fron the EVE tribune : Now onto something with consequences for everyone. The Tech2 BPO lottery is being changed. For one, it’s going to be killed. No more. None. In the next six months, every last remaining BPO will be given to players, and the lottery closed down.
CCP seems to want all new T2 production to come from invention that’s available to all. Interfaces will be tweaked again for a suitable drop rate, and some types of new gear will be inventible. All of the existing BPOs will remain so for some time, until after a few months when Invention stabilizes, they’ll be converted into long-run BPCs instead.
Perhaps this’ll finally break the price cartels controlling many crucial tech 2 items, such as the Covert Ops II Cloaking Device or Invulnerability Field II. I say it’s about damn time I don’t have to pay 250 million ISK for a HAC that costs barely 20 mil to make. -------------------------------------
so is this confirmed ? or speculating ?
please CCP give us information and dont let the alliances with insider contacts gain the upper hand again

Edited by: Taedrin on 28/02/2007 14:36:13 Why convert T2 BPOs into BPCs? The only reason I can see to do this would be to make invention more profitable as it is the BPOs that make it easiest to produce T2 gear/ships cheaply...

Looks like something should visit the information portal section and read dev blogs.

One blog, and 25 pages of more or less constructives posts.
I haven't heard anything form CCP about converting T2 bpos into Bpcs, so Eve tribune might be wrong on that... ------------------------------------------ Every ship has a base 60-70% resist against the primary damage type of the race that is the least able to vary it's damage types. |

How do you try invention on barges? both exhumers and strip miner IIs do not appear to have criteria for attempting invention. Is there some way this can be done - since modulated strip miner IIs have become insanely overpriced.
And another point - why leave the techII BPOs in circulation at all - change them immediately to maximum run BPCs. Since I don't have any I don't care

I believe that the devs have stated that they will not change BPO's into BPC as it will be hard to balance the value of each BPO and the relevent number of run on the BPC when you compare with other tech2 BPO's. I think the plan is for normal BPO destruction (ships carrying them going boom banned/left accounts etc) to deal with them long term.

CCP hasnt said that there will never be more T2 BPOs. CCP hasnt said that they will remove existing T2 BPOs.
In the same post you whine about high prices yet want to lessen supply. Think before posting.
The infamous 'cartels' are only claimed to be in existance by people that are outside of the T2 manufacturing scene, because everyone with any actual idea knows better.

I highly doubt the devs would turn everything over instantly to invention when they already know it is not working right at the moment. These changes will come in as Invention gets fixed. Have faith people, or like it says in the thread title, 'trust'. ------

Then please enlighten us why a CovOps Cloak is now 80 mil, and also give us some insight in to what happened to the 1mn MWD II (before invention). Want more examples? Cap Recharger II before invention?
Cartels DO exist (why shouldn't they - I would do the same if I had the chance), it's a bit silly to deny that.
Not everything the OP states is nonsense, so no need to get rude.

Current Tech 2 BPOs will certainly not be removed. There are more than 10.000 out there, far from all of them being something really sought after. However, it's certainly worth investigating turning them into very high run BPCs like was done with the old Infinite copies but I'd say that the ability to work with them more (research etc.) would be an absolute prerequisite before doing anything like that.
They haven't said they won't either

There is nothing wrong with the market. Some just dont get their trading-PvP right to break the cartels.
And yes, I need Tech II stuff to be even more expensive, cause sensible people are therefore buying products of my tech I BPO's.
So start buying those Tech II products and resell them at 4x the prices and watch your Tech I alternatives sell better and the real idiots with waaaay too much ISK buy the overpriced tech II stuff. (you only need to sell 1 out of 4 to get break-even!)
