out and the pilots, dressed in street clothes, were shown instead, as it they were just flying Peter Pan-style in space. It was a unique way to get around the emotionless ship problem, but perhaps a little too, umm, "anime" for EvE.
I still think an animated series could serve without any pods at all, to be honest.

I'm little fan of animation... all kind of animation, so even ppl 'hated anime style' can make rush of my blood. One word - it must be good. Why? Try to get animation that ppl shows on festwals or watched only by 'small' group ppl on earth (like in asia - lol) ... not in your local TV.. cheap and little outdated.
Like evry form of art - there is plenty bad, good and some exelent work. Try to watch freely acessible 'Animatrix' and you can feel how various can be presented one world.
Anime is good option for Eve, and dont worry :) east studios can make your precious serial without 'big eyes'... Simply HARD ScienceFiction. I can bet on this.

When I said that the pilot is manifest outside the pod as an android, I didn't mean a metallic artificial-looking robot. I mean an android which appears biological and is recognisable as the pilot (think the human form Cylons in the new Battlestar Galactica). This means the pod concept can remain and still allow interaction outside the pod in a way which is both consistent with the pod concept and not as dull as watching two toasters having a conversation

Edited by: Minsc on 22/02/2007 19:48:23 Actually Podpilots can just talk to each other, you could get emotion through with the voices and in bodymovements from inside the pod.
You must remember that these pods are roughly the size of a house so they can't just go anywhere. They are essentially a self-contained ship in thier own right.

I just don't think seeing body movements and facial expressions of a body inside a pod will be dynamic enough. When pilots are interacting I really think they would need to escape the pod or it would be too restrictive.

Don't assume you need to see the pilots. I know I haven't seen this show in ages, and I hate to use this as an example, but the Gundam series. They'd show the little robot suit fellas floating out there in space, dashing about. You'd hear their radio transmissions with just the image of the ships doing whatever it was they would be. The ships would personify the characters - the big, lumbering 'Geddon pilot would have a much different personality than the nimble Buzzard hotshot. Then we could get all philosophical and deep and say that in this far-flung depth of space, being told a story through these goo-filled, twitching sacs of invalid pod-pilots is some dark portent of what is to come. Pilots attached to their ship through the wires/pods/what-have-you, so why not have the characters actually be the ships?

This brings to mind the Ann Mc Caffery Ship People series of books. 'The Ship That Sang' etc where the brain of the people were removed from their bodies if they were born badly disabled and put into cannisters and connected to ships and other vehicles. The ship became the person's body and since they knew nothing different, their minds adapted to it. How would a filmed version cope with that? Probably exactly the same as the Gundam series.
Pod pilots are not really any different except that their bodies are whole.
Edit: What happened to the brilliantly animated intro for Eve that some of the alliance members worked on a while ago? It showed Amarr and Gallente frigates in a shoot-up and the finale was the pod being split in half by an Amarr Inty. That would have been a great start for an animated series, the quality of the rendering made it look almost real.

Podpilots can get out of the pod in station and can interact like normal humans.
