You got what you asked for, a wild unfunded answer. Nothing wrong with me, are you sure you asked the right question? I think he was talking about me.
I made the thread because I honestly didn't understand why that keeps being brought up every week or so. Not just here either. I see people bring that up on Reddit and even YouTube on occasion and I just don't understand why anyone would think that turning this game off and starting over from scratch would magically make everything better.
I guess the part I wasn't considering is what some of the people in this thread pointed out: people who see veterans as a threat would now be on "equal footing" with them based on everyone's SP being reset. Of course, that says nothing about knowing how to play the game - which is more important than SP - but that's just people's misconception of how the game actually works I guess.

Why does this whole thread feel like a troll thread?

Might I suggest a less antagonistic reason for people wanting EVE2 than I've seen so far here?
I can? Thanks.
Perhaps it's that there is over twelve years of code, much of it redundant and most of it sub par, causing all kinds of problems and making changes for the better nearly impossible. Perhaps people want a reboot to improve and modernize the game.
What I'm seeing in this thread is a bunch of old curmudgeons that fail to see the difference between reboot and reset. |

What I'm seeing in this thread is a bunch of old curmudgeons that fail to see the difference between reboot and reset. Well CCP is already going back and re-writing old code that's holding back new features. They've been doing that for years.

I'm not an old curmudgeon, I'm a new one!
A full re-write when you already have fully functioning code is an utter waste of time and money. I wish I could say that was opinion, but it's not. In the software world you need to have a darned good reason to start from scratch and re-code.
You fix bugs because bugs are just things that aren't working as designed. Could old code be causing those bugs, certainly, but if so you either prune it off, or fix it to have the right impact you are looking for in the game. You don't go, well, that old code there is stinky so let's just burn down the whole game and start from a blank slate again.
Whatever EVE 2.0 fans have in mind, it would have to be an entirely different game with an entirely different objective. Old code is not a goal or an obstacle, it's just code, no matter the year it was written in.
Framing comments, complaints and ideas into some EVE 2.0 matrix is nothing more than a way to disguise the negative feeling comment toward some aspect of the current game.
EVE is always changing there is no 2.0. There is build 10,234,2347.02.17-A2 though.
EVE is the way CCP wants it to be, we as players may provide content and tools and ideas, but it will always be CCP's game and the goals of that game are theirs to determine.

Yeah, CCP would NEVER decide to wipe out all progress from all players of one of their games, and then make them start anew on a PC instead of a PS3.... wait.... Yeah, that's the one flaw in that statement. They'll almost certainly never reset EVE, but to say they've never done so for any of their games is now inaccurate. I didn't say they've never done so. I said the idea is ludicrous. The fact they have doesn't stop it being ludicrous.

That doesn't mean the idea isn't ludicrous. It just shows you how idiotic CCP is. |
