Hi there!
Everybody keeps saying, that an AF should always go with an AB, never a MWD. I know it has something to do with the already big signature of the AF i comparison to an Interceptor.
On the other hand, AF are seen as PVE ships because of "weaker than ships of the same velocity (cruisers), but slower than ships of the same size (frigates)". So wouldn't an AF with a MWD and maybe a Nano or two be a viable idea?

AF usually need some sort of tank since their speed even with MWD on sucks, and mwd cap penalty and grid requirements severely limit your options. Thus, afterburner.

AB for PvE MWD for PvP (unless in a complex)
There are sitations in PvP in which an AB may be more useful than MWD, mainly keeping your speed up while saving cap, but MWD is far more useful and greatly increases your ship survivability.

Even for PvP you should make a choice.
MWD if a tackling AF.
AB if an anti-support AF.
No, they arent great at solo PvP, a cruiser is still best.

Even with an MWD on, you wont approach interceptor speeds without going with a nano setup and no tank. Generally, AFs are designed to just plod along and take an enormous amount of damage for their size. About the only AF id put an MWD on is a blaster enyo or nano ishkur.

Also, you have precious little cap as it as, and your ship class is designed to tank, making what cap you have even more essential. ------------------- My opinions (ie, all of my posting here) are not my corporations. Nor should it be taken as such.

Jaguar with MWD, passive ShieldTank and ACs is pure evil
So yes, there are some AFs, which work great with an MWD .

I wouldn't leave home without my MWD on my ishkur. I like to be able to run when I get in over my head, and I love to control the range of the engagement.
I tried to fight a shark with a pistol underwater once, and I'll be damned if he didn't laugh at me and eat me. Sharks need a ******* nerf. True story.

With the exception of the retribution, because why wouldn't you fit a MWD? ----
