Hi folks,
I was asked to post a new topic here regarding the "Tranquility" - "SSL handshake failed" issue by CCP Explorer in another thread.
I opened bug report (EBR-68187) and help request 127803 in an effort to get it addressed. The error message in the log is:
08:58:56.452 debug Finished task "Index downloader for Tranquility" 08:58:56.452 error Couldn't get index for "Tranquility" - "SSL handshake failed" 08:58:56.452 warning Update failed for "Tranquility" with error: 2 08:58:56.452 error "tq" update failed with a download error 09:02:05.008 debug "Scheduling refresh after 2 minutes" 09:02:07.470 info LogViewer opened
I sent the log in with the bug report. It was closed with the following comment:
Hello.
We apologize for the delay in this response, but we are currently seeing a heavy load of incoming support tickets which has resulted in a slower response time than normal.
The new launcher is supposed to work on Windows 7 and above, it does, however, unfortunately not work on Window XP and earlier versions at all. You can find download links for all launcher versions in the following article of our help center as well:
Reinstalling the Launcher
As for the error in your logs, it appears that the launcher is unable to establish an HTTPs connection to our servers, which often is the result of a security application or firewall preventing the required certificate from being verified. As such, please check if adding the launcher to the exception lists of your firewall helps on this matter.

It probably goes without saying that turning off my firewall was one of the first things I tried.
Hope this can get resolved before June 30th...

Just something to have a quick look at: Go to https://binaries.eveonline.com/Doomsday_2560x1440.jpg in IE (mostly because IE is the system browser, and likely to have the same settings that the downloader would have)
Take a look at the certificate that's being used to serve the page. I'm seeing one from Entrust.
(Just in case there's something sitting as a man in the middle)
Woo! CSM XI!
