You still have to manage to get a warp off or your dread will also be 2000 km away from the target...
The whole damn thing looks like it was tacked on with a little bit of extra duct tape for it to hold together. Like they were done doing the capital rebalance and noticed carrier were in a somewhat bad spot and instead of going back to the drawing board to put carrier into a better spot, they added a gimmick module to give carrier a niche where they would be useful and made that niche really powerful so people could say their state in fleet fight is "ok" because they are dominant in gate camping. Who though it was a good idea to create a module that let a carrier lock a frigate in less than 3 second for example? What was the line of though that generated this module? |

I give the carrier pilot that thought this one up major kudos. It's not much different than an 'in port' Carrier adding to port defense or CAP strength. They could constantly refill their fighter squadron strength from the Citadel too. Not a bad idea at all, great Citadel defense and gate defense.
Look, CCP will make some adjustments to all this. It's okay to make your points about it but the defense is actually fairly easy as well until CCP makes their adjustments (and I'm assuming they'll be pretty small).
If you're in Null Sec and suspect a Carrier is on the other side, hit your AOE ECM module when you jump out and verify incoming fighters. Then go on your merry way. If you want to be nice, leave a cargo pod on the other side of the gate warning others of the Carrier camp at the other end of the jump gate.
Then 10 guys can show up and wipe out the Carrier, but if on a Citadel, an Alliance can do the same and put the Citadel into reinforcement and take out the Carrier.

Right, because everyone has a "******* dread" to jump in. Newer players are told to jump into frigates/cruisers and roam lowsec to get PvP experience. Told you might die a lot, but at least you'll learn.
What does getting instapopped with literally zero chance of learning game mechanics do to help? Right...forget doing it yourself, wait until you're in a group that regularly flies dreads. That sure helps the game! |
