Good day to you! I have a few questions about carrying contraband aboard my vessel...
1) Will I be caught passing through hi-sec space if I place the items in a Secure Container inside my cargo hold? I'm sure this has already been thought of and tested. Any success?
2) Alternately, how does this process work exactly.. Is it time based? where-by the longer I remain near a gate the more likely it is I will be scanned?
3) Howabout ship size? If I am piloting a ship with a small sig radius/high agility, will it help? Since when does size not matter?
4) If I successfully jump to another system after receiving an order to dump said goods, will I be greeted by friendly members of Concord waiting to pop me on the other side?
School me in the ways of illicit activity, wise ones!

1. fast his does improve your chances of makeing it. 2. there a skill that will imporve your chances. 3. cloaking ships like the buzzard would also be safer. 4. Concord does not care what drugs you might have. they only care about attacks and sec rateing. the Faction cops are the ones that will deal with you on drugs and there not nearly has strong has concord.

I was moving my personal empire hanger items from one station to another about eight jumps away. I had quite a few contraband items in my hauler. I litterly bumped into one of the custom agents and had to drive back to the gate and jump.
I don't think proximity has anything to do about it, but I think they just check every X person through the gate.

1. No, this does not work. They scan inside containers as well. 2. It is chance based. How often checked I do not know, but the chance of getting scanned is pretty high. Snake implants lower the chance quite a bit. 3. They do not need a lock on you to scan your ship. As far as I know, size doesn't matter. 4. Only customs agents and gate sentries will react. Customs agents are not protected by CONCORD, same goes for the police, but they perform as a bloody tough NPC spawn all the same. Yes, the guns on the other side will be warm on your tail.
Rule of thumb is to not go through 0.5 systems or higher. There are some systems and gates that are not monitored in high sec, so you can scout ahead with a clean ship if you absolutely have to move through a high-sec system - theoretically. - EVE is sick. |

Alternatively, you could get someone familiar with smuggling to do the dirty work for you, for a nominal fee of course. I myself am not a smuggler, but I know a few. Evemail me if you need something shady moved, and I might be able to arrange it for you.
