News reaches Gutter Press from the entertainment district of Caille, that a growing number of citizens are of the belief that the exotic dance industry is "institutionally racist", and systematically discriminates against many would-be dancers, based solely on their ethnicity !
Discrimination !
Our investigators visited a great number of exotic dance establishments, to find out the truth of the situation, and interviewed several dancers at those fine establishments, one of the cornerstones of the Federal cultural scene.
"Oh yah, like, if you're not ethnic Gallente, or maybe Intaki, you can just like, forget about being in the high-profile dance productions", said one exotic dancer, of Jin-Mei ethnicity. "Totally. Like, they don't like Minmatar, because of our tattoos and all. Says it like, distracts from the fluidity of the dancing", said another dancer, of Sebiestor ethnic origins. "Oh no, that's not true. There's several Minmatar dancers in a lot of the dance troupes", said an Intaki exotic dancer. "Not really. Those dance troupes picked those Minmatar girls as principals, specifically because they contrast with the rest of the dance corps", said a Gallente exotic dancer.
Tokenism ?
Opinions were also varied amongst the client+¿le of the exotic dance establishments, about the kinds of dancers they preferred to see perform.
"I'm not really a fan of Minmatar dancers. Or of any dancer who has tattoos. When you see them dancing, those tattoos are a reminder that you're looking at a real person, and the performance becomes about that person, and not about the dance movements as an art form", said one exotic dance enthusiast, of Gallente origin. "I disagree, if it's abstract art form dance that you want, you can get that from those drone exotic dancers. I, for one, prefer watching real dancers, rather than robots, and those tattoos or other body art show that it's a real person, and not a machine", said another enthusiast, of Jin-Mei ethnicity. "Those Gallente girls, they have no tats, you know, so it's like, when they dance, they're like, nakeder than Tribal girls, and that's what I come to see. Naked girls", said a Brutor exotic dance fan. "Brutor, what ? Gallente girls are freaky looking, cos they got no tats. Those Tribal sisters are trying to earn a living, why you putting them down like that?", said a Sebiestor exotic dance fan.
Controversial !
Gutter Press also spoke to several academics, including the faculty at the University of Caille School of Dance, which teaches a staggeringly wide variety of dance forms.
"Well, sure, a lot of dance clubs in the terrestrial environments will hire dancers based on skin colours, depending on what look they want", said a vaccum environment dance lecturer. "But, when the dancer's in a vacc-suit, well, skin colour doesn't make a difference. Then, it's purely about the movement." "Any form of body paint based exotic dance will also not discriminate", said another lecturer, specialising in exotic materials. "It's primarily a socio-economic phenomenon", said another lecturer. "At the bottom, are clubs who hire individual dancers. They'll pretty much hire anyone. You get some higher class clubs too, with a more exclusive standards, though they'll hire anyone, based on skill, because they're still marketing individual dancers. Then there's the theatres and such, where they stage group shows, and they'll be looking for people to fit their desired image, now those will discriminate against anyone that doesn't fit the group. Too tall, too short, too cybernetic, not cybernetic enough, too light, too dark. Anyone that doesn't fit won't get in."
Interesting !
It would seem that the exotic dance industry might not be institutionally racist, though some establishments might be, and that overall, the exotic dance industry is a lot more complex than most people realise !
Gutter Press will continue to keep several eyes on the exotic dance industry, keeping our readers abreast of any developments.

Stuck up and elitist, sure... but racist? Hardly. Particularly in the educational setting, racism is pretty hard to find. I'm not sure which lecturers Gutter Press interviewed, but when I was taking classes at the UC School of Dance there was a huge emphasis on diversity. Not just in the student and faculty population, but in the styles taught.
Anyway, there were a lot of things that drove me away from dance and into the military. My caldari heritage was much more of an issue there than in the dance world. |

I'm willing to bet that Gutter Press, assuming they really did any research at all on this topic, only interviewed exotic dancers from within the Gallente Federation because clearly they've never been in a Jita karaoke bar or a Caldari soapland before. Glorious, tube grown butts as far as the eye can see.
Eh, not that I ever go to those places of course.

Well from my limited life, I've found the lithe Caldari exotic club dancers from the under belly of JITA IV to be the supplest creatures this side of freshly grown clones.
They put even the "professional" cough dancers of the gallente to shame. Their form and grace punctuated and accentuated by the forms of the rare Amarrian and ever present Minmatar, are exquisite beyond compare. The "ballet" of the Gallente and their "exotic" dancers just prove little better than the drone hives rendition of the ancient solarian "Swan Lake" (Which by the way just go to prove you can't teach a drone old tricks.)

Try 3 Doors down from the Blue Asteroid Club, Minx Staruss, Jita IV. Their client+¿le whilst distinguished prefer a rather unique and particular class of 'Dancer'
They (The Veteres Ossa Club) cater for the more experienced members of the High Caldari Female Caste who prefer REAL dancers.............

So maybe you're right, and this article only relates to the Caille city dance clubs.

When you're a student of the University of Callie, you have limited funds and if you want to see exotic dancers (female or male) you have to go to some of the low-end establishments. The dancers there might not be as good on the looks as the high-end club, but they have a lotta heart.
The high-end joints are completely prejudiced. They call this "artistic expression" and say "our director has a vision of what she's trying to create" or some crap like that. Really, it's all about getting getting money from the customers. High-end or low-end, it's a business. You do what you gotta to attract customers and give em what they want. So if the high-end clubs are racist, maybe it's because that's what the customers want?
End of the day, a dancer is a dancer, a customer is a customer. You get what you pay for.
TL;DR version, "It was a slow news week at Gutter Press."

They need it so next year they can dance for free at the UC He's just paid for the privilege to watch them before they were trained, before they were famous and before the started keeping their clothes on.......
