So in essence you want to protect the rich????
I am sry I don't mean to flame but this idea sir started out good but floped at the end. Now I can't speak for most pirates but as a pirate my wallet has never seen more than 500mil...ever. That being said it is not fair that gankee A places a bil bounty on my head then I get podded and have no isk due to for the sake of argument a -500mil account. What if I only has 100mil and the same happens. I have only ever seen a bil in my wallet once in over two years of playing. How would I buy more ships...hell i would not even be able to afford a shuttle to pirate in. Cause even with a shuttle I would pirate somehow....any ways if I had to make up a -900mil account I would just cansel my account and never play EVE again. Now I am sure that is what some of the converted WOW players would want I am sure that CCP would not want X number of players to quit. Nice try sir but it needs revision.

Edited by: Arekhon on 01/03/2007 02:24:07 Borasao:So you're arguing about a situation where you used might to enforce your will on someone else (you ganked them with firepower) and they used their might (their money) to give you grief? Sorry, too bad. Maybe you should be more careful about who you gank.
..I'm sorry but this argumanet holds no water my friend....yes I did enforce my will upon someone but they knew or know full well the dangers of lowsec space...I am below -9 so I am stuck here..they can go where they please...they should be more careful of where they fly. Pirates own lowsec, by way of frequency not soverienty. All in EVE should know this.
Then you need to be a better pirate Good pirates can make lots of money. What you describe is exactly my point. Yes, you get a negative account balance. Can't buy a new ship to pirate in? Better hit the missions or get friends to loan you ships.
To this I will say....come meet me in Amamake, I'll show you how good I/We are....bring your best ship plz. My corp cleard 1.2bil in loot in a week of pirating. However since priacy in our corp is a team effort that income is split between those active on kills and the corp fund. As to mission running to make isk..I used to be a carebear before my 1st kill. CCp ensures that pilots can play eve in whatever way they see fit...I do not like to grind missions or mine..or mooch off friends for that matter. So why should I be forced to play that way??
Who said the life of a pirate should be easy? You want to be a pirate then you should be able to handle the negative implications. Right now, there are NO negative implications for gankbears.
Going below -5 is a HUGE negative impact on a player.Take away freedom of movement real quick..however all of us who are such have come to grips with that.Being red flashy as others have stated is bad enough as you can be aggresed anywhere anytime...like being in a permanent state of war.Just be gald we can't chase your ass into empire...thnx Privateers for picking up slack here
If you get a negative account, you shouldn't be able to buy anything until you get back positive. Get your friends or your corp to buy out your debt. Alternatively, run missions until you get positive again.
I already touched on this bvut I will add that with corp thieft on the rampage trust is a major issue...if you can find some friends that are willing to payout a -900mil bedt for someone then that is awsome...what if said player is brand new to the corp...he is on his own
By the way, my suggestion is serious but your reaction to this is EXACTLY the reaction carebears are having to the L4 mission nerf suggestions. How am I going to replace my ships that get ganked in lowsec when I try to do missions? What if I can't buy another ship? etc. Can I have your stuff?
What your aruguing is risk vs. reward for all, this I understand. You sound like though, what you want is to be untouchable while you chase your lvl4's in lowsec...where is the risk in that?? It is already hard enough to probe missions out in lowsec provided that is what we feel like doing..ie we rarely do.
P.S. You can have my stuff if you can pop me

to Hypatia Iola.....lol, sry about your loss...kinda
No seriously, I am not one of those pirate types because I am a di*k in RL. Quite the contrary...enough of that.
We do choose our tgts carefully tbh...it just so happens that when we choose a hauler there is not much risk. Now mind you I do not always fly such expensive ships but I lost a mrym about a month or so ago that set me back about 230mil or so. Risk in that ...HELL YEA...I had to fly a cruiser again for a bit..230mil hurts All the same with my Vagabond..talk about a buffet waiting to be popped man that thing is worth about 450mil and that is the cheap setup took me forever to save for that...Instead of puttin all your isk on bounties just buck up and hire some mercs....your money would be better spent that way..IMO
Also to Hypatia Iola...never underestimate frig piracy..it is uber fun

Originally by: Humpalot They'd often have scouts out that would see us coming a mile away and scatter.
Or they would see a pile of ships jump in at once and scatter before we were barely in the system.
Or they would be on sniper duty and no way we could get to them before they scattered.
Or they would be camping a station and dock when we'd come for them.
Yes we tried cloaked ships to sneak in and tackle and tried to sneak in people in little bits then pounce or lay bait ships and get them that way or came at them from several gates at once (and leave some force behind at the gates to get them trying to get out). Occasionally we nabbed one but most got away.
The advantage is clearly in the pirates court as they are the ones who get to decide when/what to attack and care little for their sec status (having the intiative is a huge advantage). Very, very few relish anything approaching a fair fight (fair enough).[/quote
Everything you said here can be completely reversed (read insert anti-pirate or other tgt)...in fact it kinda sounds like a night out on the town for us pirates....oh and we love fighting underhanded! Yet sadly it always seems to be this way...said anti-pie corp will bring omgblob number of ships and expect us to just submit to a fight. Take your blob antics back to 0.0 alliance space and bring a gang(less than 10) next time.
And for the advantage being in our court, that is just it....lowsec is OUR court. We know our AO very well.

Yea this makes alot of sense...I'll fly my recon or what have you small fast ship like 6 jumps into empire and then jump in my just purchased BC and simply jump back with out concord or faction police interference....RIGHT
I also love how much you use the term gankbear....great diversity there. Just because you have only ever been popped in haulers does not mean all pirates go for soft tgts. I am by no means a pro but I would venture to guess that no more than 10% of my kills are non combat ship kills. Heck I bet that would apply to my corp even.

I do sincerely apologize for utilizing the term "brother man" in the above post. I felt compelled to use it at least once in my lifetime. Now was that time.
lol...good stuff there.
Borasao.... I give you props for considering piracy to back up your arguments. Although I think that once you do , your opinions will change. Prolly not much but hey it may give you the perspective you need to fine tune your ideas. Best of luck....
