Data Interface, check. I'm not including that in the cost, as it doesn't get used up.
Datacore - Electromagnetic Physics - 4.5m (lowest price) Datacore - Mechanical Engineering - 24m (lowest price)
Railgun IIs sell for a max of 500k.
So I'd have to try invention on a BPC with at least 60 copies to break even? And possibly lose it all, along with 30m?
Yes, you could get datacores with RP instead of buying them, but the prices reflect the difficulty of getting them.
Am I getting all this right? Is the risk really this high?

if you had the RP to get datacores it would be less effort for almost the same reward to just sell them ;p knowledge is power.... guard it well |

No, the risk is higher.
Without a decryptor the job will probably fail. Also to add a bit more to your odds throw in one "best named" 125mm railgun.
You need a max run bpc of the item you wish to invent but you will only get 14-19 runs if your job is sucessful.
There you go, I've just made it 4 times less worthwhile for you

Wow, Invention is FUN!
If I wanted to lose money that fast, I would just throw battleships at BoB.
IF the only realy money is in inventing ships and high-ticket items, what's the point of the regular data interfaces? Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels -Valorem ([email protected])

The point is to reduce the cost of fubar items such as covert ops cloaks, hacs and cap recharger t2 etc

Theres plenty of items out there that may or may not be worth inventing.
t2 nanos were worth inventing for a good while. Others are cap recharger II's, invuln field II's, cloaks and so on.
I even invented some t2 i/stabs and then realized best named one are better. Didnt stop me selling them for 20mill each

So is it worth using a copy of a BPO with more than 20 run on it, or is a maxed run BPO (what is max, anyway?) required to hit the 14-19 number? Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels -Valorem ([email protected])
