I played Eve for a few months a year or so ago and came back after being pestered by a real life mate to try it again. I've been playing now for about 3 weeks, got myself a Thorax and done dozens of missions but I simply can't get into the game. I feel stuck in my own little world and frankly could be playing a single player game offline and would be if it wasn't for the chat window. I can't play along with my mate as he's down in 0.0 and I doubt I'd even get near his corps base.
Any advice? I need to make the game more interesting soon but all I can do at the moment is level 1 missions which are far too easy and it's fairly pointless to make a gang to help when I can solo them with my eyes shut and my drones launched

Try PvP and you'll be hooked. Get into a medium sized PvP corp and wiggle your way around a bit.

Pop into the Recruitment forum, and maybe find a player-corp that suits you?
Quote: I can't play along with my mate as he's down in 0.0 and I doubt I'd even get near his corps base.
Your buddy ought to be able to explain how to do this, if possible.
Quote: frankly could be playing a single player game offline and would be if it wasn't for the chat window.
Maybe EVE is not your kind of game? No game suits everyone perfectly.
Honestly, if you're having a miserable time playing (and just sticking around for your buddy, who doesn't seem to be giving you much help) then stop banging your head against a wall and find something you do enjoy. It's your money, time & entertainment value, right?

Make a new friend who can be arsed to escort you to his operating area, so you can play together.
I mean, WTF is up with your mate that he asks you to join the game, but won't bother to come to Empire and get you? Seriously, W-T-F? If I could get one of my RL friends to join EVE, I'd be so happy I'd head into Empire immediatelty to meet up with him and show him around the joint.
I'd even go to fracking Jita. Wouldn't stay there, but I'd go there to meet him and take him somewhere else! -- Guile can always trump hardware -- |

OMG!
Dude perma ban 4 U!
To the orginal poster:
To fast advance to level 2/3 missions train connections skills (and social ofcourse), also read up on mini professions. But failing that join eve university. I have had no real dealings with them, but I know a few players that have; they will really help your find motivation.
Eve is like project mayhem, you decide your own level of involvement.

You got that out of the "instant thread tangent, just add water" jar, didn't you?
EVE really is only worthwile if you join a corporation, and it's usually better to join an established corp instead of trying to found your own early on. Get some experience in somewhere with somebody who does something fun (My alliance officially does not condone piracy, so I won't suggest that, but anti-piracy can be just as much fun.) Group activities are always more fun than solo work IMO.
go out there, make friends, join their corp, and come back in five weeks, see how much your game experience has improved. ***

It's funny, mentions of dev corruption disappear in seconds (and I mean seconds, and I'm not talking about the ones which are merely locked), yet that sig is still here.
Respect to the sig, BTW. -
If you go into your options menu, there's a difficulty slider. Put that all the way over to the easiest setting and you'll be fine. |

That is because the original topic is legitimate. The mods have yet to realize the level of immaturity of a post that came after.

Just keep on hammering on the NPCs. Standing grows ... lvl 2 ... lvl 3 .... lvl 4
Oh and about Torhas sig: just another kind of bad taste and even the rendering is cheap. take him his unregistered photoshop copy away But his suggestion is okay (pvp corp).

EDIT: IBTSN
Absolutely Right!! Just relax. There is no level up and pew pew pew here. Take your time, build it right, and check out the beauty along the way. Find a corp, make some new friends and have a blast. Take it from someone that's been through the MMO guantlet, you won't find a better game, or a better bunch of folks around.
Cheers! ~Sol
