Are the DG HML's that much better than the t2 HML's with heavy missile spec at 4?

Edited by: Klavayne on 06/03/2007 22:09:54 With DG and T2, the rate of fire of DG is still better than t2 even with spec at 5, not by much though. Although in general, i'd say your still better off with t2 just so you can use the t2 missile when you need to.

Not to mention it'd be less of a blow when losing them ------------------- My opinions (ie, all of my posting here) are not my corporations. Nor should it be taken as such. |

There is that.
But i was assuming he's talking for PVE. To stick on a Nighthawk (or a drake god forbid).

They can give you around .5 second faster ROF then T2 at Spec 5.
But if you don't have T2 launchers at level 5, they are much better. ------------------------------------- The difference between a Pirate and an Anti-Pirate is that an Anti-Pirate fights ships fitted with guns!

What about Dread Gruistas Heavy Assualt Launcher on a cerb/Nhawk with 4 BCU's.... ROF < 3 ?

IMO the main advantage of DGHLs over HLIIs is not really their rate of fire, but rather that they are so much easier to fit. It makes all the difference in the world on a Nighthawk...

We have a winner. If you try to fit a full rack of T2 launchers, a full T2 tank, and any T2 BCSs to a Drake and you'll see why having a launcher with the stats of a T2 launcher but the fitting requirements of a T1 launcher is so nice. I imagine it's not much better for a Nighthawk but I can't speak from experience.
On a side note, DGHMLs are way to expensive to fit on a Drake.

I have no problems fitting a full rack of T2 heavies and 3 T2 BCUs on a Nighthawk with a T2 tank. And thats with electronics 4, its a tech 2 ship and is really meant for tech 2 equipment so it has the ability to fit them.
I'm not saying i wouldn't ever fit DGHMLs if i had the chance i just don't think the added cost of 600mil+ isk just for the launchers justifies the small increase in damage. And if you want maximum damage, go passive and use Scourge Furys. It'll do more damage than DG launchers and you'd need to fire a lot of T2 missile to make up the price difference.

Edited by: Ral Ulgur on 08/03/2007 08:47:30 I run this setup and even with Shield Upgrades V and AWU IV it's a damn tight fit:
Hi: 6x DG Heavy 1x Small Tractor Beam I
Med: 3x Large Shield Extender II 1x DG Invul 1x Rat Specific Hardener
LOW: Flavor of the mission mix of SRP II and DG BCUs
with HML IIs you need to put in a faction PDU (DB or TS) and have AWU V to make it fit...
