Not really sure where this should go so I'll post it both places.
with allainces now having many Motherships and possibly multiple Titans I just came up with this idea about 43 seconds ago.
The "Capital Outpost" would allow Titan and Motherships to dock in it, and would be quite the industrial masterpiece, taking possibly 3-5 times more mineral cost that a Titan to build, idk, just an idea
anyone like my idea or have comments?

That actually soudns like a good idea. Would encourage full region control, not just a contellation or 2 of a region.

People are already scattered enough in 0.0, we don't need artificial reasons to limit the population to one political entity per region.
Once, battleships were as rare as a Titan is today. Now they're commonplace, so much so that it's a small thing to throw them away. Titan BPOs, capital component BPOs and the POS assets needed to construct them are available on the NPC market. Just as a 40-dreadnought fleet is quite reasonable now, so will a ten-Titan fleet be in the future.
Starting with Revelations, Capital ships are the basic unit of military power. At some point in the future, when Doomsday spam is the nos or nano of this forum, we'll need to be able to trade and sell Titans properly, so I suspect a docking solution will be made available.
I suggest that all outposts be able to accomodate Titans and motherships.

yes, would like to see very expensive outpost that cost more than a titan, would think a station would be more expensive than a titan. This super outpost should allow for sentry guns, etc, just make it very hard to take with alot of dreads. SHould have a much greater purpose as well. Then again outposts kinda are pointless to defend as they dont blow up... Its kinda dumb when the entire is full of outposts, and you no longer have to build your own, just plant pos's.

Edited by: Nim9i5 on 09/03/2007 03:49:00 having all cap fleets kinda takes fun away from game, which seems to be in near future. hopefully they fix this.. .t2bpo just makes this cap fleet problem, makes it too easy to get those once expensive ships. Especially alliance like bob that actually have to cheat to get their bpo, i have no doubt the leaders knew about this bpo stealing and such(not possible for them not to know). Bet there is more too it. t2 bpos and alts are the only way people are able to replace ships they lose so easily

at the beginning of this post I thought you were against this idea, then by the end you seem to be in favor of it
but in response you you last line, I do not think basic outposts should be able to accomidate Titan's or Motherships, they should need their own "capital outposts" (as I am calling them) which would be very expensive. And only the most rich in eve and the most powerful, able to hold an area in space long enough to set one of these up, would be able to infact, set one up. If Titan's as you say will be traded as battleships are today, then I guess the marginal 3-5 times the price of a Titan. I'm not really sure, but I would guess and outpost today costs much more than 3-5 times the price of a current Dreadnought, let alone Battleships.

I think region Sovereignty is a good idea. anyone wiht the logistics/ISK willign to invest to build a 150-200bil outpost should be rewarded.

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if this was already in planning but not as your describing it. Could be one of the features of a customisable Outpost. Read the CCP drawing board details.

Well,
I think this idea would work.
If One Per alliance ;)
And make it so it is actually the CAPITAL of the alliance.
I think it's a wonderful idea.

Also I think it should not be able to be taken down by the Alliance, it HAS to be destroyed. I'm not sure how outposts work at the moment, but I think an alliance should have to think very carefully about where to place this.

Outposts can't be destroyed at this time. But I'm sure they'd be able ti implement a nice explosion for it.

Edited by: Lagar on 18/03/2007 18:53:09 no.. to be entirely blunt.. The Titan is suposed to be the largest ship in eve. thus meaning it's literly a mobile station. and i can honestly not se a station large enough to hold titans. if i had to have a larger than empire station i'd have a realy large 1 region one that could externaly dock motherships. However Titans should not in ANY way or form be able to dock to a station of anykind..

Somehow they manage to fit inside not only POS shields, but they are constructed entirely inside a single capital ship array. There's no good RP reason to call them "too big to dock." |

I like the idea. The Capital Outpost should give soverignthy over the entire region, it should have enough cpu for massive sentry guns. Should cost about 5trillion isk. Should be able to dock one titan or mothership, make motherships and etc. It sheilds should be so big that it would take a few days to blow up even if with 50-100 dreads. Its blown up, and cant be taken over. This super station could also give bonuses to other system pos's etc.

Why exactly would the station need to be bigger than the titan?
The Titan doesn't have to dock inside the station - it just has to latch on to it. It could just as easily be as small as a POS with a passenger tunnel and docking clamps to connect them like they do for planes and airports. Airplanes don't land inside the terminal __________________________ Nice forum - I'll take it! |

The only reason to dock a Titan or Mothership is to disembark from it. The idea of them is that they are so large and formidable, that boarding and flying one is a huge undertaking, which is reflected by their costs. On a personal note I don't see this happening, but then I'm not in content
