New Game Time Code Rules
Any other forms of GTC trades are no longer supported by CCP.
An option for the safe and secure exchange of EVE Game Time Codes for EVE Online ISK has been added to the account management page. Through the use of this system, EVE players will be able to purchase Game Time Codes without the fear of receiving an invalid code, or offer a Game Time Code for sale with the assurance that payment will be received.
What you do is log into your account management page, https://secure.eve-online.com/login.aspx.
From there you go:
My Account >> Account Services >> Securely Sell EVE Time Code
The procedure there is straightforward,
- You select the character selling the code.
- You type in the name of the character you are selling the code to.
- You type in your price for the timecode.
The system will automatically verify the validity of the code, then send the buyer an EVEmail with the offer. The offer is valid for 48 hours. The buyer must log into the account management page and accept the offer.
The gametime will be automatically added to the buyers account and the payment will be automatically deposited to the sellers wallet.
Not only will this new option improve Game Time Code transaction security, it will also severely decrease the number of petitions submitted for GTC scams, thus allowing the GM team to focus their efforts elsewhere and continue to improve the EVE gaming experience.
Please Note: You must purchase an EVE Game Time Code through one of the normal outlets in order to sell the Time Code.
Any other forms of GTC trades are no longer supported by CCP.

New Game Time Code Guidelines
Any forms of GTC trades outside the CCP created systems are not allowed or supported by CCP.

Through the use of this system, EVE players will be able to purchase Game Time Codes without the fear of receiving an invalid code, or offer a Game Time Code for sale with the assurance that payment will be received.

surely this system will merely encourage more ebay sales. Before people legitimately converted isk to cash via GTC. Now they will turn back to ebay for it.

Reduce the amount of relatively simple to do petitions involving timecard scams with much more work for GMs tracking ISK sellers ? This cannot fail!

Very good system but there is 1 feature missing. The Buyer should be able to choose the account he wants to charge. The account with the money or another account like the industry alt.

Edited by: Fliewatuet on 23/02/2007 16:20:20 So, looks nice and you can be sure the code is valid. But then, i usually play with two accounts. I don't care when my account expires, in case that happens i just buy another gtc with the other code, log in with the expired account and activate it again.
Am i right in understanding that the gtc is directly added to the account i buy it with? I can't use it to extend another account? Or use it to give a friend more than 14d to get addicted? Or even save the code so i can use it later on for any account i choose to?
Well, its nice to add a way to avoid scamming and thus workload on GMs. But i don't want to loose freedom and be forced to do it a certain way! :( I play to have fun, not to monitor yet another date so i don't forget extending soon enough!
So, please add a way to get the code itself out of the system.

Edited by: Drgnvale on 23/02/2007 16:20:29 ^^^ But do you need anything from the eve-mail that is sent to you?
A nice solution to the problem of expired alt accounts would be allowing the buyer to specify which account the time goes to. As far as people who already have expired accounts go, if they don't have another account you already have to trust that they will pay you if you spot them the code, so you could just do it that way and not have CCP's protection.

Well, CCP certainly thought this one through. Quoting the FAQ for this new "service":
How will I know that the transaction has gone through? As soon as the transaction goes through you will receive the ISK into your wallet. (Note: Shouldn't the seller get an evemail receipt?)
Apparently they put so much thought and work into this they didn't have time to remove the editorial notes on the FAQ.

Edited by: Plekto on 23/02/2007 17:30:04 Edited by: Plekto on 23/02/2007 17:29:25 I second this. We need to know who we are buying from/selling to.
Also, why not just skip the middleman part and make it that you can buy ISK for a set fee? Magic Online does this - they have $1 certificates that are effectively used like cash to buy and sell cards online. As it is now, I would have to buy a card, find a buyer, do the transaction, and hope it's not from an enemy or macro-miner. I'd so much rather just pay a one-time $10 or $20 charge and get some isk that way.
If it was me, I'd do away with the timecards completely and just make it so that you charge us extra on our account. Simple to track as well, since you would need a credit card to play the game. Yes, I know you would lose some few players, but given how huge EVE has become in the last year alone, I doubt it it would hurt sales that much.

personally I don't like this because of the fact that I can't choose to whom the card will go to. Instead of being able to hold onto my number and use it at my leisure I have to have it instantly used. Can CCP do anything to aid in this. I mean verification is great, but perhaps I want to use it on a different account later on. Please help with this, as this is my normal means. Perhaps the option to have the card not applied, but instead to keep the number?

Exactly my thoughts,
When my accounts expire i topup, will i have to log in the game to check what the mail says?? and lets say even if it does work when the is account closed, what if i am not sure if i have isks for the transaction?
Btw this is a great idea, the next step is to be able to make gtcs public on contracts, once the system verify the code then it set up an ingame contract, first come first served :)

major difference between your proposal and current implementation.
Current method _creates_ no new ISK. It only relocates existing ISK in the system to changing ownership.
Your proposal out and out creates ISK from nothing with no player time and effort associated with its creation.
It'd be like when desperate nations print more money without having more resources to value it against (pre-WWII Germany, anyone? )
Just a counter point. The current mechanism allows players to be the controls both in isk acquisition for money rate AND in ISK creation.

Personally, I don't like the part about a code I purchase automatically being applied to my account. I'd like the option to "bank" the time code, allowing me to apply it to my account later on if I want to, or the option of reselling it to someone else. Thus, a new form of trading is created... those who buy the cards for low amounts of ISK and resell them for higher amounts. This could be done under the previous GTC sales rules, but you couldn't verify that a code was valid until you'd resold it and gotten a complaint from the buyer... this new system, since it checks the code's validity, would be perfect (IMO) if it allowed us this option.

Let me preemptively answer some of the questions being asked here. No, I'm not the official source, I'm just using a little common sense. Mods, if I'm wrong please correct me, these are all valid questions that need to be answered about this system.
Q1) What if my account is expired? I can't get in-game to check my EVE Mail! A1) The EVE Mail only notifies you that an offer has been made. You will always be able to login to your account management page whether your account has expired or not. Thus, if you arrange through the forums to purchase a GTC for a character, and the seller says "I have sent you the GTC" - at this point you log into the secure site and accept the GTC, no need for in game action whatsoever!
Q1a) What if my expired account doesn't have the required funds in their wallet? A2a) This will not prevent you from transferring funds in from another account, at which point purchasing the GTC should not be an issue.
Q2) What if I want to buy a card for a friend? I can't purchase the code and send it to him as it's automatically applied! A2) Send your friend the ISK and let them do it themselves.
Q3) Can a trial account use this service? A3) Are you able to login to the account management page with your trial account? You are?! Congratulations, you can use this service.
Q4) I don't want to buy from nasty XYZ alliance, how am I going to know who I'm purchasing from? A4) You're not. You never did. Alts are all over the place, and it's simple for someone to create a noob-corp alt to do GTC sales with. The best you're going to be able to do is look them up in-game once you've seen their forum posting.
Q5) I want to buy a card now but use it on a different account later! How can I? A5) Um. Why? Buy the card later with the other account, problem solved.
There, I've done my charity work for ISD for the year!

I also think there may be a Tax reporting implication for what they have done.
With the old system it was impossible to track who was converting ISK into RL cash (after all you get a service for free if you pay with Isks, worth $180 pa). The new system allows you to do so. It probably helps them meet reporting requirements for impending US tax laws.

Well, one reason is that it always takes some time to find a gtc for correct price, and once you find a source you might want to buy many at once, but not USE all of them at once. No point to buy and activate gametime for year at a time, if I know I'm going for a long holiday for example. And When I get back from the holiday, I want to activate right away and set a skill on, not spend potentially days getting a gtc first. Mmm you realize you can still trade codes the old way (maybe except not advertise it on the forum) but without being covered by CCP. Or am I wrong?
tbh as others has said I'd like the ability to "bank" the code, this way I will have to send ISK around to my other accounts and buy with them instead of buying the code with this char and then apply to the account I want.
Sure I can wire the money to my other accounts first but imo it creates an extra useless step.
Just add so that the buyer can chose if it should be applied directly or be shown the code (to prevent others from selling and then using the code).
Anyway good going hope it turns out for the better.
PS. ETC traders just got screwed

The best you're going to be able to do is look them up in-game once you've seen their forum posting.
All good questions and answers except this one. While it is true that if you buy from an alt you cant know who the main of that alt is unless he tells you (then proves it), this does not mean you wont have control over who you buy from.
This is how a GTC transaction will work now.
Person A pays real $$$ to buy a GTC from a 3rd party GTC seller like www.shatteredcrystal.com Person A makes a sell forum post saying he is selling GTCs for X isk. Person B sees the post and convos Person A in game (or posts) saying "Sell one to me please!" (See? Person B gets to chose who he buys from) Person A then uses the secure webpage method and sends an official offer to person B. Person B gets an CCP generated evemail stating who is selling an X day GTC and for what price. Person B logs into their account page and accepts the offer from person A. X isk is taken from person Bs wallet and added to person A's. GTC time is applied to person Bs account. GTC is now used up.

hmm possibly it would be MUCH better if the system just gave you the option to either mail you the code or to extend game time. i buy and stockpile, i even sell a few of them on for profit, this just seems overly controlling. iv bought hundereds and NEVER had a problem

Edited by: Traxman on 23/02/2007 19:06:57 Why not make it a bit more simple. Why hazzle with to whom you want to sell your Timecard to, just enter the timecard number and price, ccp verify the number and presents it as 30/50/90/100D and the amount of isk. When you logon to you account, just check the list over TCs being sold and click on what you want.
For the seller, he dont need to book a code for a special person, for the buyer he just need to check the list, and take what he want from it.
For example, the most tc sellers for me are around 7am in the morning for me(GMT+7) so i have some hard time sometimes to find one and buy it, now i could logon and take a timecard and the payment goes directly to the seller that wont be needed much time either to annouce the codes. This will also be less posts on the forum too so it saves time for us all.
Before the contract system was comming i said it should be implanted in contracts with verified code etc for easy access to them, this is a good way too.
If there is problem with the website and TC selling, would you not agree to support the TC selling atleast to the problems are solved permanent ?
Added:
As Chribba said, why not even have a input field where we could enter the chars name we want to transfer the code too ? )

For me, the ability to bank GTC is quite important. Finding a good price can be tricky, and being capable of choosing when to renew is something I'd like to control.

"Ebaying" is a synonym for RMT as kleenex is a synonym for tissues. You dont actually need ebay to "ebay" ...

CCP should apply the code DIRECTLY on receipt to the account. I am sure that ETC Resellers (there are probably -0- legit ones who arent breaking the TOS) will love this feature and hate it at the same time.
But lets keep in mind here, most people buy codes to use, and NOW it can be done with no scamming. Some people are saying "wow, this is lame, scamming wasnt a big issue" but they are not considering what happens when someone pulls in say 6b, sends out 2b to random chars, and then sells 4b and sends out rougly the same amount. This change will stop a LOT of hassle that the GM's have while removing 100% of hassle that players get from this.
As for some people saying "way to go ccp, we cant sell our isk any more by buying time codes and selling them for cash"... That was against the rules anyhow so who gives a flying F***..

tbh as others has said I'd like the ability to "bank" the code, this way I will have to send ISK around to my other accounts and buy with them instead of buying the code with this char and then apply to the account I want.

I do think that a way to "bank" the code would rock, but that would mean that resellers can use the codes. I dont want to see the code apply'd directly to the account (it means that lock'd older accounts (I have like 4) cant be unlock'd at a later date (eeek)...
But all in all I love that ccp has done this and I WISH that there was a way to let more players know about this path. I hate the idea of some pud making 2k$ a week on ebay while some nublet ends up getting banned cause he doesnt know there's a better way.

Ever hear of market makers in the real world? People buying/reselling the codes were creating liquidity -- at any one moment I knew I could go to e.g. Won Ton and either buy or sell a GTC without waiting. Yeah, it cost me probably 20M for the privilege, but the convenience was worth it to me. Now I have to post to the forum and hope someone is willing to take the other side of the trade when I want to make the trade, and for an amount I wish to trade for.
Still, a pretty minor inconvenience, and many leaps in the right direction. But you are wrong re: nobody cares about the GTC traders.

I'd personally prefer not to buy it from certain alliances.
All this replaces is the end of the transaction. You still have to find someone selling a card and tell them you want it, so they can put their character name and yours into the system. It's not like you're going to an anonymous list of cards, picking one out, and paying for it. |

I read through the posts and i think it will be power up the old way GTC selling/buying. Because:
1. Automatically update expire time on buyer account is not good.Lots of player use the codes for trading not for extend their accounts. It will be better if the player could decide of when he want use up the code. Of course with these step of CCP can reduce the income of RL sellers. But, I think it wont bring it on.It will help on that players whose would like extend their own expire date.
2. Why would like CCP reduce the GTC sells in RL? Those selled GTC are come from CCP...somebody must buy it before he sell it, isn't it?
Finally.. The idea is great. You can buy codes without any fear.Just some swicth must be integrated. ;)

Your forgetting that CCP doesnt want you to be able to RESELL timecodes.
You buy a time code for your own use, not to resell to someone else. Because reselling also allows a proxy where ISK can be turned into $$$, by buying the code for ISK, then selling the code on ebay cheap.
I doubt CCP wants this, which is why the code is consumed once the transfer takes place.

the thing is that they can't just sell isk for cash because that would flood the market with new currency and totally ruin the ingame economy. (worse then it already is). By letting people buy GTC's with isk they make money off the people buying the codes and the existing currency ingame is cycled...
but if they made it so once both partys confirmed the buyer got an email with the GTC instead of applying it to the buyers account that would be much better...

No resellers will be great!
Now buyers will get the original price of the code, not one that has been marked up by 50-100%. There is nothing worse the people doing this.
If people want to be able to bank the code ..great.. but it should not be allowed to resell it, just transfer to another account (traded NOT sold) or use it yourself later. I see no reason buyer should be able to see the code number at all.
Great job so far CCP!

Thanks to this nice new system I lost about 20 days. I had valid subscription to 16.3.2006. I used as payment method my visa. I assumed that buying 90 GTC will extend this (I think that it is logical), but it is wrong. Now I have subscription valid to 24.5.2006. This is not whining, only warning for others, but I think that it is very stupid to wait until end of subscription and then extend it.

Since I am allready posting, I'll give you bit of info.
There are several important reasons why this was implemented.
For some time now we have accepted and supported GTC for ISK trade. We are aware that there are many countries where access to the normal payment methods is severely restricted and was keeping customers from playing. Thus we allowed other players who had better access and means for payment to pay for the unfortunates' subscription in return for ingame isk, as long as certain rules were followed.
We tried several times to make the rules more strict to limit scams, with minimum effect. With the number of scams going on we felt that it was vital to create a safe, non-scammable way for customers to use this option.
The issues causing a heavy load on Customer Support were two fold. GTC resellers who made a mistake when sending a code, or resellers who were themselves scammed, but did not report it since they were keeping the code in the "bank." Primary problems arose from GTC scams. Why didn't you just ban all the scammers? We did, but since the vast majoroty of those scamming were selling isk for real money, we were simply banning throwaway accounts. The same scammers would connect from a different IP create a new account and do another scam. We would ban the account, reverse all donations. Rinse and repeat.
Many might not realize this but the load on Customer Support due to these things was simply absurd, and in concert with other issues, resulting in a deteriorating service towards the rest of the community. The Secure GTC trade feature is a part of an ongoing plan to bring EVE subscribers the Customer Support they deserve and the support we promised.
And you deserve the best.

I have not tried the new system yet, and I do not need to try it for another three weeks.
I do, however, feel that this should be how it works, though probably is not how it currently works:
- Player A purchases a GTC
- Player A enters the GTC's code "on the card" into their account page
- The code "on the card" is now invalidated, and the code has now been morphed into a new code and added to Player A's "bank"
- Player A and Player B come to an agreement on a price for the GTC
- Player A enters the GTC into a sell order in the account website
- Player B accepts the offer on the account website, GTC is removed from Player A's bank and added to Player B's bank
- Repeat ad infinitum until GTC is used to extend a player's account
Doing it that way would eliminate converting ISK to real-world money (you cannot enter the GTC into the system twice, even from the same account), continue to eliminate fraud (player a cannot sell the GTC to someone else if player b doesn't immediately use the GTC to extend his account), while allowing for people to bank cards to use when they want or to resell cards for different prices.

Correct i think that lots off people will have the same problems..just please add the option that will allow us to choose the account we want to extend(for example i have two accounts and use only one to buy the codes).. Second thing should be that so i should be able to choose the time when i want to reactivate my account(like sometimes im training very long skills or have other breaks)or leave it suspended for some time.. Now i'll be for example unable to give the code for someone as a gift :( I was happy when i was able to bring my brother to this game by buying him the codes.. Just please add that option.. When i think about it atm it makes me sad Kind regards

I find it pathetic that people in this game cannot earn their own ISK's the proper way...Yes, true that takes hours upon hours, but so what this game is build that way. So, noone should complain or raise their "hissy fits" about it!!!
Also, people purchasing ISK's outside from EVE, don't really have to do much at all, just make sure to train up their skills and then once they got "decent skills" they go on Harrassing "newbies" and acting thuff, such babies What can you do, people got addicted to cheat codes...lol, easier with cheat codes then earn your way on your own...That is one thing i like about this game and is one reason why i decided to continue playing after the trail period. The fact you earn your way in EVE with time and as you advance in your virtual life you just get better and better, as well as being able to use advance "things".
I personally am not interested in such a new feature it really draws me away from EVE a bit, You cheapskates make me sick lol boohoo

This would be good. I know there is no incentive for CCP to do this but I believe there is a scam going on at the moment where (illegal) account swaps are being done (victim thinks they are saving $$$) and the scammer does a petitionable trade between two of his own accounts prior to the swap.
After the swap occurs the scammer petitions and the victims new account is now debited of the ISK.
The victim is too scared to petition as they were breaching the rules by swapping accounts in the first place.
I've seen this happen to someone I know and I am assuming it is happening elsewhere.
No, it wasn't me fortunately.
I like my main a lot. :P

Take an economics course. Discover that reselling increases market turn over, welcome to real life, stop whinging about resellers who are often supplying a service to people who would otherwise be unable to access such.
Scammers were a problem. But people who whinge about resellers better start burning down their supermarkets and intermediate distribution centers because guess what, THEY'RE RESELLERS lol! Econ 101. Learn it, apply it, and pipe down.
Besides, most of the trusted GTC resellers will continue to resell like they always have, just means there will be more trust involved, since CCP hasnt made comment on the official outlawing of the old method.

Thx to all you that tried to help me, but i have figured it out abd i would like to explain what was causing it. For some reason, after a hour of trying different number combinations, I said to myself, i said "Self" lets try turning on NumLck and then try using just the number pad and Little fireworks went off as to my amazement it took the numbers. I write this for those who do not know, and may be having the same problem as i was, use numlck, and the number pad not the numbers above the letters for some reason this new form did not accept my entry any other way. For the record i am using a Ideazon Z-board, and i do not know if that has anything to do with it, but well hopefully this will help others. Thx everyone for taking the time to try to help out.

Edited by: Miss KillSome on 24/02/2007 09:41:55 daring idea, but what if u could morph that ETC u get into module? So when u click on module and select Use, then module dissapeares and u get a extension of subscription on account on which u used this module..
It doesnt matter which code is now in, coz the second u'll use this module, it will delete itself. Module is named by how much days it gives u, and they can be stackable.
U could create contracts or direct trade it. U can "Use" it from your assets, so no need for hauling it to somewhere else. U can even set a volume of a module to something really big, so it cannot be put into any freighter/carrier/titan..
U can have a option when that mail arrives, if u wanna use that ETC or morph it into module for further sale or use on other charachter.

The selling of GTC for ISK is an ongoing practice. This is not a new type of sale, but a new way to secure the transactions and reduce the scams. They did not recently add selling, just made it safer for both players involved in the trade.

Edited by: Evil J on 24/02/2007 13:35:49 ok here's one question..
I have alt whos on standby (expired account). I wanna buy him now 30 days GTC and all ISK I have, I have on my main char. DO I need now to send money on my alt ( expired ) and then log on his account management page to buy GTC, or I can buy him GTC somehow from my main char? SO again, most important: Can I sand ISK on expired account and then use that to buy him GTC?
tnx

The alt needs to make the purchase, so the alt needs to have the ISK available. Try to send some ISK to the inactive alt and as long as that completes the character SHOULD have the ISK to make the purchase via the accounts management page. If the ISK does not transfer, then you will have to first reactivate the account by providing a CC or a valid GTC code number.

First, buying directly from CCP would be stupid for CCP to implement. This means they get no money. GTC selling still involves SOMEONE buying the code, and that's what's important.
Giving you the code after a transaction defeats the purpose of the thing being secure now. The only way I could see this happenning is if: 1.Seller inputs code and is verified. 2.Buyer buys, NEW code is given to buyer, to use or resell or whatever. This eliminates the problem with someone selling their one code multiple times and everyone he sells it to just banking it. It would make the sellers code "used" and the buyer would have a completely new, valid code that isn't known by anyone else.

I just tried out the new system by selling a GTC. I got the object error others complained about, but I hit the back button on the browser and the sell order showed up on the list. I told the buyer to claim it and it worked.
It took a minute to get the ISK, and my wallet icon did not start glowing when I got it. The ISK shows up in my new total, but nothing in journal or transaction log. So I guess I would say that the system works.

I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but could somebody post a quick, simple but complete writeup about what selling Game Time Codes means, how the translation between real money and ISK functions, and and why you would do it. Thanks for your help.

Well, we don't need this. Would only make sense If you want to resell GTC's, and GTC as -Ingame trade good of 3rd Parties was not really intended as it gots allowed.
Instead i Suggest that after you buyed the GTC you manually need to "activate" this new Key via a Switch in the Account Management. In this way you could always Buy cheap in advance and Use them While needed and still have the Opporunity to "save the 14 days" you are off to Holidays.
Even if an Offline mate (comming back from WoW, Vanguard or another trial, beta or game) could get easy an new GTC. He checks his wallet on the Character section, (you could wire/lean him money) then he walks up to the GTC sell Section of the Forum (wich should really get seperated together with Char Sales from other WTS/Auction Stuff) looking up a seller and then buys the Code.
I had my Problems with the new System to understand at first, but the longer i think about it, the more i really start to like it.
summ up: WE need a switch to manually activate the buyed GTC at any Time as an Option in account management page (no need to show the GTC, prevents reselling)
Please, please, please a seperated section for GTC's and Chars for sell, would really help

CCP, please just make it so a timecard code can be converted into an in-game item. Call it a "pilots license" that stacks and can be traded on the market just like a skill book.
Then people can buy a GTC, convert it to an in-game item and use the current market that is already implemented.
For expired accounts, they can use the current system.
Resellers couldn't sell the same code multiple times if the buyer converts it to an in-game item, and you could even sell GTC's yourself on the account management page and people wouldn't have to go to other websites to start the process.
If you implemented it this way, someone could:
1 Go to the account page and buy 5 GTC's 2 Convert those 5 GTC's to "pilots licenses" 3 Log in and put them on the market for xxx isk
There would be less crud filling up the forums, less petitions, a better experience for all involved.

All in all I like the new system, though as a potential customer for isk traded GTC's I can also relate to points made by resellers and I think there is a place for such services (which in my eyes increase availability for sellers and buyers alike) unless the system would go full auto where one could sell and purchase GTC's from an ESCROW like market.
Now as to implementation it'll get a negative mark from me. As Langhorn, I too have tried to accept the offered and agreed upon transaction and get the same error.
Quote: ERROR: There is insufficient result space to convert a money value to int.
English isn't my native language and my attempts to interpret the above left me clueless (although I doubt that it makes that much more sense to the native speakers). Upon closer inspection of the web page given offer I find the displayed "Asking amount(ISK)"-line questionable, because it includes the letters "ISK" in it's value (example: "Asking amount(ISK): ISK50.00" instead of just reading "Asking amount(ISK): 50.00"). Reading that TruthTragik had problems as a seller to enter the asking amount correctly, further increases my suspicion. Therefor I would suggest that a 'sanity check' would be made before a GTC enters the process and not after it's locked in there for 48h and a buyer with the best intentions appears powerless to accept the swap. In short, this system needs to be idiot proof. Players of EVE do foolish things, I've done so as have others. To quote Einstein: "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." or as I read on some characters bio: "Two things in the EVE universe appear to be in abundance, veldspar and the stupidity of players" - so please CCP try to increase the failsafty of this feature.

After reading the majority of this thread, and not all because it started repeating, I realize problems with this new service.
CCP basically killed GTC speculation for ISK. Most of the people selling GTC's aren't buying them for cash. They buy them from ISK from other people for cheaper and resell.
I don't think I would use this service because it instantly applies the GTC to the account that bought it.
The problem with banking the GTC's for someone who bought them is the seller could turn around and sell the same code again.
Easy solution to that is invalidate the code that was sold when it is transfered, and generate a new code for the buyer. The buyer then can resell or add to an account or give to a buddy.
This is in your best financial interest CCP. -=Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds=- |

Well if i cant use GTCs manualy whenever i want to its CRAP, CRAP, MEGA CRAP! Its bad idea to automaticly add codes to account.
I was buying 90d GTC from guy who told me that hes selling via new rules. First ive received evemail with information that im buying 90d gtc for 350m then i confirmed, sended isks and next evemail which ive reveived looked like this :
Qty Description Comment Price Amount 1 EVE Online 90 days prepaid access code $38.99 $38.99 ** Code: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
So he used new rules or just sended me regular evemails like in old rules? Code worked of course. I could give it to friend etc.
So....? Im confused.

I'm not too happy about this system. The verification is great, it means less petition work. The lack of personal freedom however is not.
I realize that if you buy a code and don't use it right away, the seller could potentially resell it.
It's an easy fix really.
Make it so that once the system verifies the code sale from one character to another, it registers the code with that account. It's now added to a "time code bank" on that account. Now only that account can use this code, unless he sells it to someone else, in which case the code gets registered with the new buyers account and deleted from the old buyers account.
This would allow people to trade codes between their own accounts or corp members, it would allow resellers to buy and sell codes and it would eliminate all scamming. Personal freedom and less petitions in one package.
See the light. /Pandora

I'm not sure if I was the first to say it on the forums. But I suggested a web based system ages ago.
The buyers can play without getting ripped off. It also stops all this selling reselling crap that allows people to make tons of isk from RL money or generating stupid amounts of isk from RL items instead of investing time in the game.
Gonna have to invest some time ina ctually playing the game now aren't we?

I thought this was a great idea when I first read it, So I thought I would give it a try. Playing to pay for game time sounded like a good way to go. I had a credit card on-line for my subscription. The last bill date was Feb. 18th. So I picked up a 90 Day GTC in the new system.
Then new GTC took over, Started today and cleared out the 21 days left on my credit card billing cycle. I suggest you just post or bank these codes. I don't think paying twice for these next 21 days is fair, not matter how I pay for the game.

However, I have a big problem: I wanted to buy a GTC for 30 days, but I DON'T want the code to be added NOW. I am going on vacation, and wanted to add the code in around 4 weeks from now. This seems not anymore possible.
How can I get a GTC-30 when My account (game time) has expired? Is there any way to get a GTC this new way when not being ingame?

Sounds like he did not have his CC charged yet. He may decide to use long subscription periods and pay by CC through his account, but he does not get extended time (that 1 year) until his current paid time expires.
So if you sign up for an account, pay for 3 months, then change to 6 months you don't get charged until those first 3 months are gone. In order to extend his account by CC, he will need to wait for the 90 days paid time to expire and have the appropriate options selected in his account billing settings.

1) If you use alts as spys, you need to have an unimportant alt on that "spy" account to tell the seller the name of this unimportant alt. This of course is also relevant if your JUST DON'T WANT TO tell other people what other characters you have. --> CCP, please let us store ETCs and give as an option to apply a ETC to another account than the one that bought it.
2) If you forget to empty the wallet of your alt before the account goes inactive (= "have less than 1 Bil"), you will not be able to reactivate this account via ETC --> CCP, please get rid of this limit, if it really exists
thx

Please sort this issue out CCP.
There has to be an easy way for it to be sorted out so that it's possible to buy a card on one account and applied to another. I would have thought CCP took this into consideration for those of us that were tempted with the power of two offer way back when.
This needs to be sorted out regardless not only for the folk that pay for the service but also for CCP, thats making an additional killing on GTC sales.

Check this post by GM Nova regarding lost days after using GTCs. So file a petition if you had a similar problem.

Hi Rado. File a petition and we will correct this at once. Do not hesitate to contact Customer Support when you have a real problem like this.

I checked with a GM and got some information. The old way of trading GTCs is still allowed and scamming with GTCs that way is STILL a bannable offense. Contrary to what the FAQ is saying, your petition will NOT be ignored/deleted if you are scammed using the old system of trading GTCs. However, you will no longer get your isk back as you really don't have an excuse for not using the secure system.
I like this way, it means the secure system can be used for buying GTCs or selling them but reselling them is no longer officially supported, meaning the old insecure system is only good for resale and only useful if you can trust everyone involved. That means it's fine for use with your friends and family, as it was intended. For example, someone buys you a game time code for a present and you sell it on for isk, that's how it's intended to be used.
Another nice feature is that we can use the new website to test the validity of codes by sending them to an alt using the new system and withdrawing the offer.

Edited by: DaneelROlivaw on 01/03/2007 12:20:34 Good job CCP
but not beeing able to use GTC when u need it is quite painfull. there should be a button:
"activate 30/60/90day GTC now"
in account management. instead of adding the time right away. lots of players like to have something in the back, when suddenly ;) you cant log in anymore, because account has expired. i am used to just pull out a gtc and continue to play right away, like many others. No need to actualy see the code, but to have it, and beeing able to activate it on that account, whenever you want it, is quite a good feeling.

Very nice idea... although... Sellers like myself only sell ETC when needing a boost in cash for some items.
It'd be nice to be able not to specify a buyer, and that the time code appears on the market for example (in the game client).
Or something like this :) so buyers can just buy them off a list :) -------------------------------------------------- No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. -------------------------------------------------- |

There seems to be a serious conflict in facts between the OP here by CCP Wrangler and the EVE support Knowledge Base.
In the OP here, we see the title "New Game Time Code Rules" and "The gametime will be automatically added to the buyers account and the payment will be automatically deposited to the sellers wallet." (emphasis added by me). We also know that the new GTC system is intended at least for active accounts, since the original post states "The system will automatically verify the validity of the code, then send the buyer an EVEmail with the offer."
In contrast, The EVE support Knowledge Base entitled "Payment options and account modifications" (at http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=21) states Quote: "Please note: If you are switching to Game Time Cards from other payment methods, make sure your subscription period has expired before activating the Game Time Card. It will take effect immediately, regardless of the remaining time of your previous subscription."
Indeed, if one tries to change payment methods, they are warned with Quote: "Your current subscription still has XX days remaining. If you change now those days will be lost, we recomend that you come back at a later date."
I applauded the new secure GTC system. Based upon this OP by CCP Wrangler, I confidently traded ISK for a code while logged on an account previously paid by credit card. I received the EVEmail. The new system verified the valid code and activated it. And now "My Account" says my time balance equals that of the GTC only -- 60+ days of balance from my previous purchase apparently lost! Foolish me. No warnings about losing my balance (unlike when manually changing payment types).
Well, thanks to the new system, I at least didn't get cheated by the person selling the GTC Yes, I've petitioned it.

Allow me to add to my previous message.
It appears as if the fundamental cause of the trouble I experienced is due to the inability of CCP to handle multiple payment methods on the same account. This is purely speculation here, but handling multiple payment methods might be technically tricky, including the posting of payment summary at "My Account". It might also offer accounting challenges (although it seems a "first in, first out" accounting system should work fine).
My particular problem could have been avoided if there were adequate warnings about time balance loss during the secure GTC transaction. It would also be nice if, should the GTC be declined after the warning about remaining balance, CCP would EVEmail the GTC seller that the offer was declined because of a remaining balance (rather than the buyer simply having second-thoughts).
Ultimately, the notification of an offer to sell a secure GTC via EVEmail seems impractical unless: a) the account is already being paid via a GTC or b) if the remaining balance of time on the account is insignificant enough to be tossed away by its owner. We already know that EVEmail is not practical for those wanting to reactivate an expired account.

2007.03.07 12:45 A friend of mine asked me to purchase a GTC for him, and this is what I did. Unfortunately, your new service changed my payment method from CC payment to the GTC payment, without me confirming that change.
I was planning to give out this code to my friend, but instead, it was not only used automatically, but it has also disrupted my payment period, without my consent. Buying a GTC should not imply a desired change of payment option. Please try to fix this problem - I've petitioned it to no avail and I'd like to sort this out before the GTC is one day short.
Thank you for your reply Tripex

Just a follow-up to my issue (secure GTC purchase negating time already paid by credit card). CCP has resolved MY issue to my satisfaction - thanks. At the very least, the new system allows CCP support to view the facts of all sides of a GTC/ISK transaction.
Hopefully, the user interface of this new feature will become more refined in the near future. I also hope that CCP streamlines mixed payment methods for a single account. For example, extending time with a GTC but with a credit card account securing payments for future play time. Everyone wins: No disruption of EVE time for players and a CCP will get future payments (via credit card) until the player stops the account.

my problem is a bit more complex ^^
First i bought a 3 month billing with credit card (until 3 march 2007 in theory) Second i bought a 90 days GTC and added it to my account the 28 februar 2007 (so i lose 3 days, but that isn't the main problem) in order to avoid a second paiement by credit card the 3 march 2007 Third the 3 march CCP took me 38,85Ç from my credit card, and i don't wanted that !
In addition, it seems i paid for nothing, because NO paiment by credit card i made/they took is archived, and the second paiement by credit card (unwanted) added no time at all to my account : ------------------------------------ Username: Thorgoth Payment Type: EVE Time Code Change ? Subscription Status: Active Expires: 5/29/2007 5:56:15 PM Extend Payments made: 2
Recent Transactions 2/28/2007 5:56:15 PM EVE Time Code 90 days 10/27/2005 7:57:04 PM Promotional Game Time 14 days
----------------------------------------------------
I did a petition 3 days before and i've no answer by CCP, is it normal? I never petitioned so maybe is it longer than a couple of days? What will they do for me ?
Excuse my poor english but i'm a frog

***** ANSWERS TO POPULAR QUESTIONS *****
1. No you can NOT buy the card on one account and use it on another.
2. If your account is NOT active (ie. your time expired) you can purchase a GTC is the way indicated at the start of this post. As long as you have the money on the account you just log onto the account using the link provided int eh first post. You click on "Game Time Card Offers" or what ever its called ( its right under "Cancel Subscription" but only appears of a seller has made an offer to you). All you do is make sure the price and the time length is what you agreed upon and click accept.
3. "What if i don't have the money on the account that has lapsed into inactivity?" - You can still transfer money to it from an active account. I did this for my friend. Worked well.
Would like to thank Aybabtu for helping me figure this out and selling me the GTCs. Also would like to tank CCP for making a secure way of doing this.

Please make this possbile
Guy 1 sells 30day TC
Guy 2 tells Guy 1 he wants it for 150m
Guy 1 sends it to Guy 2 for 150m
This is how it is now, but this shuld be added
Guy 2 can see that he has an offer for 1x 30day tc for 150m ISK, he has an option "What characters wallet should suffer" (on the same account ofc), and an option to "Give away TC to other account".
Guy2 can then pay for a TC, and Guy 3 gets a free offer for the timecard.

Originally by: Hauling I find this ridiculous, tbh. Now those who worked hard to gather that ISK are gonna be beaten by rich ppl in real life, what brings a total unbalance for the REAL EVE world.
There's the other side to this - those people that have rl jobs and spend all day working hard to pay for rent, food and PC upgrades so don't have time to work hard mining/missioning/plexing/marketing/scamming all day in Eve. Now they can also have a way to keep up and afford those new expensive ships/mods.
People that do have more spare time to play and don't/can't work for whatever reason and therefore do have tight budgets can still play as they have the option of using their ingame hard earned isk to pay for their game time. The rl and in game economies both benefit.
I can see your point tho ... maybe a limit on the number of GTCs someone can sell in game in fixed period (tho people with lots of $$ to donate to CCP could just have multiple accounts to sell with). CCP prob doesn't mind either way as it's all good money in their bank to hire new staff, buy new equipment etc.
At the end of the day even if I had $1mil (I wish I did!) to buy isk and then buy anything I needed in game it wouldn't make me a better pilot than someone who had had the luxary of time and experience actually playing Eve and therefore knows how things work and gained a better feel for the environment. They are going to get the best of me in a fight no matter how easy it is for me compared to them to replace what I'd lose.

Taken from the topic of the new system:
"Q) I want to buy a card now but use it on a different account later! How can I? A) There is no need. Buy the code later with the other account."
What you're saying here is more than is what's written. You're using this as a blanket statement as to why we can't "bank" codes and won't give us a way to "bank" them on our accounts. I don't want to resell, I don't want to convert isk to USD$, I want to choose when to use them.
Imagine it like this:
When you go to the market and see a sale on canned food, does the cashier tell you that you can only buy it now if you eat it in front of them; all of it?
I should hope not. So right now, if my account runs out and the price of ETC rises to 175mil per 30 day card, you're forcing me to pay that instead of a price that I may have seen between now and then. Say there was someone selling for 110mil, you would therefor have forced me to pay 65mil more for that same item, just because you didn't want to add an option allowing me to activate the code whenever I want.
In this scenario, the non-perishable food in the can is "activated" by me using the can opener, instead of the cashier peeling off the lid as she scans the bar code.
You see where I'm getting at now? I want to either be able to buy low when the market is slumped, and I want to be able to take a break when I want to rather than CCP telling me that it has to be used now.
I don't know about you, but I have more than one can of food in my cupboard that has been in there for 3 months or more. Is it still good? You bet! It's as good now as it was when I bought it. Same with ETC. In 3 months that same card will still give me 30 days of time.
I'd love to hear the logic you have to refute this... I have a great sig that I was once proud of. After much moderation, I've found the world will never see it again. |

Just a question. I had bought a GTC through the secure System. But as it says , u dont need to , log into the GAME for the link to accept it as IT should APPEAR automatically , PROVIDED a person has DONE the order in the Account Management , Selection , so i was trying to see if it workled without loggin intot he game , but i dint get the link or the Option to accept thru the account managemt. , but when i loggerd in to the Game and saw the mail , it and clicked the link to accpet it worked. , i was wondering if ther eis a delay through the , offline method or how long will we have to wait until the , Option appears onto the , account mangement. I sold someone a GTC their isk went down and time was added to their account, but I never got any isk. I know he had over 1 bil isk, and I know there's a problem with buyers who have over 1 bil isk. I just can't find anything that tells how to solve it.

It isn't possible to create a forum only for GTC ?
Because the sell Orders forum is spam by GTC Sellers

I request GTC sales to be move to a different forum subject.
I hate when my sales that can last for days are been bumped in a matter of minutes by multiples GTC sales that usually take less then an hour to be completed.
I doesn't make sense to put them in the same forum.
Moving GTC sale in another forum subject is really easy.
It would reduce numbers of bumps, make sales faster and easyer to browse trough. And by the same way reduce server space needs.

I will be better to set in the contracts option like "selling gtc" or something like that. then some one want to sel gtc, he enter gt code, then it will be checked and only after that it(contract)can be confirmed. then buyer confirm it, the gt code appear in this contract. for example 3 options for gtc(auction, item exchange and personal contract).
it will be great, if the CCP make GTC-trade like that. no scammers and без гемора(so easy to use).

why don't they also just add a buy isk, direct from them feature too...

I believe it is more to prevent the idea of 'cashing out' when a player leaves the game. With the GTC <==> ISK trade both players need to continue playing to make use of their purchase.
As for a player buffing up his toon with rl $$$, recent dev posts suggest they are working to eliminate that in the upcomming changes to the GTC for ISK system.

eBay does ban the sale of game items, but I don't think selling time codes qualifies as 'game items'. They don't allow selling ships or other in game materials, but time codes are just codes. It's like buying someone's e-mail address. You are just selling the code, not a game item. But I could be (and have been) wrong.

Why don't you take it a step further, and have those people wanting to buy time cards sogn up through the my account page with their offer in ISK, and have a drop down with people and offers right there for the people selling. YOu can escrow the ISK from the buyer to cut down on greifers and still allow a 48 or 72 hour acceptance

If you say so, though i put a GTC up for sale and got the price i wanted very quickly so the demand is there, if you dont like the price being asked for either dont buy or post a want thread for th eprice you want and see if anyone takes you up on it.
Just because you got it cheaper in the past doesnt mean its always going to be like that, why should ccp cap it? I tell you one thiong, if ccp were to enforce a max price per day on GTC's, more people would turn to other sources of 'buying' isk.

You can't use time already on your account to sell to someone else. You need to visit an ETC retailer and purchase the code (for real money using paypal or something like it). They then send you the timecode which is a string of numbers/letters.
when you select the sell TC securely, it asks you for what character is selling the GTC (which will receive the ISK), and the name of the account that must receive it. It also asks for the code itself. When the buyer accepts the transaction, it adds the code to his account automatically, and extends the time to play for that account. The ISK is then transferred from his character and sent to you.

Edited by: Akira Ishigaru on 17/07/2007 13:15:22 What if the secure GTC trade is bugged? I just sold to a player ingame who responded from a post of mine on the forums, while I did accidently typed in 170 isk instead 170 million isk, there seems to be a problem with the isk transfer. I got only 170 isk, while the player claimed his character actually lost 170 million isk. So he can't even reimburse me the intended amount even if he wants to... I petitioned using email petition, but not sure that's the right place to do it however. Can CCP verify any of these transactions or set things right?

He purchases one with real money, gets his "buyer" to complete some sort of offer (external to eve) which then profits my friend more money than he paid for the timecode. He then gives the timecode to the "buyer" for a price of 10 isk. Is there anything illegal/against the eve eula/tos about this? if not, I might look into this for myself.

I, too, am interested in this process...
I currently have a trial account, and am curious to know if purchasing a GTC this way will simply extend my trail by 30 days, or will it upgrade me to a full game account, with the 30 days added onto my current remaining time (11 days)?
I have access to ISK ingame (via friends), but do not wish to purchase a subscription via credit card.
Thanks.

I think it's worth it to point out again that if you sell unsecure, and the player gets banned for ISK violations, then the GM will remove the sale ISK from your account. This happened to me yesterday, a full 10 days after someone talked me into a non-secure transaction. Now I'm out 410M, which is a lot of ISK for me.

If you sell to someone unsecure who have aquired isk in breaching the eula(buying em etc). gm will take away the sellers isk as well..

Everything allright. But I cant see how much ISKs have my char on expired acc. So how can I extend my acc with secure system? It should appear, that my char havent sufficient fund. To correct it EVE client have to open introduced window with all characters, where this information provided, or make it in some different way.

Hi, I was thinking of getting into this type of trading. Does it not work like the above? If I were to buy a ETC, via the official method, is it automatically applied to my account? I would want to be able to resell it.

No.. You can go straight to a full account by using a timecode, but I'm not sure if a trial account can be set up to buy a timecode ingame... I have started all of my account with $14.95 game time codes, though.

there should be something posting in the "Secure GTC 101 thread" about selling/buying policies and farmers. if you sell to/buy from someone with a list of names like "bdella, cevitamic acid, dabble at" or "asdlkj38, uiower12" who are probably farmers, then what happens? are you supposed to investigate them before the transaction? how are you supposed to really know?

If you can't access the forums with an expired account... how are you supposed to post that you want to buy someone's GTC?

FFS people do not trust CCP secure trade system as they have just done a "permaban" on my main toons and said i have been buying from an isk seller and illegally selling etc's Hoever, i have been selling cards via secure trade. I have a log list on eve secure trade, of how bought the cards and all the repiepts from their partent site where i bought the cards from. I have of course pititioned this, but in the usual CCP way i will hear nothing. To give some idea they have taken 8.85bil from me and also the several hundred of GBP's I have spent of my own money buying the etc's. At present I am writing to my solicitor with the intention of sueing CCP as this time they have gone way to far. For the record I have not knowingly sold to isk sellers, but if their system is so good then shouldnt it filter them out???? or we wxpected to have crystal balls to be able to for foretell.
It seems to me as eve (CCP) want to **** people off.
And to you CCP Wrangler (or who ever the damn moderator is)leave this post on, if you as a company are honest you will leave this on for all to see!#

most curious about step 2, do i have to wait to receive the actual card in the mail?

for those who are asking how to post for code if your account is inactive, you just create a trial account and ask for GTC and state the name of your char that has the isk to receive the GTC and then you go into the account management page and accept the GTC transfert. -Cividan

You can buy cards (they're actually just the codes) from several different websites. You buy the card online and they will send you an e-mail with the codes for you to do what you want with.

I have been reading this post and i think i know why the code automaticly get applyed.
option 1: leave the code active durring the sell, then then the seller could use before you could.
option 2: disable the code for the sell, when sell is complete enable and apply it to the buyers account:
option 3: dispable the code for the sell, when the sell is complete enable ( note this allows option one to take affect).
Just my seeing.

I would like a little clarification on time cards. Once purchased they must be used within 48 hours correct? (if so thats not real fair, that would mean you only have a 48 hour window to hope a GTC goes up for sale for a good price) it would not matter if someone was selling cards below market value three days before. Because correct me if I'm wrong but you would need to wait till just before your account expires to buy the card or risk loosing days due to time overlap? What if someone purchases two 90 day cards? will they have 180days or will the second one over wright the first and be left with only 90 days? or does that only happen when switching payment types? can I buy a card (low) and then resell it (higher)? would be nice to explain how switching payment types (such as from CC to GTC) affects unused time, does it get lost, and the new time start the day you switch? Or does it work differently than that?

I may be wrong, but most games ToS/EULA allow them to cancel your account at ANY time for ANY reason, and furthermore, when agreeing to it you agree that you will not take legal action against the said company. So good luck with it...
If you are really upset at them go and find another game to play, Im not saying that you have done anything wrong, but they dont get these things wrong as often as people say they do, and if they cant find proof, or you show proof that you havent done anything wrong, they will usually reverse it.

I dont believe this is correct, it says that you put in a characters name that you wish to sell to (ie: someone you have organised in game to sell to or over the forums) and then it(the offer) is valid for 48hours, if they dont accept it it is cancelled and you can resell the code to someone else.
For all these people coming up with why cant I pay with one account and put it on another etc... this creates too many ways people can make mistakes or defraud the system, simply put, give the character the money that you wish to purchase the GTC with.... it takes all of 2 sec, and give that characters name to the person who is selling the GTC to you... If that account isnt activated, then you SHOULDNT be using cash in that account as the account cannot be used until you pay for it... including any cash/ships or whatever is in it..

GTC seller beware.
Scamers are using CCP GM's as a tool to scam you.
I was contacted by a player named Pokaler that wanted a GTC unsecurely, he preemptively sent me the isk for a GTC, I sent it back at once and insisted I would only sell a GTC securely.
8 hours later a GM removes more isk from my wallet, without contacting me in any way shape or form, I was scamed with CCP falling bait to it as well.

I think it would be a good idea to have a similar buy/sell engine for the buying and selling of etc's and gtc's within your account login, away from the forums and issues, there are a lot of peeps bagging the sellers of gtc's in this forum I be leave it would work well if you could sell gtcÆs in an engine same as you would buy/sell items in etc/gtc would become inactive until bought/sold or automatically closed when 3 months had passed, if automatically closed the sale would have to be placed again, the same as in game. Once sold the advert would be gone, keeping everything clean and simple Once you had bought it code would be made active for the character you bought it with and the time would be added to your current Remaining Playtime
1 to make is save as possible for the buyers and sellers who play eve and keeps everyone happy
2 ability access the Bazaar only through your account with the character you intend to purchase or sell the game time code with
3 Game time codes are inactive while they are in the Bazaar and activates when bought for the character you purchased the GTC with
4 your input to this idea?
5 convincing CCP to create it :)

Edited by: jcoutepascher on 28/02/2008 07:26:19 i have a question :
does GTC adds to your already purchased time , is there a time overlap ?
to reply to those comments i read : - those folks who got seized isk should try contacting a rep & or post on Youtube theire opinions.not just on this forum - CCP could introduce a consumable GTC for ingame trade ... - There should be a buy/sell DB in the GTC secure site to take it out of the forums.(since the forum is specificaly NOT designed for this purpose) - i think trade of this "comodity" should be anonymous (in the sens that there should be no discrimination when buying selling GTCs ) after all racism is what we whant to eliminate in real life why promote that in a game ! - this is good news as it enables players who like farming & dont have much to renew theire acount can keep playing (ok social argument excluded here) - play nice have fun ...
Edit: almost forgot to that person who think you can revoke your rights just by clicking Accept think again ! A clause that revoke a right is automaticaly dismissed as not valid. At least in all civilised countrys. A EULA is a contract & a contract CAN be not valid . Also even if it was if there is a prejudice done the judge/jurry can still pass the judgment in favor to the person suing

No problem, the codes don't expire. However, the actual cash prices don't increase, so you can buy them for resale at any time; you don't have to stock up on them now. The only exception might be if you want to buy & sell a very large quantity, in which case some of the GTC retailers may limit the number you can buy in a given period; then it would make sense to buy as many as you can now so you can sell them in bulk when you want to.
Just as an observation, although the average ISK value of the GTCs has decreased over the past few months, people are still paying above average for them even when there are sale offers right on the first page of the Bazaar for much less. At the moment, I've seen prices as low as 130M ISK for a 30-day code, whereas I've also seen people pay 180M ISK just recently. I'm not sure why, but the point being you can at least offer your codes for sale and wait for someone to buy them at the price; you don't have to hold on to them for some future date. Hope this helps.

The CCP swoops in and confiscates all of the buyer's ill gotted gains...(this has been happening alot! )
What happens to the ETC/GTC seller in this case? What happens to the money he/she obtained for the code? Are the sellers protected from this phenomena in any way?

Originally by: GM Krymus We have never reversed legitimate market orders. If someone purchases ISK and makes a legitimate trade with someone, then the ISK buyer has the ISK removed.
So they don't reverse legit transactions, and the secure trade is about as legit as you can get.

Hi I have a quick question. From reading the instructions on how to buy GTC I have to submit a name of a character to the seller to get the process underway. I have 2 accounts and would like to pay for both with GTC.
Do I have to log on each account and post using two diffrent characters (one from each account) to pay for both or could I just log in on one account and list two characters, one on each account?

I have a question that I may have missed being answered.
I have three accounts that I pay for. (Two miners-1 hauler/gunner) I tried a lot of items between them but am wanting to consolidate my isk for blueprints/research.
If I sell secure secure GTC's with one of my characters and divy the isk out is CCP going to check it out enough so that I dont' have to go through a whole, "Get my isk taken by the GM for transferring it to one of my other accounts" "Petition and pray to get it back"
I don't want to have to go through all of that trouble and fight. Anybody experience this?
Thanks,

Hi, I tried logging my alt in earlier and it's says "Account expired". I then try log in via the website with my alt's account and cannot log in.
I'm trying to buy a GTC so I can reactivate the account, my ALT has the ISK but I have no idea how I can log in to account to accept a GTC. I Cannot log into the account via the forum, nor can I access the game as account has expired.
Any ideas?
Thanks Charles

I think what should happen is that once the timecard is bought for ISK then the time goes into your "timebank" deactivates the timecode then you can trade the time (just like isk their will be an option give time). The time can be sold one day at a time to other people thus no longer needing a timecode. Then if someone wants to buy some time from me, and I have extra, then I can just click on their name or sell it on the market like any other item.
What CCP is trying to prevent is people trading ISK for timecards then reselling timecards on EBay. Then the timecards never get used but just traded for ISK. So then as an ISK seller all I need to do is trade ISK for timecards and then EBay the timecards for real cash. Then the price of timecards goes down a lot.

Do I really need to wait to get the GTC in the mail before I can sell it? Thats a somewhat rhetorical question, but honestly, can't you receive the time code electronically or do I have to wait for it to arrive in snailmail, then scratch to get the code, and then sell??

This is a real question.
Before some weeks i realized, that my EVE-Wallet is with 260mill isk in negative. I checked the transactions and realized that two characters got three times 100mill ISK from my wallet marked as an GM-Money Transfer. I dont know hw this could happen cause i pay my eve-time via PayPal and not buying or selling Play-Time-Cards(i dont know them, just heard of them). I never sold anything in EVE for real money. No ingame-items, no characters, no ISK. CCP is answering my questions every time with the same comments: Sorry about your problems. In short: Selling isk for real money or buying game-time for isk is dangerous. Good luck. Anyone had heard of problems like that? Any hints. Do i have to quit with EVE just because communicationproblems?
Thx,
Motoer. |

I received an email that stated that there was a way to purchase a GTC that CCP would actually get credit for or that the $$ would actually go to CCP. I have seen here online that people are able to sell GTCs for ISK. Now that I am looking for those types of GTCs here on the forums, I don't see them. I was sceptical at first because I want the authors of the game that I play to get the $$, not some off-world organization. After reading the posts again, am not sure that this is possible. Am I lost? Probably.

You cannot post on forums, you cannot contact the seller. What is there to do?
And why are you not allowed to store 1 timecode as backup ?

Guide to using game time codes
If you have a code on hands, go to my account and look for option to reactivate by applying GTC - you'll just need to type it in and click ok and your account will become active. If you want to buy a GTC with ISK you will need to transfer the required ISK to the character on inactive account, ask a seller to set up a sell order to that char, then log in to its account using this site. Even if account is inactive you can still log into it to subscribe.

Afaik yes. Instead of setting it up as a sale for 0 ISK, by the way, you can just email the code to him and he can apply it himself when he wants to.

Didn't see this mentioned in my scan through the posts, sorry if it has been answered. If I buy a GTC in game for isk, from a GTC reseller, does it "start up" or add to my subscribed time from when my paid-for-by-creditcard subscription time expires, or does it start immediately when the transaction is done? In other words, if I still have, say, 3 days of time left on account when I get GTC code in game, will I lose those 3 days? Thanks.

You do not lose any of the days left on your account. It just adds up to whatever time you still have plus the time you purchased.

So after reading as many posts as i could handle I have yet to see anyone answer this question.
Can you in some way activate a dormant account with a GTC bought with ISK via this secure procedure.
I have my main account which I want to purchase a GTC for a inactive second account to activate it...any way of doing this? or am I SOL. Thanks If you melt dry ice can you swim in it and not get wet? |

Worked for me about 30 days ago, but at these current isk prices I'll be SOL doing it again. I just don't earn enough isk playing.
I saw a post somewhere on the forums that explained it for me? You have to have enough money in the inactive account to pay for it though! (Not sure you can give money to inactive accounts?) Once they send you the offer you can log in under My Account and you will have a new option to accept it (forget which menu it was under)...but it works...or did a month ago.

To clarify, yes, you give the ISK to a character on the inactive account. When you make the trade, make sure the seller makes the offer to the inactive character.

You have to accept the trade on the web site, on the My Account page on the account you want to apply the time to. So, in-game send the ISK from your active account to your inactive account. Then, have someone sell a GTC to your inactive account. Last, go to the My Account page on the inactive account and accept the trade.

You will always be able to login to your account management page whether your account has expired or not. Thus, if you arrange through the forums to purchase a GTC for a character, and the seller says "I have sent you the GTC" - at this point you log into the secure site and accept the GTC, no need for in game action whatsoever!
Q) What if my expired account doesn't have the required funds in their wallet? A) This will not prevent you from transferring funds in from another account, at which point purchasing the GTC should not be an issue.
Q) What if I want to buy a card for a friend? I can't purchase the code and send it to him as it's automatically applied! A) Send your friend the ISK and let them do it themselves.
Q) Can a trial account use this service? A) Yes, all you need to do is make sure the character has the required isk. You then log into the account management page to complete the trade.
Q) I want to buy a card now but use it on a different account later! How can I? A) There is no need. Buy the code later with the other account.

Is there any way that you can purchase a GTC from a player with isk and use it to reactivate an account that has gone inactive with this new system through CCP ?

I don't believe it is possible to give a Pilot License Extension (in game GTC) to an inactive account.

If you are selling a timecode for 500m isk you would format it as such.
500000000
no commas, periods. or isk "cents".
You get to confirm the amount on the next page and it will come up as 500,000,000.00 so that you know the amount is 500m.

I don't believe it is possible to give a Pilot License Extension (in game GTC) to an inactive account.
GTC's (game time cards) and in game pilots licenses (PLEX) are two different fish.
A GTC can ALWAYS be used to activate an expired account by going to THIS PAGE and entering the code from your GTC. Doing this will add time to your account.

In other words, if I still have, say, 3 days of time left on account when I get GTC code in game, will I lose those 3 days? Thanks.
You do not lose any of the days left on your account. It just adds up to whatever time you still have plus the time you purchased.
Quick question: does this also mean that once the GTC time runs out, it will automatically switch back to charging the credit card? Thanks.

You won't be able to use one of the PLEX codes since that person can't log in. The options you do have are: Buy her a timecode and let her use it to activate the account, send her character enough isk to buy one through the time code bazaar (secure exchange), or just pay for a month yourself with a disposable credit card number.

Why would they do that? They have an infinite supply of isk, and (I imagine) are happy with recieving cash for them as opposed to isk.

OK, is there some more details about the PLEX cards? Something more than the trial and error reports I'm reading? Because now I've got two PLEX cards, I cannot move them from the station, cannot make them back into a GTC, and where they're at doubt anyone will buy them on contracts. In effect, since I cannot find anywhere in here make mention that PLEX cards cannot be transported from the station that you're at when you make them, what the hell am I supposed to do now? ------------------------------------------------

The 30-day renewable license pioneered by CONCORD is an alternative to its pod pilot contract license. Pilots on this new renewal scheme can purchase license extensions for ISK and thereby forgo the need for a contract altogether.
This item extends your gametime by 30 days when activated. It cannot leave stations but can be traded on the market and through contracts, except via courier.

60day GTC prices are up to 600-650mil isk now, thats about the double of the price it used to cost a year ago !!! It seems like people will buy em at just about any cost as they just put em back up for sale at a higher rate. When will this crazy inflation stop and what safety mechanism is there to prevent the GTC-market from simply collapsing because of this over-the-top overpricing-race?

I am mostly a High Sec Player. According to the last economic report from CCP 70% of all players play in High Sec. I used to pay 150 to 180 Mil Isk for a 30 day time card. 90 day GTC were going between 350 t 380 mil Isk. There were no 60 day time cards. I began buying Isk for f first one, then two characters. CCP was happy as they were still getting paid for both of my accounts because somene bought the GTC code from CCP and then sold them to me. Every body wins.
The Average Eve player plays 2.5 hrs a day according to CCP. Some of US don't have a life. I played a lot longer then that. I worked at it and got three then 4 characters going. It made it easier for me to mine ore or Ice. Eve was fun for me because I could do what I wanted to do in the game. I did this without macro mining.
As prices on Eve GTC went up to the 500 Mil isk amount the game started to feel like more work then play. 4 accounts is 2 Billion Isk needed by a high Sec Player to accumlate. I have since dropped two accounts just could not do it. I need to make 1 billion Isk every 2 months to keep going at this point. Prices climb higher and higher by by GTC Sellers. I am looking at current Prices at 650 mil Isk The Prices look like its going to hit 700 mil Isk by the end of the year.
I am going to put out a Buy order for a GTC at 600 Isk I only have 700 Isk and I need to buy a Skill book and a few Mods. If I go less then 600 I know that there is little chance that I will get one.
I have bought my last GTC code from Shattered Crystal direct for my main character. I'm not going to pay the 32 Mil isk isk on my Raven so will stop doing missions. I am not going to be able to buy the parts to make the ships and the mods I usually make for others to buy on the market. Profit on Eve Market for that matter have been down as well. Friends I use t play with are leaving the game because the GTC codes are breaking them. It is the only way some of them can play because of the real world economy.
When a game starts to feel more like work to play then it is no longer a game. At todays GTC prices to play my four characters it would cost me 2.6 Billion Not Million Isk to play, up form 1.2 billion. Thats a lot of Isk for a high Sec Player t make. Think about it.

Edited by: Belt Runner on 05/12/2008 17:32:20 Hey Someone sold me a GTC for 600 Mil Isk for my Alt account. Decided to for go the training I wanted to do. I need to buy some parts to make some tech 2 mods. Got to start mining soon after that to make mre ships. Need to make that 1.2 billion Isk so I can keep playing the game. If I can't then when this billing cycle is over that will be the end for me. Hey thats 59 days from now. Times a ticking. I need to get to work, I mean play. errrrr well you know what I mean.
You GTC Sellers are like the Free Short Term Traders on the US Stock Market. Your going to kill it in the long run.
CCP - IMHO you need to rethink the 30 and 90 day time cards. Offer all 3. You need to consider suggesting the MSRP - Manufacture's Suggested Retail Price for GTCs. The Eve market is depressed. Items are not selling for what they use to sell for.
Thats my 2 isk worth.
---------------------------
I just looked at the market - People are selling and buying at 600 mil isk. Its amazing.

An alternative option to GTC trades has been introduced in the form of converting GTCs to pilot licences ingame.
The option for the safe and secure exchange of EVE Game Time Codes for EVE Online ISK is still available in account management page.
Please Note: You must purchase an EVE Game Time Code through one of the normal outlets in order to sell the Time Code.
An alternative option to GTC trades has been introduced in the form of converting GTCs to pilot licences ingame.
What is considered "one of the normal outlets"? Thanks.

Soon there won't be any ISK-Resellers left. Noone else can pull out ÇÇÇ out of the game expect CPP.
Btw, ISK -> GTC cost ist fully Player-Made. Always remeber this. CPP is NOT selling GTCs for ISK.

That is your prerogative of course, but please remember it is a free market, and sometimes it suffers under the rules of "supply and demand".
If no player were willing to pay more than 400M isk for a GTC, then the prices would get towards that level relatively quickly, but there will always be those that are willing to pay a little more than the rest in order to ensure a successful acquisition.

Please Note: You must purchase an EVE Game Time Code through one of the normal outlets in order to sell the Time Code.
An alternative option to GTC trades has been introduced in the form of converting GTCs to pilot licences ingame.
How about thos who uses automated creditcar services? If they buy a code for ISK......are their normal payment then halted until the code runs out and then returns to the normal plan afterwards?

In the same place where you made the sell.
After you made the sell, while the orders in pendent to be accept, you have a option CANCEL, if you cancel the status pass to cancelled.
And you can use again the same code to another sell.

I've looked through everything I can find on the subject, but I still have a question I can't seem to find the answer to. Is it actually possible to purchase a GTC from another player on the forums, then convert this into a PLEX ingame? From what I've read, when you buy a GTC from another player on the forums, the time is directly credited to your account. From this, I'm assuming you don't actually get the code itself. From the stickies on making PLEXs, apparently you have to enter the code itself.
Would I be correct in assuming I can't actually purchase a GTC on the forums and then go on to convert that into a PLEX? Thanks for any feedback.

So let's say I want to sell one, how do I input the amount of ISK I want?
Like, 600,000,000 or 600000000 or 600m?
Sorry if that's a noobish question.

Edited by: WARTECH ASSASSIN on 13/01/2009 07:33:45 Please clarify:
PLEXes are in-game items. Do you allow contract scams involving PLEXes? Or is it not allowed, as ETC scams are not tolerated.
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=792862 by GM Grimmi:
Quote: I just wanted to let everyone know that we will not tolerate any kind of scamming in regards to ETC trading and action will be taken against those found involved in such activity.
With the PLEX being an in-game item, there is a confusion that a PLEX is no longer an ETC trade. Is this correct? With the proliferation of PLEX contract scams now in the game, is this an indication that PLEX scams are allowed?
Thank you.
