We are thinking of putting LARGE Minmatar POS up. And i had the follow gun setup.
3 x large Artillery
5 x medium Artillery
10 x cruise missile battery
8 sensor dampners 4 long range warp jammers
2 expl hardners 2 kin hardners 1 thermal hardner
anyone who could tell me if this is a good setup ?

What's it's main purpose?
Moon mining / reacting, POS Warfare, Research, or ship fitting?

Edited by: Raeff on 23/02/2007 15:41:29 this a sov defense POS?
do you think it will be attacked?
what by?(ship wise)
if this is a serious defense POS: add more large guns / add small guns / change 1 or 2 of the warp jammers to webs / cruise launchers wont fire if it is ever put into reinforced so i would rethink those and maybe change them to guns, or put up more hardeners + a few guns
basically a POS is gonna go down if your oponent has dreads and knows how to plan .. if your not sure you can defend against dreads then harden the hell out of it and make it take him all day to reinforce it
if this is just a fun POS then your fine

Seleene posted a fairly through POS defence thread. I keep refeering people to it, so damn, someone should make it a sticky or something.
Large guns, if you are lucky, can pretty much insta-pop a badly fitted battleship. Couple those with some warp scrambling arrays and you pretty much rule out any non-capital based force trying to attack your POS.
However, with enough transversal velocity, battleships can seriously cut down on the accuracy of those large guns. So stick some webifiers in there to cut down on that tactic.
Finally, if you restrict yourself to large guns, you restrict how many targets you can hit at any one time. A bunch of Small/Medium (mainly medium) batteries will cause invading forces to really rethink their setups and tactics.
Personally, I'd drop the cruise missile batteries (as prev poster) in order to gain some more large and med arty's. Then drop your sensor dampners (since dreads are immune to EW whilst in siege mode), and replace them with a few webifiers and some EM/KI hardeners.
