I have new character growing up in Khanid kingdom. I did the military missions for career agent, got the Coercer, did couple L1 missions and gained enough standings for L2 missions. It will have cruiser skills ready by next weekend.
I am new to lasers and amarr ships.
What is the fitting philosophy for fitting amarr laser ships?
Armor? Shield? Speed? Tank? DPS?
Pulse or beams? |

Armour, buffer, pulse as a rule of thumb but thats a pvp bias.
Better the Devil you know.

Smaller ship speed/buffer tank if you know what your doing otherwise repper is probably better.
bigger ship repper and plate usually.
Pulses are my preferred weapon |

Omen is quite quick too, its navy varient is fairly popular with the kieting crowd.
That + the versitility pulse lazors offer should point you broadly in the right direction

Eve uni is a great source of information, just use google

I would swap the 800mm plate for a capacitor flux coil to get better cap. But try it and see how it goes.

Why the omen over the maller? Maller does a smidge less DPS but is much easier to tank. |

For lvl 2's pretty much whatever you want. I personally would go pulses and active armor tank, ab, tc, te, and cap mods to fill the rest.
E: scratch that, that's for a new character, so the advice stands for you. I personally would switch to the confessor for 2's. |

Or maybe consider a Harbinger battlecruiser? It uses both lasers and drones. You could train up your drone skills (which will be useful to you for different ships / situations ) while still zapping things with (medium) lazors. Level 3 missions usually need a battlecruiser to do so you'd be getting used to that type of ship with the Harbinger also. The Omen's "thing" is that it can fit large guns. More damage, of course, but slower target tracking. Smaller ships can "get under" your guns (get close enough to where your guns can't track them effectively) and stasis webify and/or warp scramble you. Fitting a stasis webifier module yourself could slow a target enough to hit it better with your lasers. I understand Omen is better at pvp than pve, but it's a pretty ship. If you like it and really want to fly it, then go for it. Have fun.

Arbitrator if you want to go down the drone route, much easier to mission with drones as you don't have to worry about your gun's tracking.
Only downside is micro-managing the drones so they don't die all the time.
Otherwise I would suggest a beam omen with an armour repper. Buffer doesn't do so well in missions since you're best interests are to stay on field until the objective is complete.
Beams because you have a much longer engagement range and often spawns are over 50km away from you and you unlikely have access to scorch. |

I would personally prefer the Omen for lvl2s . Its faster, its weapons cycle faster (better for popping frigs) and it has more drones . Tank is not really an issue with lvl2s and the omens extra speed mitigates most of the damage anyway. .
