Not a single whine/rant/thread on the loss of the old camera on May 31st... wow...
Is the grief cycle over? Are we past acceptance? If so, cool beans.
I'm amazed at the restraint shown in General Discussion...

The ppl who care just haven't noticed or heard yet. Just like they didn't notice when it was first added. Just like they brushed it off when it turned on by default and they disabled it. Some ppl are still in denial that the old camera will ever be removed and undoubtedly when it happens they'll be shocked and complain that they were never warned. Just wait until June then check forums again.
All that said the new camera is really just fine with all the improvements they've made to it so long as you set the options the way you like. Though I'd be curious just what percentage of ppl change the settings to mimic the old camera as much as possible. If it's really high it makes you wonder why the new "features" were added to begin with and why CCP didn't just do their best to mimic the old camera right out of the box. They supposedly want to reduce options and menu clutter yet add things that ppl demand options to essentially disable.

I am using new camera.
Isnt so bad if you turn off every "improvement" and slightly push the inertia to stiff.
But I would push all those 3 different camera buttons into one, like with scanner. When you would choose the camera, it would then automatically change the icon showed there.

yeah, cos they unfucked it, that said wait till they actually remove it.
i guarantee you a horde of wailing and gnashing of teeth because it was taken away without warning and with no discussion. just you wait , start stockpiling themed giffs for it now if you are clever .

Well, there goes the tracking camera and right-click panning. Gonna miss the classic system.
Not really hating on CCP for it though; the did give us more time, I just wish they weren't so stubborn about pushing features that are replacements rather than alternatives.
Anyways, thanks for the heads-up.

I'm amazed at the restraint shown in General Discussion... What to "disscuss" about? They must change camera because of new carrier mechanics and bigger grids. Old camera was functional, new camera is anoying and almost as functional as old. Meh change, nothing to rant here.

the right click pan is going though.

The new camera is fine, you can customize it plentiful to your taste, so this shouldn't even be an issue. Adapt or die.

Right click paning is in fact replaced with tactical camera and it is a lot of freedom to pan around. As I am using it more for screenshoots than anything else. I think its improvement.

RMB panning will be implemented on the tracking camera. It was a glitch/oversight and is live on sisi now.

Do they plan on adding a way to re-position the new camera's tracking mode so that it doesn't hide the object being focused on behind my ship?
I know it seems like a weird thing, but the ONLY real issues I have with the new camera so far is the aforementioned lack of control on the tracking camera and no right-click panning. Well, that and the fact that, on the one hand, zooming in and out is awkwardly sluggish close in yet, on the other hand, overly exaggerated only a little ways further out: Why does everything have a falloff mechanic now, CCP? These are admittedly mere pet peeves of mine and hardly game breaking. It just the matter of that I actually use those systems quite a bit and have gotten use to them being there, so not having them work that way is rather alien.
Even if they didn't fix or improve any of these "issues", I'd still be fine using the new camera, it would just take a while for me to get use to those oddities is all. Though, agreed, most complaints after the fact will likely be largely people ranting on the reasoning that there's no choice in the matter now. Eve is very big on obtaining a sort of muscle memory with things, so when something like changes that require someone to re-familiarize with something, it tends to feel like a lot of personal hard work just got flushed.
On the other hand, though, no one should ever expect Eve to remain alive if things don't get altered and constantly changed, so it is inevitable that that familiarity will need to be constantly renewed, hence all the "tough love" comments encouraging people to adapt and overcome rather than simply complain and expect selfless demands for game design to go a certain desired way. It's a necessary evil, just like ships and other assets need to die to keep the market going. Somewhere, someone is having a bad day for it, but that keeps the economy in Eve rolling.
Btw, sorry for the wall...I tend to be chatty at times.
