I would like to ask any designers, artists, tattooists, or just anyone who fancies having a go to design my next tattoo. I am offering 1 billion ISK reward for the design I choose. Here is my brief......
I want 2 Egyptian cartouches, one with the name 'Tyler' and one with the name 'Harvey' in them. These are the names of my children. The tattoo will be located on the side of my left arm between the elbow and the shoulder. I have a celtic tree of life on the shoulder, so it can't be too large.
That's it. Be as creative as you like, but not too complex. If I like your design, and decide to use it. I will pay you 1bil, and post photo's here of the finished tattoo.
Any questions, feel free to ask here.

Aren't these by nature simply a vertical oval with a name inside? Or is it just an oval with a line at the base running perpendicular to the oval?
If not have the corresponding letters of their names cross to make an "X" out of the 2....although it might be more of a V... |

Making an X is a cool idea, but if I have another child, I would have to change it... |

1 billion ISK for a vasectomy? PM me for an appointment.
Edit: I'd agree that a cartouche by itself is rather uninspiring in its simplicity. Can your sons' names be written in hieroglyphs on said cartouches? |

Im hoping you guys will provide the inspiration. Be as creative as you like, as long as my sons names are in cartouches, you can do whatever with it. |

But English words on a cartouche are just going to be names with ovals around them. A cartouche, by definition, has hieroglyphics on it.
Might I suggest cartouches with your sons' names in hieroglyphs, and then your sons' names in English appearing above or below the cartouches? |

I thought you wanted hieroglyphs in the first place?
So here's one. http://www.virtual-egypt.com/newhtml/glyph/glyph.cgi
and http://www.virtual-egypt.com/newhtml/glyph/glyph.cgi
insert names here if link no workie. http://www.virtual-egypt.com/newhtml/glyph/glyph.html
So with the original idea... Your sons names would intersect at a reed as they share that in common. You could be symbolic with the sun sign and place that above and in the middle of the two cartouches which would be vertical adjoining one another. Technically they can be horizontal, but I guess that was done less often. They're also usually read right to left. 0 <--- sun Name 1 ---> | | <---- Name 2 | | | | I do have something rough in picture however can't send it via eve mail.
Edit damned stupid forum and removing blank space... wont align |

OK, my original idea of the egyptian cartouche's wasn't leaving much room for design, so I have updated my original post. I hope this helps get the creative juices flowing. |

So you've scrapped Egyptian and instead are going with Celtic? That's quite a change there. |

I haven't scrapped anything. I just want a couple of options. The cartouches are simple and I may still go with that. My tattooist is still working on that. I would like to see something Celtic to go with my tree. Don't worry I will still pay for best design here. |

Right under the tattoo? Or under the branches? You could get Celtic symbols for the months they were born. Or animals Representative for their names. (Under the branches.) |
